  1. It’s the guac of the town! This avocado, at five pounds, 3.6 ounces is officially the world’s heaviest, Guinness World Records confirmed this week. Hawaii resident Pamela Wang was on a walk in Kealakekua when she stumbled across the colossal fruit in November. “I pick up avocados every day,” Wang told West Hawaii Today. “But this one . . . it was hard to miss!” A typical avocado weighs about six ounces.
  2. I liked Roberts throughout her career. Marie Barrone was a strident character, & Roberts played her to the hilt. I can see how somebody might have been put off by the character, but that shouldn't reflect on the actress. The same could be said for Parsons, but I think that was a misstep by whomever was (technically) running the show (though obviously Roseanne had big input). I found Bev Harris much more unlikable than Marie Barrone. The difference for me was that Bev's own kids disliked her, and her grandkids weren't too thrilled either. It always frustrates me when a show introduces a character everyone in the show hates. How are we as the viewers supposed to not dislike her? I think ROSEANNE started going downhill fast after its 6th season, and that was right around the time Bev's character became featured a lot more. All that being said, there were several terrific moments for the character: When she confronted her late husband's mistress (played by Tom Arnold's aunt, BTW) at the funeral home. When Roseanne hurt her with a comment, then told Bev to do something mean to her to even things out, & Bev sold her share of the diner to Roseanne's nemesis, Leon. When she was taking care of an injured Roseanne & spoiled a couple of surprises the Conners had for their kids and then she went to see Dan at his bike shop & they had a nice talk. At the Thanksgiving episode when it was revealed that Bev's hubby was celebrating the holiday with his mistress, and Roseanne wanted to call him and confront him. Bev wanted her to stay out of it, telling her "Roseanne, this is not about YOUR father, it's about MY husband." When she was embarrassed after breaking her hip having sex with Red Buttons in the shower, & Roseanne had a talk with her about sex, finding out that Bev had never had derived ANY pleasure from it. Roseanne suggested Bev talk to him about what she'd like him to do. In the episode's epilogue, we saw Bev dressed in full leather, brandishing a whip. When Jackie became annoyed that Fred didn't find Bev unbearable, and then in THAT epilogue, Fred & Bev were on the couch, drinking beer (& I think smoking cigars), and Bev says something about how she didn't know how much longer she could keep up that annoying voice. When Fred asked her if her family knew what she was REALLY like, she said "Now what fun would THAT be?"

  4. A Beatle and a Bee Gee are among the celebrated citizens who have been selected for knighthood and other awards given in the name of Britain's monarch. Britain's Cabinet Office publishes a list of the people receiving honors for merit, service or bravery twice a year: just before New Year's Eve, and on the Saturday in June when Queen Elizabeth II's birthday is officially observed. The New Year's Honors List made public late Friday revealed that Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and Barry Gibb, the oldest and last surviving of the brothers who made up the pop group the Bee Gees, have been tapped as knights. The process starts with nominations from the public, which first are reviewed by a specialist committee and then by a main honors committee. The nominations are then sent to the prime minister before the various honors are bestowed by the queen or senior royals. Starr, drummer for one of the most famous bands in the history of recorded music, missed the Beatles' hardscrabble years, when they had to scramble for a gig to get by, joining John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison just before they rocketed to stardom. There were flashier drummers in the rock pantheon — Keith Moon and Ginger Baker come to mind — but Starr fit the band's approach perfectly, playing with uncanny style and imagination as the band's music branched out from its early American rock influences. The drum parts in "Ticket to Ride," ''Rain," and "Strawberry Fields Forever" are all seen as masterful contributions to timeless songs. Starr also had a way of mangling words that pleased Lennon, who used Starr's offhand quips to develop the songs "A Hard Day's Night" and "Tomorrow Never Knows." "It's great!" Starr said of his knighthood in a brief message Friday. "It's an honor and a pleasure to be considered and acknowledged for my music and my charity work, both of which I love. Peace and love. Ringo." He has enjoyed a successful solo recording career since the Beatles broke up in 1970 and continues to tour with a shifting ensemble known as Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band. Each show features a performance of "With a Little Help from My Friends," his signature song from the Sgt. Pepper album. McCartney, who had lobbied publicly for Starr to receive a knighthood, tweeted his congratulations Saturday. "Huge congrats Sir Ringo! Sir Richard Starkey has a nice ring to it. Best drummer best pal! X Paul," the tweet read. The two are the only surviving Beatles. Lennon was shot dead in 1980 and Harrison died in 2001. The knighthood will allow Starr, 77, to join McCartney, Mick Jagger, Elton John and Van Morrison as 1960s rock royalty honored by the queen. Could Keith Richards be next? Barry Gibb, the last surviving member of the Bee Gees, said he was dedicating his knighthood to his late bandmates, twin brothers Robin Gibb, who died in 2012, and Maurice Gibb, who died in 2003. "I want to acknowledge how responsible my brothers are for this honor," said Gibb, 71. "It is as much theirs as it is mine." He was recognized for services to music and charity. "This is a moment in life to be treasured and never forgotten," he said. The Bee Gees formed in the late 1950s and enjoyed two distinct periods of commercial success: first as a Beatles-influenced pop band and later as leading avatars of the disco movement, particularly on the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack that achieved global fame. The band enjoyed phenomenal success in the disco era of the 1970s, consistently topping the singles charts and racking up huge album sales.
  5. A woman battling breast cancer thrust her arms over her head in both triumph and in pure joy upon marrying the love of her life just hours before her death. Bridesmaid Christina Karas managed to capture the moment just after Heather and David Mosher said their “I do’s” and the image has since gone viral. “She’s getting to shout from the rooftops that she loves Dave and is able to say I’m his wife,” Karas told WFSB. The couple, who first met during swing dance class in 2015, tied the knot at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut just a few days before Christmas, according to the news station. Just 18 hours later, the newly-wed succumbed to her illness. “It reminds me of someone who is crossing the finish line of a marathon or something,” David Mosher said of the photo. David on Dec. 23, 2015 planned on proposing to his love, but before he could Lindsay was handed a surprising diagnosis — a lump in her breast doctors had previously dismissed was cancerous. But David proposed anyway, horse-drawn carriages and all. Over the next year, Karas helped her pal plan the wedding of her dreams despite the triple negative breast cancer diagnosis. “She was so hopeful,” Karas told NBC New York. “The way we would talk about it, you alway kind felt this isn’t it.” Heather admitted to Karas she feared not living until her big day and when her health took a turn, friends, family and doctors were quick to act. They pushed up the wedding originally scheduled for Dec. 30 and intended to just lay the wedding dress across Heather, who they feared was too weak to put it on. But Heather made it into her gown and to the hospital’s chapel where she exchanged vows with Dave in front of her family and friends. “That moment right there was like, ‘Death, I’m not afraid of you!’ I am so in love and I am going to celebrate that love right now,” Karas recalled. Her picture of the moment has since been viewed and shared thousands of times across social media. “She was gorgeous and she just felt like home to me,” David told the news station. “I saw her sick. I saw her in a lot of pain and she didnt’ give up until she married me. It is so humbling that someone could love me like that.”

  7. The last time Sandra Bernhard partied on New Year’s Eve was more than a decade ago, in Palm Springs, Calif., and the experience was “just dreadful,” she says. “New Year’s Eve is not a fun night, unless you’re doing what I do and gather people together,” says the 62-year-old, who started a party of her own: the annual music, comedy and “absurdity of life” storytelling shows she performs at Joe’s Pub (Saturday night at 7:30 and 9:30, Sunday at 9 and 11, JoesPub.org). “I make it an intimate party,” she says of her “Sandomonium” sets there. Bernhard, who also hosts the “Sandyland” radio show on SiriusXM, talks with The Post’s ERIC HEGEDÜS from Chelsea, where she’s lived since 2000 with her daughter, Cicely, and longtime girlfriend, Sara Switzer. I’m on the road a lot. If I’m home, a typical weekend is pretty low-key. I like to stay in my neighborhood. But it’s New York, so worst-case scenario you just walk out the door and there’s always distractions. Saturday morning I often go to the Torah reading at Sixth Street Community Synagogue. Rabbi Gavriel Bellino is modern; his wife’s a lawyer and they only have two kids, as opposed to a hundred. He is supercool and really supportive of the gay community. We go to theater, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen anything. Laurie Metcalf in “A Doll House, Part 2” might have been the last thing I went to. I see her whenever she comes to New York to do a show. I’ll be seeing her in “Three Tall Women” [previewing Feb. 27 at the John Golden Theatre], and we’ll go out for dinner. I’ve been wearing a lot of Rachel Comey, a great designer, and Orla Kiely, whose store is on Bleecker. They do really beautiful dresses and I wear a lot of their stuff for performances on stage. My jewelry’s by Sarah Magid and Erickson Beamon, who started romantic jewelry looks years ago and everybody’s knocked them off over the years. I got the originals. We go to all of the Cookshop restaurants. They have a new one, Shuka, a Middle Eastern restaurant which is excellent. The fish at all the restaurants is always delicious and well-prepared. On Sunday, if it’s football season, we watch football — the Detroit Lions because I’m from Michigan. They never go all the way, but they hang in there. We like underdog teams. If there’s a really interesting thing at a museum, we’ll go — but never on the weekend because it’s just too crazy. You know New York: You’ve got to pick your moments to do things because otherwise you’ll be caught in a deluge of humanity.
  8. You should've just had Marilu Henner by your side throughout your life.
  9. An oldie, but a goodie: https://78.media.tumblr.com/12365190aad40ddedf242a031fda07d3/tumblr_inline_nvabca0IHk1tdwe3b_1280.jpg http://www.manhuntdaily.com/files/Pete-Kuzak-COLT-Studio-Group-gay-porn-model-0.jpg
  10. Oh... it definitely would've been before 1987. (I moved out of my aunt's place mid-1985) Guess I shoulda scrounged up the dough! How/why do you remember the exact date? I had a friend die Sept 25, 1979 (5 weeks after I turned 17, 3 weeks after I went away to college), so that date always jumps out at me. One of the saddest, most pathetic things I ever saw in porn had to be one of his last videos. He wore a cowboy hat throughout, and his hair was drawn in (very obviously) with a magic marker.
  11. Guy Fieri is closing his absurd Guy’s American Kitchen and Bar in Times Square. The 500-seat super-restaurant will shut its doors after a last hurrah on Sunday, according to Eater.com. When it launched in 2012, the restaurant — which served Fieri’s famous “Donkey Sauce,” among other enduringly regrettable items — was met with a critical reception frostier than Fieri’s tips. But it has since been a sizzling hit with tourists. In a statement to Page Six, Fieri didn’t give a reason for the closure, saying only that he is proud of the 5 ¹/₂-year run. But it could be because the restaurant couldn’t match the culinary virtuosity of 44th Street rival Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Or it could be that, as one Yelp reviewer said while imploring diners to go literally anywhere else in the neighborhood, “the Guitar Center may actually have better service and food.”
  12. Have you noticed there's always a little label at the top of all the bowls Martha uses (to add ingredients) that has the name of the ingredient and measurement on it? I love Bridget & Julia as the co-hosts of ATK & Cook's Country. They obviously really get along well, & each has an endearing sense of humor. Julia laughs easily. I remember an episode from Kimball's last years where they ran outtakes after the credits and she kept cracking up. There was an episode from this season in which Bridget taught how to make sticky buns. Julia said she'd never really liked them, but went nuts over this recipe. She (& Bridget) couldn't stop eating, & Bridget cracked a couple of jokes (including "I wouldn't kick this out of bed"). Julia was laughing so much that at one point she said "I'm crying!" Of course, she never stopped eating the whole time. Julia has said her favorite part of cooking is the prep work. She is truly a marvel with a knife, but you definitely sit there thinking "I could never do that." That's why I like Ellie Krieger of Ellie's Real Good Food. When she chops veggies, it's obvious she's no virtuoso, as she does it slowly and methodically. Plus I like the fact that the credits show that her show was funded at least partially by crowdsourcing (gofundme). From Wikipedia: Krieger was a fashion model during her late teens and early 20s for theWilhelmina Models agency. During her modeling career, she became conscientious of what she was eating and decided to change her eating habits to live a healthier life. Krieger has a bachelor's degree in clinical nutrition from Cornell University, and has a master's in nutrition from Columbia University. Krieger is a registered dietitian and nutritionist and was an adjunct professor at New York University in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health.
  13. I like him, too, & developed a bit of a crush on him, but now I can't stop noticing that he only talks out of one side of his mouth. Apparently he was born with some kind of nerve damage on the other side, & I find myself wondering what it would be like to kiss him.
  14. Lidia is 70. She often has 'grandma' on the show. That's her mother: Bastianich lives in (Douglaston) Queens, New York, with her mother, Erminia Motika. Bastianich's own kitchen has served as the stage set for all four of her television series, and the garden that Erminia maintains provides many of the ingredients featured in the shows. Erminia, who answers to "grandma," frequently serves as a sous-chef in various episodes of the television series. The only thing that annoys me about Lidia is that she's one of the few hosts who don't tell you how much of every ingredient she's adding. I guess she doesn't want to give anything away for free, figuring you'll buy her cookbooks to find out. I lived with my aunt for a few years in college, & Lidia's first restaurant was a few blocks away.

    He's shed his glorious muscles. My favorite Kuzak pic: It makes a great desktop image. http://themancrushblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/pete-kuzak+coltstudiogroup-1-1015x1024.jpg http://iv1.lisimg.com/image/3197595/670full-pete-kuzak.jpg http://gaybearlove.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Colt-Studio-Group-Pete-Kuzak-Hairy-Muscle-Hunk-With-Hairy-Cock-Amateur-Gay-Porn-09.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BB0fTuRId6U/VALgXMQSRjI/AAAAAAAAPT8/JoYQ9tOyQ1A/s1600/51935_08.jpg http://img-hw.xvideos.com/videos/profiles/galleries/83/0a/43/ivancool/gal265768/pic_3_big.jpg http://gaybearlove.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Colt-Studio-Group-Pete-Kuzak-Hairy-Muscle-Hunk-With-Hairy-Cock-Amateur-Gay-Porn-15.jpg http://24.media.tumblr.com/J7Hs3Q3syn8o9glmRU18fwF7o1_1280.jpg HARD http://hungamateur.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Colt-Studio-Group-Pete-Kuzak-Hairy-Muscle-Hunk-With-Hairy-Cock-Amateur-Gay-Porn-12.jpg
  17. I have gotten a few tips and occasional inspiration, but I don't have the knife skills or equipment or patience to cook like the pros. Plus, due to bad carpal tunnel problems in each hand (had surgery on both, it came back in both), at times I don't have the dexterity. I watch cooking shows to relax, or (to be honest) to get me hungry when I'm in the mood to eat. America's Test Kitchen Cook's Country Martha Stewart's Cooking School Martha Bakes Lidia's Kitchen (occasionally Sarah's Weeknight Meals or Ellie's Real Good Food or Pati's Mexican Table)
  18. I always laugh when I see her Aveeno commercials. The tag line is always "Naturally beautiful...", spoken by a woman with bleached blonde hair, who had a nose job before her career took off.
  19. I don't like Travolta, but I don't dislike him. How can ANYONE stand Gottfried? (though I must admit when I had 2 mini strokes in May & missed a lot of work, I wished I had AFLAC). I liked the show SEINFELD, but didn't love/revere it like many do. Each of the 4 characters annoyed me at different times. Jerry was never as over-the-top annoying as the other 3; he was just steadily annoyingish. I was never a fan of (or turned on by) Gibson before all the crap; now fuggetaboutit. I can't help it... I found THE NANNY entertaining (mostly for Niles/CC).
  20. As actors/characters I liked left SVU, I had less & less reason to keep watching. I disliked him from the start, and when it became apparent he was going to stick around as the DA, I stopped watching.
  21. Murphy Brown's best friend?!?!?!?!? http://l7.alamy.com/zooms/6267aa7688fa4a24a0d6cdb0aa49c97a/murphy-brown-tv-candice-bergen-joe-regalbuto-mbn-054-bkjrtw.jpg
