Spectacularly awesome pool party. Thank you to Oliver as well as his helpers with the delicious food and fun pool toys. It's a secret joy about the party I like with the video montage of clothes-less hotties on the computer screen while we're waiting our turn to use the potty. I so enjoyed meeting new people, catching up with people I saw last year, and just "letting it all stub out" a bit before heading home. The heavy wind blew quite a bit of White Claw into the water, so I may be a little tipsy as I'm typing this! 😃

Eid Mubarak! And a glorious autumn day it is in Canberra. A far nicer day to walk to the bus stop than it was yesterday, 9 degrees at midday and cold rain. And I am about to do just that now, to go to the airport for my flights to Melbourne then on to Los Angeles. I can't wait to get to Palm Springs tomorrow. Well Thursday, and it is already Wednesday here, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

And Sydney is in the band of totality but near its southern edge, a bit further north at say Newcastle would be closer its centre. The path of the eclipse will be from the NW, moving to the south-east of the country. I've seen (well experienced) one, 200km south of Canberra, in the mid-seventies. It was overcast, but you certainly knew it was happening, and the 'shadow' of totality was still obvious.

I saw the 2017 eclipse at 100% totality under clear skies (Oregon). It's something everybody should see. Absolutely incredible. We were on a mountain top and watched the shadow race toward us from 100 miles away. 2028 in Australia anybody??!!

I had a lot of fun there during my one and only visit to Barcelona about 2017.....safe, very convenient location very near the Plaza de Espana....three or four floors with mystery staircases scattered about made the walking around a bit confusing, but no problem!.....the working guys will lock eyes with you as you wander and may try to drum up business....you'll have to politely fend off those who don't appeal......if Akmed, an Egyptian, is still working there (?), he speaks great English and helped me out with logistics.......yes, it's much more of a legal brothel than a bathhouse.......my only complaint was that customers are required to wear towels (color-coded, I think, to distinguish clients and working guys) instead of their regular clothes, as is allowed in Brazil......my clothes are much more comfortable!.......
as an aside, I enjoyed some of the signs at BCN (airport) that were in Catalan first....then English.......then Spanish!.....long live Catalonia!!

Yesterday I started reading an article on Yahoo News. The first sentence was:
Grant Cardone is less than pleased with the ruling against former Donald Trump, in which Trump has been ordered to pay $355 million in penalties plus interest.
Now as a retired teacher, it really irritates me when an article gets published (yes, even on an internet news site) with such a glaring mistake. I stopped reading & went right to the comments. I typed this:
    Wed 21 Feb 2024 11:32:37 PM
Is the first sentence for real?? Where do they find writers like this and who the heck is responsible for editing or reviewing before publishing?? It says "former Donald Trump" like the man has changed his name. What the actual heck???? Oh wait, is he like the artist formerly known as Prince?
"Grant Cardone is less than pleased with the ruling against former Donald Trump, in which Trump has been ordered to pay $355 million in penalties plus interest."
A few minutes later I received a notice:  Your comment has been approved and published
This morning I woke to find this in my email:
Your comment on "Grant Cardone to Team:
"Immediately Discontinue All Underwriting on New York City Real Estate"" violates the community guidelines and has been rejected
I went back to the original article, which of course now reads:
Grant Cardone is less than pleased with the ruling against former President Donald Trump, in which Trump has been ordered to pay $355 million in penalties plus interest.

Having seen @Epigonos's recommendation last fall, I kept planning to meet @COLTONN in Ohio, but just didn't get around to it.  Then he appeared at @Oliver's pool party in April.  He was well liked by many of the attendees, and I knew that I would enjoy spending one on one time with him.  Last week, I was honored to host him in Columbus.  He lived up to all of Epigonos's accolades and is truly a top-notch provider.

I’ve been reflecting on my activities with Rentmen and Sniffies. If you’re like me, I’ve told myself that the pull toward these apps has been my strong desire for male intimacy, something I’ve lacked much of my life. But it’s turned into trying to gain intimacy through sex only. And while it’s been addicting, it satisfies for only the moment. It leaves me wanting more but feeling empty. I’m slowly learning that intimacy is much more than sex. It’s conversation, trust, sharing stories, supporting and getting to know one another beyond the sex. Finding that on Rentmen and Sniffies is damn near impossible. I’ve tried with RM providers and guys I meet on Sniffies, without success. Anyone feel the same? Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks.

Driving home on a dark lonely highway, cool wind in my hair and the smell of the ocean rising up through the air that was me while listening to a similarly worded Hotel California by the Eagles.  While in the song the driver spotted a shimmering light, I spotted nothing and then heard a lough thud which shook the car and saw a antler pass by the driver's side window.  As it turned out, a deer running headlong from who knows what crashed into the side of my car.  As I later learned the deer had no damage to its body but significant damage to its head and the police put it down.  I had not stopped and when I arrived home I called the police.  Contacting my insurance company to check my coverage what I thought would be only cosmetic damage they sent me to a local shop and the decision was made by All State to total the car.  The car is 5 years old and only had 30000 miles and though it is an inexpensive car, Chevy Cruze, I have no desire to have the car totaled.  It is still running perfectly but one headlamp is broken and unlike the deer, there is some body damage to the front bumper, fender and hood.    Has anyone here had luck in getting an insurance company to fix rather than total a car?
In the past, when this has happened, I was not worried about the car being totaled because in 3 cases the car was totaled and in the other the car was old and the offer was a fair one and in one the car was replaced by company which owned the other car which was involved.
Yes this is the sixth car to which  I have had this happen.   One had a muffler from another car come through the windshield/ One had a tire fly off after having a flat fixed and the tire changed at a garage. In one I was bumped off the road by an intoxicated driver and drove up and then rolled down an embankment.  In one, a driver deserted his car in the left hand lane of a major four lane highway without flashers or any notifying item and I crashed into the rear of the car as I pulled out from behind a semi to find the car there, That was the one in which the company that owned the car replaced my car.  The more recent one resulted from my hood not being properly closed after having my oil checked while getting gas.  As I pulled out onto the highway and got up to speed, the hood was blown open and smashed the windshield.
Surprisingly, in all but one of the accidents I was not hurt.  In the rollover, I suffered friction burns to my left arm and hand but was luck that I was tossed into the back seat and wedged between the front seat and the back seat as the roof and windshield crashed into the driver's seat.    After some initial concern about the return of function of that hand, all turned out well there too.
So, despite my experience with such matters, I would appreciate insight into how to persuade the insurance company to reevaluate the damages.
