  1. It's a difficult situation, no doubt. But the person adjudicating the claim of refugee status would presumably use interviewing to discern the credibility and reliability of the applicant. I don't believe any sensors, or things even more invasive, should be employed. Everything carries a margin of error and there will always be those who are able to thwart the system and be accepted as refugees even if their claim is false. The key, in my opinion, is to reduce the number of authentic refugees that might be sent back to lethal regimes by a system that is too concerned about false refugees making it through.
  2. The crooner with a many decades-long career died today in New York, just two weeks short of his 97th birthday. No cause of death was noted, but Bennett had been living with Alzheimers disease, having been diagnosed in 2016. May he rest in peace.
  3. If the RV's a' rockin, then don't come a' knockin...
  4. Maybe his name is Richard and he lives in Death Valley
  5. Unfortunately your original query has been lost amongst responses about someone completely different. Not an uncommon occurrence in this forum - some posters (including me) have a tendency to create more tangents than you would see in a trigonometry class. 🤣 Again, I have never met the individual you asked about, but he did go by at least one other name in the past and dropped off the radar for a while as well. And he was a contributor to the forum, but I cannot recall what his handle was.
  6. No idea what he might be like, but I do remember he posted on the forum in the past. He went by a couple of different names and then disappeared for a while. If memory serves, he is/was the partner of SeaFutureX - who also went by other names. SEAFUTUREX - Pornstar Performer, Rentboy, Gay Massage in Seattle, WA | RentMen RENTMEN.EU Pornstar Performer & Rentboy in Seattle, WA - SEAFUTUREX: Bi guy...
  7. No ravines or valleys out there - at least not in downtown. What surprises me more is when I hear about a bear found downtown or in the residential areas of the city - there was one or two a few weeks ago that I saw on the national news. And when I lived out there a bear was seen walking over one of the main bridges into the city. Maybe it had a pied a terre downtown that it used on the weekends.
  8. Lynx are beautiful but elusive. I've never seen one in the wild despite hiking in all different seasons. Surprisingly, even those animals listed as being of least concern are not always abundant. I think the population of lynx in Canada is somewhere around 10,000. I would expect the population of coyotes to be many more times that figure, since they have also adapted to urban life. Cities like Toronto and Vancouver have several thousand coyotes in their environs, and even in the downtown cores. Which is surprising since the real estate prices in either city is ridiculous, and I don't know how the average coyote can manage it.
  9. The newest season just started last night on CBC here in Canada... Matt Lucas has lost a significant amount of weight, apparently because his father and grandfather both died in their 50s and he wants to stop that cycle if he can. Hopefully he has many more years ahead.
  10. I've had gator at a Cajun restaurant. Tail meat cubed and coated in cornmeal and deep fried. The meat didnt have much flavour, but the spicy sauce may have overpowered it. It was very dense flesh and pretty chewy - I imagine there isn't much fat to tenderize it even if it's braised for hours and hours.
  11. Or Lagavulin in my case!
  12. I'm beginning to think it is more stressful visiting this thread than walking the streets of Rio after sundown... LOL
  13. No need for fragile glasses or breakable bottles when you have boxed wine and a straw
  14. Wow - I've never heard that before. One more good reason to hit the gym!
  15. There's a little quinine in tonic water. But based on what you've written, I suppose I can no longer use 'malaria-prevention' as a reason to drink multiple Gin and Tonics every weekend? At least I get a bit of Vitamin C from the lime, so now I'll just tell myself I'm keeping scurvy at bay.
  16. Parts of Europe may hit 49C (120F) this coming week, potentially setting records for the continent. I think it's Sicily and Sardinia that are supposed to be up in that range of temps, but also very hot through the rest of Italy, Greece and parts of Croatia/Bosnia.
  17. Unless I'm wrong, it sounds like he enjoyed it. He notes that he will repeat, so I'm assuming it was good.
  18. It would only be rude if they knew the wine was upstairs and Escher had built your staircase
  19. Is that actually a photo of the hotel elevator?
  20. I think it would definitely cross boundaries and violate human rights.
  21. You shouldn't have stopped for that goose. We need fewer Canada geese in this world - they are awful - hahaha
  22. Three on the left side as well. I once had a Cocker Spaniel with 6 nipples, though in her case that was 2 fewer than normal.
  23. Woodwork?
