I do love the building. The restaurant Le Frank is also very, very good. It doesn’t hurt that the restaurant sits under a school of Gehry "Fish Lamp (2014)" light fixtures. His fish lamps have always been a favorite of mine. However, as a museum (which after all is what it is), I don’t think it’s that great. The exhibition rooms are little more than enormous boxes. It works ok for supersized art, but I can’t imagine seeing art there that’s less than gigantic murals. Anything smaller would look ridiculous. It suffers from the same problem the large cube room at MOMA does. You know, that horrible box of a room that swallowed Monet’s Water Lillies whole on opening day. It’s not as bad as the shit show at MOMA, but it’s close. Then again, I guess there are plenty of museums for smaller art and not every museum has to be everything. Unfortunately, to me the rooms also don’t flow well. I’ve been lucky enough to seen several shows there, and I feel like I already know the predetermined "path" I’m supposed to follow. Despite all that, I can’t fucking wait to see the Rothko show. It should be amazing!

Cute hotel. Pity about the decorator’s dreadful rooftop choices though.

How was affection shown in you household growing up?
+ nycman replied to + purplekow's topic in The Lounge
Zero. In my late 20’s, the day my father hugged me….really HUGGED me, I told my then BF on the drive home, “that man will be dead soon". My BF was stunned and said ‘what the fuck are you talking about? He’s fine." My father died from a massive hearth attack within a week. I am eternally grateful for that hug. -

Even a 24 year old is old enough to understand the market and basic business concepts. My take is the kid "likes" you and maybe is giving more of himself in response to that. My advice is that you graciously accept his generosity. Calling him out on the fact that he’s undercharging you telegraphs that in your head it’s a purely business relationship (which it may well be and there nothing wrong with that), and hurting his feelings or worse making him feel stupid for thinking otherwise. Which, as you stated is exactly the opposite of what you hoped this conversation would accomplish. In other words, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

Because he’s a vain little bitch who wants to be the "prettiest girl in the room"…..grin. I feel a song coming on….. "Cause everyone harbors a secret hatred For the prettiest girl in the room"

My favorite version of this is: ”To whom much is given, much is expected". It’s the mental balm I use whenever the joy of charity starts to fade and rub.

Now even just seeing the notification "Vin_Marco has commented on Men’s Legs" makes me hard. I feel like one of Pavlov’s dogs. grin

$560M Perelman Performing Arts Center opens near ground zero

I assume you’re asking about Perelman, not Gehry. Yes, our paths have crossed. It’s never been a pleasant experience for me or anyone I know. -

The original architect was Frank Gehry. What "could" have been….sigh. I hate The Cube, but it’s hard for me to tell if I just can’t separate my hate for Ron Perelman (truly the worst human I have ever met. And I’ve met some real assholes along the way) from my hate of the design. In fact, I think we should refer to it as the "Tribeca Cube", just to piss him off. -

You lost me. grin To answer the question (only because I love you), the bus to subway option is the one preferred by locals. (Now get a car service you cheap ass bitch….sorry, I couldn’t resist.)

Most likely, they just got tired of listening to her whining and entitled American ass. That actually happened to a Mexican friend who was kidnapped. The family didn’t really want her loudmouth ass back, and the kidnappers couldn’t stand her, so they just released her without getting any ransom. None of us who knew her were surprised…..lol

So beautifully said. Thank you.

I’m sure there is more to this story. The article doesn’t make much sense. At first it was a 10 hour layover, then they weren’t supposed to be there for more than 6 hours. She claims over $50,000 in hotel costs and legal expenses in "expensive" Dubai. I’m not buying it. Yes, parts of Dubai are insanely expensive, but there are tons of options that are dirt cheap. She says she 'gently' touched one of the female customs officer's arm. That doesn’t pass the smell test. These guards aren’t looking for trouble. Especially with foreign tourists in transit. "Elizabeth faced degrading, painful and humiliating searches". Come on. They simply asked her to remove a medical brace with internal wires (that I’m sure looked a lot like a suicide bomb on the scanner) in front of a female security guard. There is nothing degrading, painful, or humiliating about that. "….she will only be detained until she can book a flight out of the UAE." That takes all of 5 minutes to accomplish. Again, it makes no sense. "Elizabeth is extremely worried that she will be detained in the notorious Al Awir prison." Drama much? "Even if she is allowed to be deported tomorrow, she will remain in prison until then". Wait, I thought she was staying in "expensive" hotels. Which is it? I’m guessing she’s a typical entitled American young person who mouthed off during a routine airport security search and got physical with the staff. Let me walk everyone through how to handle this, admittedly stressful, scenario: #1 Stay calm. #2 Answer all questions "yes, sir" or "no, sir". #3 Avoid any confrontational stares and be as submissive as possible. #4 Stay still, do as you are told, and not make any sudden movements. #5 Do not touch anyone or anything unless told to do so. #6 Remember, you are in a foreign country. They can and will fuck you up. #7 See #1. Every parent needs to teach their children these basic survival skills. And for Christs sake, don’t have "cheap surgery" performed in Third world countries. Do you REALLY want "cheap surgery"? Think about it.

Yeah, it’s why I avoid 3-somes in my real life as well as my hiring life. I’m ALWAYS more attracted to one more than the other (even when they’re both smoking hot). I end up getting into my own head about forcing myself to pay attention to the "less attractive" one. It feels awkward and strained. It tends to be even worse if they’re a couple and haven’t already worked through all of the inevitable issues that arise from such a situation. Remember, you’re doing this to have fun. If it isn’t fun, you’re doing something wrong.

Baby, you put it in your sock under the sole of your foot so you’re walking on it. Not tucked into the leg where any cock sucking whore on his knees can get it. ID, credit card, and $100 bill…and you’re ready to go! Do I have to teach you everything? grin

I’ve met him in real life. He’s big, muscular, kind, and fun. No clue if he’s any good at massage (or anything else for that matter), but he is real.

Nice try, but I did not disparage Ms. Feinstein for her actions. I would never criticize any "civilian" in such an overwhelming situation. I merely pointed out it wasn’t the correct thing to do because I don’t want people today repeating the same mistake.

She did lots of great and lots of horrible things. In other words, she was a politician. In my book, dying in office….of old age, was one of her greatest sins. What the fuck is wrong with that generation? Are they really that self-centered and narcissistic? Anyways, RIP From the above article: "Feinstein recalled finding Milk's body and searching for a pulse by putting her finger in a bullet hole." That’s really fucking weird. For the record, that’s not how you look for a pulse in a gunshot victim….ever.

And it turns the small Palm Springs airport / flights into a shit show. Book early and travel with an airline with whom you have status. And have a "Plan B". There will be problems. Trust me.
