I still use google voice for first time meets and it supports photos now. The only times I’ve had prospects call me out on it were some shady acting guys from Seeking. I rarely talk to providers on the phone though, I usually stick to texting.
 
Granted I don’t hire as often lately, but I’ve never had a pro have a problem with it. I think the rest of your behavior says more than the number you use.

To me it doesn’t make the guy any more attractive if he’s straight. And it’s a ‘straight’ up no for guys who advertise as straight. Been there, done that, lesson learned.
 
That being said, when I was hiring in my 30’s and going to the gay bars every weekend, I preferred finding straight guys on sites like Craigslist because I figured it offered an extra layer of discretion. I realize now that my logic was probably flawed, but I never had any issues either as I have always been excessively cautious about who I hire or hook up with. Most of my best regulars have been straight guys, but like others have said, there are usually more limits as well.

I got calls as well (automated, thankfully) for the first few purchases but none since. No fraud on my account... yet. Short answer: it varies...and it varied a lot.
 
Long answer: it’s a long game, more of a courtship in some ways, and typically you’ll exchange lots of messages and phone calls before you meet.
If the model replied (ie was interested enough), I’d suggest drinks and dinner wherever they wanted. Models always know where they want to go and eat, and be seen or perhaps not be seen.
If that first date was great, I’d invite them home for breakfast. Some needed a couple of dates before they came home with me. Some proved uninteresting.
No matter how the first date went, I always offered some compensation for their time. It demonstrated that I was serious and generous. No-one ever refused. If the first date was a disaster, I offered cab fare home (ie $40-50). If the guy was very keen but had other plans that night, I’d schedule a second date and discreetly give him $100 ”for being such good company” - I was never stood up on a second date.

I would suggest tactfully giving notice an appointment or two in advance much like a personal trainer or hairstylist might do.

Maybe I'm wrong. But I thought @caliguy was being sarcastic. On the other hand, good escorts seem to be able to get beyond looks in the usual case. So while maybe not a terrible person, Cade is probably not a great escort.
