I am sorry to hear that you had to experience this behavior. People will say hurtful things to their closest family, things they won’t say to absolute strangers. That has always surprised me. My family hasn’t been this bad. I could claim that it is because I am so fabulous (of course I am!), but it is mainly because they believe I am rich and they hope to inherit when my wicked ways finally do me in. If only they knew I plan to spend it all before I go, on boys and booze!! 😆

It is equally contentious in the USA! The answer you are looking for is “no”. 😉Pineapple does not belong on a pizza. Nor does peach or plum. But I am happy to sear pineapple, peach and plum on the grill as a desert during BBQ season (it really brings out the sweatness - really!) Stole that idea from Martha Stewart… 😁

I have been in San Francisco since Friday. Have seen quite a number of homeless and signs of neglect, but have not felt unsafe at any time. Mainly using BART to get around - have seen more homeless/panhandling on NYC subway and platforms than here in San Fransisco. I don’t want to travel through SFO without TSA pre-check though - the lines appear to be very long, getting through security checks. Glad to be back in San Fran; I’ve missed this place - may get a touristy tshirt to celebrate!! 😊

Advice for a newbie investor?
+ FrankR replied to + keroscenefire's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
That 👆 is not helpful to a newbie investor. And this, my dear @keroscenefire is why you should avoid advisors and brokers (and your broke cousin with an expert opinion) - they expect to be paid even when they don’t provide value. -

It didnt work out for the Beardstown Ladies (in a bull market!), so my honest opinion is that it wont work out for you either. (But Walmart is a good company…their stores are always packed) You do you, but I have walked that road and cannot recommend. https://thehustle.co/the-midwestern-grandmas-who-became-stock-market-celebrities/amp/ -

Partnerships can be both a blessing and a curse. Partners get married and then you are also married to their crazy spouses…and later ex-spouses. And their high maintenance kids, each with an opinion. No thanks! For a newbie with a little capital - Low cost, broad based index funds are the way to go, in my experience. Easy, tax efficient, liquid and flexible. -

That is fair. I also doubt a newbie investor will have $200k for a down payment on a $1mil building. -

“Waste not, want not!” Or maybe he thought you need more fiber in your diet? 😆 -
I suspect, like most of the younger generation, he has student loans to pay off. 😉

THE ORVILLE began its new season today on Hulu
+ FrankR replied to samhexum's topic in TV and Streaming services
I got stuck watching the first season. Maybe my expectations were too high. Couldnt figure out if the show was intended to be a parody or a serious but seriously quirky show. Does it get better towards the end of season 1 and into the following seasons? -
I am sorry this happened to you. I like my providers to be active and passionate contributors so I can usually tell within the first 15 minutes how things will go. Always keep an eye on the clock and never let them run out the clock - would rather end early and save that extra they would charge me if we go over. on another prospect. Once you get to the point where you have gone over the hour, your options are limited and almost all unsatisfactory.

Take a look here for solid and free advice on how to attack this topic. https://moneyguy.com/resources/ The “Financial Order of Operations” is a good step by step guide. It reminds me of Dave Ramsey’s “Baby Steps” I listen to their weekly webcast on YouTube if the topic is of interest to me. Like @Kevin Slater I use and recommend low cost, broad based index funds to my friends. Avoid active management and high fees (products like annuities) - don’t let financial institutions pick your pocket. Just my 2c - PM me if you have questions. -
This morning I had a casual interaction with a guy at the grocery store. I get the sense it could have turned into a hookup but did not pursue...how often do you manage to make a casual interaction work as a hookup? Here's what happened. It was early morning on a Sunday, so the store only had one check-out open; there were very few people around and we were the only two people in line. I recognized him from his Grindr profile, we hooked up once about 3 years ago - he was ahead of me and his card got declined. He tried a second card and it happened again. He was very embarrassed... it looked like he had just stepped outside to pickup a few things for breakfast, was dressed in running shorts and a tshirt and he didn't have a wallet, just a phone with a few cards in the sleeve of the phone. I guess I am aging myself by expecting a guy to have an actual wallet with cash! His Grindr profile indicates that he just moved back to the city after a few years away, and I have no knowledge of his financial situation, but felt the need to step in and do a good deed. So I said: "I hate it when that happens. Damn banks can never get it right". I slipped him two fifties and said in a low voice - "Just pay it forward sometime". His expression changed from embarrassment to confusion, to surprise, back to embarrassment. It was adorable! He thanked me and left. My card did not get declined (thank goodness!). He was waiting for me outside. He thanked me again, but it was on the cusp of getting a little awkward - I sensed that he kinda recognized me but maybe wasn't sure... So I just said: "It's totally fine, it happens to all of us - good to see you, it's been a while!" Gave a friendly smile and wave and went on my way. Is it wrong that I hope he hits me up on Grindr tonight?? 😋

You can download free software that will wipe the drive permanently. https://www.lifewire.com/free-data-destruction-software-programs-2626174 You can also remove the hard drive and physically destroy it - take a hammer to it or melt it down with a cutting torch. Do check for any cloud based backups by reviewing browser history and subscriptions.

I’ve seen it advertised a number of places in NYC (Times Square, subway stations). It is on Hulu, i believe.

Yes! Thank you!!!

There are some funny internet trolls here who haven’t met him, and then the trolls try to be funny without having met him hahaha but 45+ veteran members here have met him and said it was the best time as you can read above, and I can vouch for that too, best time and most skilled guy I've met. And he looks even better than his pictures! So you keep saying. How much of a discount do you get for your marketing efforts? Maybe suggest some updated photos - that always helps. 🤫

Um…a link would be useful…. (You did see that coming, right?)

Ive seen these pictures before. Probably a name change…

You are a far more adventurous man than me…I usually draw the line at chocolate and whipped cream! 😉

That is indeed a well known saying - To be sure, I am not trying to catch the falling knife…I am “betting” it will still be in usable condition after it hits the floor! 😉

I think it was Warren Buffett who said that the stock market is the only store where the customers run away when there is a sale on. 😆
