Just a short commute to PS today. From sunny Phoenix to rainy PS.
I think our reward will be tomorrow. 🤗🤗🤗

Albuquerque is sunny and mild today. It feels wonderful. The trip has been easy peasy so far. 🤗

Madrigal's was great! I spent a lot of time there, and was at practically all of their private parties in the 90's.

Welp....I pulled out my travel bag; it's time to pack. Flying to Columbus Friday, and y'all know what that means.....the westward migration is drawing nigh! 😃
Looks like it's warmer up yonder this week than last. Thanks Oliver and SamFitz for turning on some heat prior to my arrival......😋

Try the Marriott Westshore or in that area. It’s a quick Uber ride and easy to airport. I just went last week and stayed there.

I've stayed at the Barrymore in downtown. Quick Lyft ride to Johsons.

^^^^they have valet parking which is your best bet if you’re concerned. I regularly park on the street and have had no issues with the neighborhood. Holiday Inn on South Dale Mabry is a new hotel in good location. Roughly 2000 block of Dale Mabry - don’t book on Dale Mabry if hotel is 4000-5000 block there are some that look nice on the internet but are not places you would choose to stay IMO. Otherwise to be safe pick something near the airport or downtown and you can’t go wrong.

Interesting figure from a paper on temperature and sleep.

When I'm at home in the wintertime, I usually run the heat around 71 or 72 and still have to wear a sweatshirt. At night I set it at 67. And sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and feel like it's freezing! I wish I had the ability to sleep with it colder. I don't know how people can stand it in the 50's!

Slept on his sofa a couple times (sheets, pillow, and blanket perfectly fitted) after incredible dinners he'd quickly whip up. Loved to make all the food for the forum weekend, presiding over the kitchen. "Those people in Sacramento are assholes". Daily long walks in his fantastic neighborhood and helped run his HOA like a well-oiled machine. Long full career as a beloved teacher. Xmas decorations meticulously placed in plenty of time, then carefully boxed up for next time. Southwestern and Mexican art expert. Knew all the best breakfast dives and agreed that "Mexican food" and "upscale" don't go together. Argh! Too much to say here!! Very glad I knew him.

Always welcoming in the trips to Palm Springs. Not always welcoming to ideas not consistent with his own which led to some interesting and well considered debates. I recall at one of the pool parties he was in a debate with another guest, he was sitting on a couch next to an escort who he would either stop to enjoy orally when his opposing viewpoint guest was speaking or manually massaging the escort's member to emphasize his own point. It seems to me the two things he enjoyed the most were a good debate and good sex, but I know he many other passions such as cooking and traveling and history and....well the list goes on. I know he was a great friend to Oliver and to many others.

Just one year ago today, my dear friend and travel companion, Epigonos, left us on his 82nd birthday. He was gruff and garrulous with strong opinions, always vocal about where he stood on an issue, but the sweetest man, in disguise. He was generous, kind and sentimental, always protective of those he loved.
Was it just a year ago?
I miss him.

Yep I went to a few at the old Madrigals when they were still open. Had some fun times. Since they closed I haven’t been to any. Miss those days.

SlimJim reacted to + purplekow in What are you doing New Year’s Eve?
Watched some of the Harry Potter movies on tv and then went to bed. I took the dogs in and closed the door so that they would not go barking into the backyard through the doggie door which is what would have happened due to the fireworks. Keep a radio on to drown out the fireworks and feel asleep. AT 2AM, I woke up and said happy new year to my prostate as I tried to coax a reasonable flow. It seemed to work.

I’m having dinner with my West Coast brother from another mother at his place. He loves to cook. My dog is also invited. I know the dinner will be wonderful. We will watch the ball drop in New York at 9 PST. I’ll offer to help clean up. He will reject the offer. I’ll drive home with my dog, walk my dog, brush my teeth, and go to bed, probably no later than 10:30 PST. I’m not a fan of big New Year’s Eve parties, or dining out on New Year’s Eve. That’s just me. I’m curious as to what other forum members enjoy doing on NYE. Happy New Year! May all your yearnings be fulfilled all year long!
