  1. I have heard that too. But then I remember Mae Murray, the silent screen actress from the 1910s and 1920s who was called "The Girl with the Bee-stung Lips". She didn't seem to have as much of an allergic reaction to the bee venom as people do today... lol.
  2. Condolences to you, and thank you for sharing. I would only say that it is important to give yourself time to move through your grief. The process is different for everyone. Try not to burden yourself with concerns about the future and possible loneliness - you have suffered a significant loss very recently and this will no doubt colour your current thoughts. Let time bring some healing and then consider how you might wish to be involved in various groups or communities at your own desired level of comfort. Take care of yourself.
  3. I can't help but think of all the meals that could buy for those who are hungry, and how many homeless people that amount of money could house safely and securely.
  4. Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry things are so overwhelming at the moment. Is there an opportunity for you to take a sabbatical or a leave of absence from work? Might it be possible to restructure a bit so that you could retire early? At the very least it's really important to give yourself some time each day - even if it is only carving out 15 minutes to go for a walk or to sit in the yard. It's a commitment to yourself that is needed. We cannot be all things to all people even though we may think we can or should. It isn't easy. Especially for those who are care-givers and supporters by their very nature. But you can do this.
  5. Hey there... at least he has an actual human as his avatar rather than just the first initial of his user name, unlike many of us including you. Nobody needs to justify why they choose a particular avatar or answer questions about underlying meanings. But back to the original post - the story provides yet another example of society becoming increasingly entitled, and less able or willing to consider and accommodate those matters that do not augment their own self-importance, such as the funeral for a fallen officer.
  6. Thank you! You understood my point exactly. And like you, I would also love to do an Antarctic and a High Arctic cruise some day.
  7. To me British period-dramas set in the UK have a cinematic quality that those set in the USA don't seem to have. I suppose Baranski - who is admittedly a great actress - is supposed to be the equivalent to Maggie Smith in Downton, but so far I think the character falls short. Nevertheless I will keep watching because the blend of fictitious and historical figures is intriguing to me, and it is set during a period of history that I've been interested in for some time.
  8. Well done! But you should come up to northern Ontario where 8-inches is just a dusting - lol.
  9. Maybe they've been told that the private gallery is for showing photos of their 'equipment'? 🤣
  10. Baltic cruises are pretty awesome.
  11. In 1972 a Serbian stewardess survived a 33,000 foot fall after the Yugoslav Airlines plane she was in exploded. She apparently landed in a marsh and had many broken bones, but the only longterm issue was a limp.
  12. Hopefully some mental health treatment and counselling was provided as part of his medical care.
  13. So all they were was Dust in the Wind? Did all your dreams pass before your eyes, a curiosity? 😉
  14. It's probably my favourite Mexican destination. While I prefer the beaches and water on the Caribbean side, PV has a better combination of sea, sand, hills, lush vegetation, restaurants, friendly local people, period architecture and what I can only describe as 'authenticity'. It was a settlement long before tourism and it grew organically over time. I had no idea it was a popular gay destination until reading posts on this board, which clearly shows how oblivious I must be.
  15. So you're saying that's what it's all about?
  16. Yes, but easy to treat if you're willing to spend time in a pre-heated oven until your internal temperature hits 170 degrees and your juices run clear. But I'm not a doctor, so nobody should take my advice on that... 🤣
  17. Was it this individual? https://rent.men/TyDexter
  18. And she also used a tool to do so....
  19. Lizzie Borden also created at least two memorial moments.
  20. I am surprised that no one on the board has asked you for your Instagram account! 😃
  21. Close your eyes and think of England?
  22. I thought he'd look more sheepish
  23. As a nod to some great literature, and very much tongue-in-cheek: "MobyDick" "Mr.Bovary" "OneHundredYearsOfPulchritude" "GreatExpectations" "TheCockAlsoRises" and my personal favourite... "ForWhomTheBallsToll". 🤣
  24. I think that means the profile has been removed.
  25. Perfect combination of viciousness and hilarity. I think Mom might have a future at Shady Pines to look forward to.
