It’s a combination of the high rates of crime and homelessness in California right now. It makes insuring a vacant home extremely risky, and the one thing insurance companies hate….is risk. I think of insurance companies like I think of Vegas casinos, they only take the bets they know they can win in the long run.

I’ve never understood why they don’t at least attempt to use proper English. I’ve warned everyone that works for me, "If your email isn’t in proper English, I will assume it’s Spam from a Scammer in India (or Pakistan, or Nigeria, or the Grand Caymans…I’m an equal opportunity racist) and delete it.

As others have stated, this is not a new phenomenon. It’s one reason I love America so much. There are literally thousands of options for how and where you can choose to live.

I’ve found that Lloyd’s of London will insure just about anything…..for a price. Don’t ask me how I know. But I do. And yes, the ass fucking that I took was painful. Best of luck!

I’d take the hit. Chalk it up to a lesson learned. And move on. At best the police will go through the motions, but not really do much. At worst, they’ll have lots of questions for you….. If the thought of doing nothing is burning a hole in your head, by all means talk to an attorney before you do anything. I was in a similar, but different, situation once when I was young. My father said, "Go talk to an attorney. Get it out of your system. Then move on." For the record, the attorney’s advice was "you’ve got a smart father, move on’.
