One is not glued to the table for the whole session. But if I want full service I hire an escort. Table is much preferred when it comes to massage. Gives the masseur much better access to the various parts of the body without having to crawl around on the bed. They have much better leverage when standing so if you like deep tissue work a table is the way to go.
 

Table! No question about it. Massage is my primary focus though, so I may be biased on this point. I've only done bed massage a handful of times, but my neck always feels worse after than before (which seems to defeat the purpose!).

I did this a while ago as well before all of this COVID nonsense. I did it for a few months and was actually really surprised at the number of younger guys who by every account appeared to be completely straight and came to get massage. A home run for me is a very good therapeutic massage. I’m booking a massage because I want to ease my muscles and release tension. Generally I’ll be very up front when booking an appointment that I want a professional deep-tissue massage that has sensual elements (brushing, teasing, erogenous zones) that ends with a happy ending by hand. I like to set the expectations that I’m not open to more than that and that I’m looking for a massage (not an escort) without saying that as to not offend anyone.
 
I also generally won’t get massages unless they’re certified and have a proper table setup.

I agree with those who say the safest course is don't do it. However, we all get to evaluate and accept risk for ourselves. Two weeks ago, I took the first plunge since COVID arrived with a therapist I've seen in the past. I know him to be a clean, fastidious guy, and he assured me that he was cleaning his place thoroughly between clients, airing out the massage room, etc. He also asked me to shower upon arrival - not sure that makes much of a difference, but I didn't object or mind. I chose to wear a mask during the session; he didn't. He said he would wear one if I'd asked him to, but the massage room is in his home, he's there all day, exhaling droplets etc., so I didn't really feel that it would make that much of a difference for my protection. I understand that the mask is more for the protection of others, but I felt better wearing it, so I did. Honestly, while I would have preferred not to, it was fine, not especially uncomfortable, and not all that annoying. I tend to zone out during a massage session anyway, and the mask didn't prevent that from happening.
 
Other than asking him to wear a mask (which again, I didn't), I don't know of any other reasonable precautions to recommend. Overall, I was glad I went - I hurt my Achilles tendon trying to start running again, and I just needed a little attention anyway (unlike some folk, I don't have a husband to bang me or make me breakfast ). But, on the other hand, I'm also glad that 14 days passed yesterday without me getting sick, and while I would love to go and perhaps check out some of the other providers recommended on this forum, I am going to keep my pants on and wait awhile again, particularly given the spike in case numbers here in the LA area.
