I receive my fifth covid pin August 16th and that puts me in track for the improved next gen covid shot in December.

So, check around and see what’s available in your areas… one may not need to travel to CA to get pinned~

When I got my monkeypox jab, they advised us not to get covid booster shot (Pfizer or Moderna) within 4 weeks of getting the monkeypox shot.

  2. Just went to Fire Island Pines recently and had a great time!

My friends and I opted not to do the underwear party this year due to monkeypox and instead just went to the piano bar. Lots of space. Great times singing showtunes and pop music. Loved it! To no surprise, drinks were pricey at $13 per single drink and $26 for a double.

I went for a jog each morning and every single guy I said "hi" to at least acknowledged me and said "hi" back or waved.  Overall I think people at FIP are friendly but yes there will always be mean gurl type guys there too.

If it's your first time going, I suggest going with a friend who knows FIP or attend one of those fundraisers at one of the FIP mansions.

I remember being interested in the Christine Jorgensen story, which was in the news when I was at a very impressionable age. It was when I first began to realize that I would like to have sex with males, but I thought one had to be female to do that. Once I understood that was not true, I lost any interest in transitioning.

So interesting you thought that, Charlie! A decade ago I watched this documentary called "Be Like Others" which is about sex change operations in Iran. They're completely legal. Trailer below. In the doc, a few men who consider themselves homosexual are willing to undergo this surgery so they may finally have sex with men without being persecuted.

Just sharing my side effects experience: got the shot, first day couldn't even notice. Woke up the next day with the injection site super tender. It eventually swelled up a bit and the area around the site felt like a hard lump. It eventually went away after 7-10 days. Been seeing other people sharing similar anecdotes.

I had a similar experience. It was just a painless hard lump that slowly went away after 7-10 days.

BTW, just in case anyone is curious on what the lesions may look like in the 'underwear zone', here's an article from New England Journal of Medicine, published July 2022.

  5. When I was in Toronto back in early July getting my shot, I was told they only recommended those immunocompromised to get the 2nd shot. The 1st shot should be fine for healthy individuals for at least 2 years.

Here in USA, it seems like they highly recommend people to get 2 shots within 4 weeks even though there's a limit in the supply.

    That is not correct.

In fact, it can involve any mucous membrane (e.g. eyes, mouth, urethra, vagina, rectum).
Most deaths in Africa occur when oral lesions make it so that the patient can’t swallow
fluids and they become severely dehydrated.

Other potential, albeit rare, complications include corneal scaring from eye involvement
and the inability to urinate from urethral lesions. Rectal lesions have been described as
causing pain akin to "shitting razor blades" and can lead to severe constipation.

So while there have been no deaths in the West so far in this outbreak, the disease is
not without significant morbidity for some.

In my humble opinion, gay men should refrain from sexual activity until after they’ve
been able to get vaccinated. I know it’s a pipe dream, but it’s the truth.

I think lesions can also appear on the penis and scrotum.

A lot of the interviews I watched/read back 2 weeks ago just referred to it as the "underwear zone".

Do they require a healthcard? I‘m Canadian, but reading this post suggests that visitors to Canada can get it too…

I think it varies by province since I had friends who went to Montreal and the clinic they went to required them to have gone to a bathhouse recently.

For me, the form asked for the healthcard number but I told them I didn't have one and they said it's ok. I went with Canadian friends and they input their healthcard number.

  8. Just wanted to share my experience getting the vaccine in Toronto. I went to Metro Hall location in downtown. Overall it took 30-40 mins of my time. I had to fill out a form and sign it, wait in the line (a few people ahead of me), take the shot, and then wait for 15 mins in the waiting area in case of allergic reactions.

The lady who gave me my shot was at 519 a week before and told me that one had a 2-3 hour wait!

Thank you to @TorontoDrew for the info above!

  9. My first visit to London was back in 2002 and I remember the Golden Jubilee festivities. I woke up early just to get a good spot at Pall Mall for the march and was surprised that it was mostly tourists who showed up early. Locals came too but they weren't that excited as they were this past weekend. I recall organizers gave all of us Union Jack flags to wave along the route so the photos would look better and more patriotic.

I think the Queen is definitely more popular nowadays especially after people watched The Crown and seeing what she had to deal with all these years.

Anyways, kudos to her! I hope she makes it to her 75th!

As far as age goes, that shouldn't matter. Supreme Court judges here in the USA have that position for life and most of them stay on the supreme court until their death.
