The other day I walked into the clay room, not knowing two guys were playing in the blind corner.

I sat down and closed my eyes because 1) I wanted to relax and 2) I give guys a pretty wide berth and don't watch. However they interpreted my actions, they were not having me in there. They froze like statues while staring at me. So I got up, apologized (I know you hate that boiledeggz) and left.

Probably an hour later I returned, not knowing they were in the blind corner again. One of the guys -- a white guy from the previous incident -- got up and left. The other guy said he was fine with me being there.

So here's the best part. Maybe about 30 min later, I was getting ready to leave. I wanted to dry off after my final shower. Went to the clay room, which was pretty full. Everyone was fine with me being there.

The aforementioned white guy comes in and sits across the room from me. A few minutes later, he gets up, sits right next to me and proceeds to glare at me. He's sitting next to me, so his head is intentionally turned left while he's giving me the nastiest, meanest look. I continue to stare forward/close me eyes but can feel his eyes on me.

Eventually he gets up and leaves but it was meant as an intimidation tactic. Who the hell does that?

Is there really any expectation of privacy at these spas?

If everyone has paid the same price they should be able to use the facilities as well.

As long as you are not inviting yourself into other people's spaces or glaring at them I don't see why someone would have a problem. If the place is packed and every area or room has people in it, are they just gonna leave or keep migrating until they find the emptiest space?

(White) patrons have a problem because of my race (Asian).

The other guy (who was black) actually felt bad for me and was perplexed by the white guy's behavior. He was like "he probably thinks you work here."

My response was "does it LOOK like I work here?" and the black guy said no. We joked maybe I should get some hideous tattoos or surround myself with white friends next time.

All joking aside, getting walked out on happens to me every visit so I'm used to it. The obvious intimidation still disturbs me.

And Century isn't even half as bad as Wilshire, where guys literally won't enter a room you're in and make it known (they will stand outside, peek in, and only enter when you leave -- often with an eye-roll or loud, frustrating sigh).

And to answer your question, if a place is packed, I am the one who ends up leaving because I'm tired of getting walked out on. Even if a guy is cool with me, if he sees other guys walking out, he might start copying their behavior. One time I just retreated to the bathroom because guys who walked out on me were literally in every room and I didn't want to "ruin their fun" with my presence.

Anyway, to get this back on track, Wi is just a little bit further down Wilshire Blvd but in traffic it can end up 20-25 min away. Grand is an option but I hate they have security tags in their towels and the place is pretty dingy. And you have read my feelings on Wilshire.

I did always want to try the Korea spa experience in K-Town that I've read about. The bath, the steam, massage and the food.

But I'm perplexed to read above that an Asian can't feel comfortable in a Korean spa. If these places are truly overrun by selfish, racist drama qweenz then I'll pass.

No doubt! Btw, we have talked about the subject of sexual racism/preference many times on here yet a frequent poster said he would never date/hire men of color and he was showered with likes because of his bravery. I posted pics of blond geeks on the thread and also pics of a middle Eastern pornstar from men.com and no reply from him.

I can't find the thread.

Thank you @Drained Empty for sharing your experience with us!

I don’t know you or the circumstances involved, but is there any possibility someone walking out was just a rude dude or maybe someone not attracted which has nothing to do with your race?

Some white dudes aren’t into me and I’m white. I can’t claim racism.

This is a long running recurring theme for @Drained Empty

Dude, I'm just sharing my experience.

It takes minimal observation skills to see who is walked out on: Asians, older guys, heavyset guys. A few months ago I pointed it out to a very attractive white/latino guy. We actually put a wager on how many times I would clear a room. Suffice to say I won and his eyes were opened.

For the record, I absolutely, unequivocally know many of these guys are racist. That's because I had a super hot white friend hit them up on Grindr and ask them. You'd be surprised how honest (and racist) some white guys are when they think they're talking to another white guy.

Of course, I'm not everyone's type. And I know some people are just rude. But there are a ton of racists out there. For the record, I didn't start this thread nor bring up race first. And another poster started the Wilshire spa thread and said the same thing.

So no, it's not just in my head. And yes, it is a recurring theme.

Maybe you'll get some perspective if you watch the first Kindr Grindr episode where minorities talk about how they face micro and macro aggressions in every day situations. Yes, even going to a spa meant for minorities.

Don't let them ruin your experience.

Century is actually a decent facility and the food is good. Wii is even better and generally no attitude there. Spa Palace is an option. Perhaps a weekend morning to midday.

Just avoid Century if you don't want to deal with primadonnas and nastiness.

As for the Grindr shorts, I hadn't seen episode 2 (body shaming) until just now, and the guy in the wheelchair said it best:

"I want to do all the things my peers are doing but I have to navigate prejudice so openly. And I just don't think it's fair."

You're way nicer than I would have been. I would have flat out asked him what his fucking problem was. Don't tip toe around these self entitled trophy queens. You deserve to be there as much as they do. It's a place to relax first and foremost, not a bath house.

I'll find common ground with @Drained Empty and say yes there are racist guys who frequent the Kspas, with the aforementioned walking out and attitude. That does happen. Yes, the part that I don't agree with is the apologizing part. I guess I have a bit of a confrontational streak in me, and if someone physically intimidated me like that I'd glare back, or depending on how pissed I am, make an absolute scene. And well if he physically touched me, all bets are off and the police may be involved.

LOL this is the one part where being Asian might work in my favor. I'll say that I'm a real spa patron and that he is some cock hungry slut trolling the kspas.

I guess my experience has been the other way around, because I find Wilshire more diverse

I've never had any issues at either spa, but I'd agree with this. At Wilshire, I felt like it was diverse, regular people hanging out. At Century, my first thought was "so glad I hit the gym." You can definitely feel that the scene is different.

Here's what the scene was during a recent visit.

Steamroom standing room only as guys lined up to try and suck this well hung twink (big dick privilege indeed).

It was a motley crew including a guy who was the spitting image of David Gest (Liza Minnelli's late ex husband) right down to the unnatural hair color (which stained his towel).

A Korean patron complained so they cleared out the steamroom only to have it fill up again right after. There was no discretion as guys were visibly crowding inside and trying to get with each other.

I don't know what the appeal of sucking off a guy that a dozen guys did previously. A few guys couldn't deepthroat so the twink's dick was probably covered in bile, saliva, and God knows what else.

Gross.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks to those who are sharing their experiences at these spas, many of them do have racists/rude-bodyshaming patrons that are intolerable. Ultimately, I like going to Century though because it is a safe space to relax and play and not completely off the wall drug den like LA bathhouses. But we need to continue this conversation about racism/body shaming etc, which is a problem in the gay community and it should not be for a population fighting for equality and respect! Just because you may not be in to someone does not mean you need to make "a scene" about it.

With all of what I read in this thread and what I witness living in DC, can someone explain to me why there’s this specific genre of white gay men who are such delusional, arrogant, bitchy, assholes?

It seems to be that they hate everyone who isn’t a white, gay, blond or redheaded twink or twunk.

First of all, YOU paid to be wherever you are and should NEVER leave. If they have a problem with your being there for whatever reason, that’s their problem!!!

Quick story: my gym is full of white bitchy queens (and the other races of snow queens who chase them around for validation).... and yes they are rude..

So after a long workout, I go into the steam room, and the two average looking Cokehead whores walked out (guess my blackness bothered them)..

So now, after my workout, I make a purposeful effort to get some steam just to piss then off, and the last time I walked in, I literally opened the door for them and gave them the motion to leave...

Don’t let these bitches intimidate you, ever!!! Whether you’re black, Asian, Hispanic, fat, short, old, or any other group they like to marginalize.. own your pride and walk into any setting with confidence... and send them the ultimate message that they can kiss your entire ass!!!

What makes me so mad is that white gays will preach to the high heavens about gay rights, but will marginalize the living fuck out of everyone else, far worse.

The next time I go to LA, I think I’m going to Century Spa, just to annoy some racist, bitchy WeHo whores. LOL

The racism and body shaming will only end when people stop asking superficial white men for validation....

If they say on a dating profile that they’re “not into asians, blacks, fats, fems , etc”, don’t even bother trying to change their mind... just block their ignorant asses... stop asking for validation and acceptance!!!

You give them power by begging for their validation.

So I suggest you walk back into any place you have felt rejected, with your chest out, shoulders back, and sit your ass in whatever spa, sauna, salt cave , you choose and if they leave, LET THEM.

And one more thing,

If these delusional arrogant wanna-be trophy queens were so fabulous and hot, they wouldn’t have to resort to sucking random dicks in a spa steamroom... no one is better than anyone... and some of these people need to really be put in their place.
