I have mostly had excellent experiences with guys vetted through this site. So thank you all. However features of some early massages that made me wise up are: masseurs who promised 90minutes and gave me only 40, music that was Inappropriate (one guy tried to massage me to the sound track to a war movie), a guy who talked too much as if I was his therapist (is it my job to make him not feel lonely?), someone who massages me with one hand and texted with the other, a guy that really turned me on and who massaged nude but made it clear—do not touch! a masseur who wanted to talk to me about breaking up with his fiancée after the massage was over (including too many détails about their sex life), a guy whose pictures were at best from a former life that has long since past, and a couple of guys who assumed I was there for their gratification and had no real skill or intention of massaging me at all. All of these are actually quite funny now because they taught me to what’s out there... and be very selective about who I hired with my hard earned money. Fortunately, these have been in the minority.

I’ve now had two massages. Both with long time regulars. And oh so nice to be touched again! I actually met with the first masseur for coffee days before. He was just starting to see current clients. He guaranteed squeaky clean space and masks. Well once I was on the table, I couldn’t stand the mask. Asked him how he was, both our masks came off. All well, waited 18 days before next massage. Second one the masseur showed me his covid antibodies test results. He tested positive with an extremely high load and yet was never sick. He’s also a personal trainer, so perhaps not surprising he was positive. Whether warranted or not, I did feel more relaxed without the mask. Both sessions were great. But I go to these particular guys for their on table body to body style. First guy didn’t get up on the table, which I expected. Certainly missed that interactivity which was alway Uber erotic. Second was more interactive up on the table but still reserved. Been 2 weeks now. Not sure what’s next. Don’t think I’m ready for a spa yet. A home run for me is a very good therapeutic massage. I’m booking a massage because I want to ease my muscles and release tension. Generally I’ll be very up front when booking an appointment that I want a professional deep-tissue massage that has sensual elements (brushing, teasing, erogenous zones) that ends with a happy ending by hand. I like to set the expectations that I’m not open to more than that and that I’m looking for a massage (not an escort) without saying that as to not offend anyone.
 
I also generally won’t get massages unless they’re certified and have a proper table setup.
 
Biggest pet peeve is when I’m upfront with my check list and the masseur shows up with zero training, can’t give me a proper massage, and I end up being more tense than I was prior too. I’ve ended massages before because of this scenario.

Yes, good advice CatDaddy. And that's exactly what I've done. I went to one of my private regulars 2 weeks ago in his clean apartment. We both wore masks. He had the air conditioner on as well as a small fan blowing air around. He was sitting out the pandemic and I convinced him to let me be his breakout client and he did. I know that he was always clean, even uses zip off covers for the head cradle which he changes each time. He asked that I not talk while he was massaging me. A bit much but I respected his wishes and it worked out fine. I'd do it again but cautiously.

IMO not a good time to hire.

Business must be slow as guys are still thinking about taking the plunge. I've called a few spas just to see what they would have to say about changes in procedures. They all told me that masks are required for both masseur and client except when face down in cradle. Sanitizing between client visits and some even recommend a shower before getting on the massage table. I suggest a mutual shower between masseur and client to be sure both are squeaky clean.

By the rent masseur site it sure seems a lot of providers are still in service. That being said I can't take the risk.
I actually sobbed the other day from seeing a group of people in a video singing and dancing and hugging. Because of circumstances in my life I have lived barely being able to leave the house for years. But the rare occasion when I could sneak away and get a massage was paramount to keeping my sanity. Between the pandemic and the daily visual assault of sweet potato Hitler I don't know how much more I can take.
