I'm black and don't live in LA but I'm interested in this and following for when I'm next in the area.
 
When I contact POC, I never say anything about my race before showing up, however if it's a white guy I tend to let them know up front. This way no one's time is wasted. I'd hate to show up somewhere and the guy decides not to answer the door, look disappointed, or have a bad attitude.

I also had a masseur go on and on about countries the United States shouldn't let people in from, a list that included my home country
 
Fortunately, most have been welcoming and race is not an issue.

I may tip generously, but I think it is worth every penny and I guess that is what it comes down to in the end -- my perceived value. If that makes me a fool, so be it.

My other decision process is if they come to me or me to them. Generally I go to them
Also if they have a high price and state table but no table due to travel then I factor that in. I figure i'm not getting the "full experience". I much prefer table vs. bed any day of the week

As I have said before i'm MAINLY looking for deep/theraputic work. But lets be honest some sensual aspects and and ending are nice. So I look at ads 120 vs. 160 and go HMMMMM
 
I hope i'm not coming across cheap. I don't have TONS of cash to throw around. I don't mind paying for a good massage. But WONT tolerate a rub-n-tug UNLESS that has been talked about up front and i was aware (then it falls on me).

Yeah, there are a few options in Atlanta and my time and budget just can't stretch to try them all out. Ryan is good looking but he's not the only good looking guy here and there are regular traveling visitors who are also competing for their time.
 
I'm sure these guys all have their own types when they are out and about on the prowl so I can understand some may not like one body type versus another but if you're putting yourself out there open to the masses, then it's not a good look to start cutting good paying people off. I mean, the whole point is to get paid so if a guy is 70 and 450 pounds or 25 and 180 or 43 and muscled, it's all the same money.
 
I was under the impression that it is these guys regulars that really pay the bills and the one off customers are just extra so if it were me, I'd rather go with the sure thing. The few threads here about Ryan all show the same pattern of him cutting people off.

For example, if the massuer is traveling and normally charges 100/hr but looks at the local competition who's charging 140 but he's clearly more muscular/better looking/unique ethic background for the area or whatever metric) than the locals, shouldn't he raise prices accordingly?
 
For example, if he's getting a lot of bookings, could he then consider raising prices for the rest of the trip or just take note for the next visit?
 
If a guy's a little thinner, average or chubby (not saying that there isn't a market for these body types because there is) going to a market where guys are charging his 140 from his market but they are in better shape or more classically attractive also charging that. Should he not consider lowering prices a little to attract more attention while he's there? Especially if he's "Available Now" for most of his stay.

The music was actually kind of cool, but unsure if it was appropriate for massage. I was ultimately fine with it. The only kicker is that he kept quietly singing the lyrics u see his breath. And I was focusing on that. And also caught him looking at the YouTube videos while massaging me. Then end was amazing so ultimately I didn’t gripe- but this totall reminded me of that experience.
 
I’ve always wondered about the music. The worst is when you have massage style instrumental music that’s a copy of actual current music- just without words. I spend most my time on the table thinking “wait. What fucking song is this??? I know it. What is it though?? Ugh. I have to figure this out. Hmmm, hmmm, hummm, him, Laaaa laaa hmmm hmmm. Ugh. Can’t figure it out.”
Drove me nuts but was spa music so couldn’t do much. Lol

I like the new age / Asian sound. Music with lyrics or instrumentals that I know the lyrics of take me out of it. I like to drift off.
 
I absolutely agree about the phone/iPad speaker sound quality. A decent quality Bluetooth speaker can be bought for $25.00 or less. Especially for those traveling guys. Also I hate commercials. 10 bucks for a streaming service can be written off at tax time. Or spend $.99 for a sounds of nature track.

The massage scene has changed so much that you never know what you're going to get, no matter what you pay for. I 've gotten so that I always book a therapeutic massage and if it turns into more, great. If it doesn't, then at least I got what I paid for.

It takes minimal observation skills to see who is walked out on: Asians, older guys, heavyset guys. A few months ago I pointed it out to a very attractive white/latino guy. We actually put a wager on how many times I would clear a room. Suffice to say I won and his eyes were opened.
 
For the record, I absolutely, unequivocally know many of these guys are racist. That's because I had a super hot white friend hit them up on Grindr and ask them. You'd be surprised how honest (and racist) some white guys are when they think they're talking to another white guy.
 
Of course, I'm not everyone's type. And I know some people are just rude. But there are a ton of racists out there. For the record, I didn't start this thread nor bring up race first. And another poster started the Wilshire spa thread and said the same thing.

Maybe you'll get some perspective if you watch the first Kindr Grindr episode where minorities talk about how they face micro and macro aggressions in every day situations. Yes, even going to a spa meant for minorities.

I normally visit guys at their incalls. I never pay less than the posted or quoted rate. Usually just 10-15 more than whatever it is. I don't carry a lot of cash so I tend to not withdraw much more than the quoted rate as I usually pay in cash. When I opt for a debit card payment I'll tip a little more to make up for the service fees and " inconvenience" of it not being cash.
 
I figure if you're working from home, you already have overhead you've considered in your rate. Since I'm a regular for a few providers, always prompt, and don't cancel, I also feel my being a sure thing and reliable is a benefit to all parties involved.
 
Also since I'm consistent and reliable, I have gotten extras or more attention unprompted, not every time but it has happened. I take that as both of us getting comfortable with each other and familiar. Being friendly, warm, hospitable, and nice goes a long way with me. I have had massages from guys who had good technical skills but didn't come off as being friendly and I still tipped them but I have not and don't plan to return.
