Recently I saw the movie Beach Rats. Kinda sexy, kinda sad. Seemed to be an accurate portrayal, IMHO, of the struggle many of us share with gay and bi teenagers. Very good advice.  I understand his frustrations, but he keeps doing the same thing with these loser prospects and expecting a different result.  Time wasters are time wasters.  Cheap bastards are cheap bastards. You need to use screening questions to identify them and get rid of them.   My favorites, in my business, are the ones who ask,"Why does it cost so much?"  I used to reason with them like Jarrod does, but a long time ago I realized I don't owe them an explanation and learned to anwer them "Because it does.  Anything else?" I lived in Santa Fe in the 90's and loved it.  It was more of a bohemian hippy art colony then and less Rodeo Drive.  It was expensive then and has grown more so.  A lot of long time residents up there (even ones who love it there) retire to lower elevations so they don't have to deal with the altitude and snowy winters in their old age.
I like ABQ.  I would gladly move there, myself.  The show "Breaking Bad" did accurately capture a gritty underside of ABQ. (65th highest violent crime rate in the US according to the FBI Uniform Crime Report) I would love to live there.  There's a ton of stuff to do in ABQ.  I would not want to raise a family there, though.  
 

I guess my body would get used to the altitude.  People tell me they are building a new hospital and numerous town homes. I'd rather live with less tourists.  Thank you for the information
