I had a buddy unexpectedly die who wasn’t out to his family. We lived on opposite coasts. I had to call his best friend (who was straight and in the dark about his best friend being gay), and ask him to go into the apartment to straighten it up. After the initial shock, he handled it remarkably well, other than being really upset that his best friend didn’t trust him enough to be honest with him. It was mildly humorous when he later called to asked me, “did you know he had a thing for big dick black guys“? No in fact, I did not. So we all learned something new that afternoon.

He was certainly a towering figure. While I admittedly never liked being in the same room with him, there is no doubt he was a powerful voice. His spitting and at times venomous yawp spoke to this late 80’s NYC punk. There is little doubt I owe my own survival in part to him. Thank you Larry. RIP Mighty Warrior.
