SlimJim reacted to + sam.fitzpatrick in Attention! – Annual Palm Springs Weekend, 2026
Greetings all. Now that I have returned home and reflected on some of my personal highlights of the weekend during the flight home, I thought I would share some here:
1). There are many, many wonderful attendees, some I have now known over 10 years, some that started attending after we missed 2020 due to COVID lockdown, and a few newcomers. The diversity of the attendees I think is what I really enjoy the most be it professional backgrounds, ages raging from 20s to 90s, geographic, and racial.
2) Some of the best conversations (for me anyway) occur around the breakfast table each morning at INNdulge - hearing what (or who) the guys did the prior evening, recommendations for dinner while in town, what’s coming to Broadway, and updates on past attendees that were not able to attend in 2026.
3) Dinner at Trio is always nice. The relationship @Oliver has built over the years with the current owner makes this a great evening. And everyone that shared thoughts about this year’s meal were outstanding! I will place a little plug in for Trio for anyone looking for a place to dine.
For those of you interested in the stats of the weekend: 25 individuals attended dinner at Trio Saturday and 33 attended the pool event on Sunday.

Just finished doing laundry, running errands, and unpacking after settling down, and now I'm cooking dinner.
It was a wonderful time to not only see the providers (less than before) but what I REALLY enjoyed was just talking and meeting other people on the board, some I haven't seen for a year, and some being brand new people I enjoyed making friends with. Given the downsides of just maintaining on-line relationships, it's refreshing and more meaningful to talk to others face to face, give hugs and kisses in real life, and eat and converse and get to know each other on a deeper level.
I echo everyone else is saying many thanks to @Oliver @nate_sf @sam.fitzpatrick @purplekow and YourHunk/Nate and various other fantastic guys for organizing all of this and taking over for the events from Friday to Sunday. If you guys ever need help in the future, don't hesitate as I believe there will be many people who would be glad to volunteer and help ease the burden of running such a rewarding weekend. And for the people who came for the first time like @TMB and @ursalex, it just makes the whole thing even more special.
I'm still smiling from the good memories that were made from this. Thank you.
GROUP HUG!

As a relative newbie to the Forum weekends (2015, then not again until 2024) I want to thank everybody involved for making the 2026 Forum Weekend so much fun. Most thanks go to Oliver for once again organizing the entire affair, making the arrangements for Saturday’s dinner, and all his tireless work to make sure everyone had a great time. Thanks to purplekow for hosting the opening pool party on Friday afternoon, where we had the occasion to meet and greet each other and get the festivities started in fashion (or lack of it!) The Saturday dinner was sumptuous and another opportunity to renew old friendships and make new ones. Finally, Sunday’s pool party was fantastic, despite less than cooperative weather. Once again, Oliver offered his lovely condo, and he was greatly aided by wonderful friends, Steve and Nate who hosted, and Nate N who made the eggs and served as paramedic, all of whom hopefully made him feel like a guest in his own home.
Many thanks to all who worked to put this together and all who attended. I can’t wait until next year.

Much appreciation to the multiple hosts who volunteered their houses and time to make the events possible!
And much appreciation to the gorgeous men (both escorts and clients) who made time to show up and get naked in the pool 🥳

I had so much fun! Such a friendly group and it was great putting faces with the handles. Thanks to all the organizers for pulling this off so well.

Great party as always. So fun to see familiar faces and chit-chat with guys I've been too shy to have talked to in past events. I look forward to next year (and I'll bring back the wrestling singlet, ha ha).

Many thanks to @purplekow. The party was a great kick-off to the weekend. Very impressive spread of food, as well as fun and interesting men. Though I love any excuse to get naked, this was a really good one!

Thanks to the 25 to 30 people who attended the meet and greet on Friday. I felt more like a guest than a host as some of you probably noted. Still, I think things worked out really well. Food was sufficient and there were naked men in the pool in the spa and on the patio. The well dressed formed a conversation circle in the living room leaving plenty of room for those passing by the food and drinks.
I appreciate all of you who came out and left me with little in the way of left overs. I would definitely consider doing it again next year should Oliver decide to continue this into the 26th year and David SF decides to remain in retirement from hosting.
If any of you should return to PS give me a heads up and we will have a meal or a swim or a slap and tickle.

I would like to thank Azdr for his help in preparing my house for visitors. I am pretty laid back about things like clutter and floors, but he is definitely fastidious in these regards. So, although it is not 100%, it is inhabitable for the afternoon. The pool is up to 83 degrees and the small spa will be at 98 with bubbles. Even if you have not sent an RSVP, you are welcome to come between 1 and probably 7 or when the last person leaves. I do not think it will be a huge crowd, probably 20 to 25 if we get all the persons who expressed interest to show. Dress is optional, black tie to white ass well any color ass. See some of you tomorrow.

It seems the cool weather is coming in at an inopportune time for the forum members. The weather has been in the low 90s for this week and it was perfect pool and tanning weather. Seems starting Friday with a slight drop into the low 80s it will continue to cool off including Sunday so the pool may not get much use but I am sure other things will keep us occupied.

It's the first time since I moved to Los Angeles ten years ago that I won't be able to join all of you. Sigh. Unavoidable work conflict that for once I just can't do remotely. I'm already feeling the pangs of envy as the dates approach. Hope you all find ways to have a little extra fun on my behalf!

SlimJim reacted to + Gar1eth in Conversation Is Tough
Outside escorts and hookups I don't really have a lot of experience. The closest I've ever had to a boyfriend experience was an intense fbud relationship that lasted close to a year. But that was 9 years ago.
So now I've met a guy. I wouldn't say I'm in love. But I like him a lot. It's not just sex as I've never been a sexual dynamo. I find that I also enjoy just us sitting next to each other watching TV with his head in my lap or my arm around his shoulders.
But I find conversation difficult.
1) We're both retired. So there's no work to talk about.
2). He's into sports big time. I'm not.
3). If we were young, we'd probably be talking about our classes at school. But neither of us is young or talking classes.
I have to admit that it's not only with this guy that I have trouble with conversation. I'm often at a loss when I'm with family. But there I feel the reason is that my life is so different from my family. I'm the only gay one. I'm the only adult in the family who's never been married or has a significant other. I'm the only adult without children. And now I'm the only adult of my generation without grandchildren.
So what do I do with my new guy friend? I don't think the physical part is enough to sustain a relationship over a longterm

SlimJim reacted to nate_sf in Are Magazines No Longer Whacking Off Material?
I've been watching that show too (DTF St Louis) and took note of that line - particularly because print media was always my favorite form of porn, and in a way it still is. I think most guys prefer video or cam, but I still like the still images.
When I was a teenager, and into my college years, I rented a post office box so I could subscribe to Playgirl and receive my issues there. This became more comical once I lived alone, but I was still afraid to have the issues arrive at my apartment. What if someone saw my mail?!? Now it all seems so ridiculous, but that was me then.
There was a thrill to visiting the post office box in those days. I'd open up the little door, and my heart would beat with excitement if I saw the magazine curled up in the box (I suppose my dick beat a bit with excitement too). Now with the internet, everything is available instantly, so that anticipation and excitement just isn't there.

There seems to be interest in having a Friday intro meeting and I have decided I will attempt to follow in the footsteps of DavidSF and have a meeting at my home on the Friday April 10. It does mark the anniversary of the Titanic setting sail, so I hope to be a better fate with this undertaking.
I would like to get a head count, as David tells me he always had food left over but he was doing barbecue and as I do not have a grill, I will be doing something different with finger food and some more substantial fare. My house has an old pool and a small hot tub and limited shade so bring sun protection. I also have dogs who will be in a separate room to insure their safety and to prevent you from being licked into submission.
I expect the doors to be open at 2 PM and that people will be on their way to other plans in the early evening.
If you are planning or thinking about coming, please drop me a message here with your e mail and I will send you the particulars including the address. For those who know Palm Springs, I live in the Demuth Park area, right near Local Animal Shelter near the inersection of Gene Autry and Dinah Shore, an easy 8 minute drive from DownTown Palm Springs. Lots of parking as there is a lot across the street in the park.

In less than a month, we'll be meeting!
I'm curious if anyone wants to meet up to do any other activities outside the dinner and pool gathering. We've done walks, hikes, bar hopping, the Palm Springs Village Fest, the Palm Springs Farmers Market, or just lounge away at the pool at the InnDulge.

SlimJim reacted to + Vegas_Millennial in Are you wealthy (2 mill.) or just comfortable (1 million)?
Well said. I'm comfortable/wealthy as well; but, like you, it's locked away in retirement accounts and home equity.
I've lived a life of saving and investing most of my earned income in my 20s. Now in Middle Age, what I save and invest is peanuts compared to the growth from the smart decisions I made in my 20s. To get busy living, I've stopped saving as much and increased my leisure spending; but, it's hard switching from a savings mindset to a spending mindset.

SlimJim reacted to + purplekow in Are you wealthy (2 mill.) or just comfortable (1 million)?
American live over their means. They buy the newest phone, a better car, get meals delivered or go out to eat. They pay heavy interest on credit card debt. They hire expensive escorts. Of those, my phone is old, my care was 10 years old until a deer ran into it, so now I have a three year old car, I stopped getting meals in. I have one credit card and it is paid off automatically every month. When I go out to eat, it is not usually a spectacular place. As for the escorts, well we all have our needs which are a bit on the costly side.
The truth is, I do not like spending money when I can avoid it. At this point in my life however, my limited travel will be economy or first class, not coach. I will allow myself the occasional financial indulgence at a restaurant. But, I rarely get wine with dinner.
I think many Americans could avoid debt if they tried. I do realize, there are plenty of people who have jobs that barely let them get by. When I was in that position, I had three jobs, two full time and one part time. They allowed me to pay for school and become trained in a better paying field.

SlimJim got a reaction from + Just Sayin in Deodorant for a first date?
I haven't worn or been into cologne for a few decades. However, back in the 1980's if someone was wearing Polo, it was almost hypnotizing. I'd fall in lust with them immediately!
