A Guinness and some fish and chips beats a whole lot of travel experiences!

This question can be answered in so many ways and I think it really boils down to personal situations. I went through a very nasty divorce that took a year and a half to finalize. It was brutal and I enjoyed being single and finding myself. In that stage, I was happy being single. My preference is to have a significant other, so I didn’t want that to be my norm.

I haven't spent much time in Auckland, but it recently topped the Economist Intelligence Unit's most liveable cities list (the top 10 were all in Aotearoa, Australia, Japan and Switzerland). Being liveable isn't the same as interesting or exciting for tourists, so status on that list isn't relevant to the topic of this thread. Of the main cities in the country, I like Wellington the best (from what I've seen). Like Auckland, Wellington has a scenic harbour, but Auckland is pretty flat, while the capital is hilly, which I prefer (not the only reason, I hasten to add). Christchurch is nice too. Both cities are half the size of Auckland.
If you're retiring there and planning to travel internationally, long-haul flights from Aotearoa operate only from Auckland (Wellington and Christchurch have non-stop flights to Australian cities, and there was a direct Singapore Airlines fright from WLG-SIN via MEL).

To be honest here, do you really WANT to know? If performance is a primary focus, it’s safe to assume you’re definitely not the ONLY guy for the day/Eve. If he’s a professional, he won’t take your appointment knowing he cannot deliver.

I encourage suggestions for how the Weekend might be enhanced, with some exceptions:
 
I will choose the dates.
 
There will be an early Saturday evening dinner at a specific time and venue.
 
There will be a Sunday afternoon pool event at my temporary residence with certain restrictions (clothing not one of them. ? )
 
Ideas about a Sunday evening dinner are requested. Any other thoughts or ideas are solicited, specifically from those of you who have attended.

Hopefully, there will not be any photographs posted of the party. One of the long-standing Weekend rules has been no cameras allowed. Some of our participants are very concerned about maintaining anonymity.

Wait a minute. The one thing Epigonos does NOT now have and NEVER will have is a spouse. Epigonos lives alone and doesn't cook breakfast even for himself!!!!!

Back to Chicago, I am glad that I made it to Palm Springs last weekend and got to enjoy some time with this amazing group of guys. It was my first time in there and I know for sure that I’ll have many more future visits. Thank you Oliver for hosting a lovely pool party.

i got my first Pfizer shot on Friday. Went well with only a little tenderness in the spot plus yesterday a very mild headache but really nothing requiring a Tylenol. It passed quickly. I’m only scheduled to get the second shot in mid July so really not much will change for me until then.
 
I’m hoping the vaccine supplies will increase in June if the US meets its deadlines and they start to have surplus vaccine but who knows.

This site and this community is a testament to the soul of Guy Fawkes, a man I never met but felt like I knew and had a kinship with. He was obviously a big hearted man to give all of the time energy and heart and soul he put into this community. He was also a thoughtfully rebellious soul, willing to take personal risk to challenge injustice...right up to the line. And he fought for the underdogs, this community here just trying to live our harmless truth without judgement or persecution. This loss comes at the end of a year we have all experienced so much loss, its' magnitude is amplified.
 
Now, we wait....until the day we try to come to this site and it too, has passed on. While I'd love to think this community will live on, it's naive to think that can happen without a platform to bring us all together. Hard to believe there is another Guy Fawkes out there, someone with the heart, the time, the technical ability, the rebelliousness and the willingness to take the risks Guy did. I for one am not that person, which is why I have always been so thankful someone else was. Let's hope that Guy's spirit will live on in someone new, I think he would want that.
 
We all hope that when we pass we have changed the world in some way, whether big or small. Guy changed the world by bringing this community together, and bringing our common interest out of the dark shadows and into the light.
