They went through my iPhone, saw promo flyers etc for the event in Miami and created a story that I was going to Miami to make money DJing, with no plans of returning (the agent by mistake only printed a one-way ticket when I paid for a round-trip, which I didn't realize until it was too late). 
I didn't have energy to fight the ban, so for those six years I'd either drive to Buffalo, have a friend drive me there, or take an express bus there then fly out of Buffalo to wherever in the USA. By land it's easy going through vs. the nonsense you deal with U.S. (or Canadian) agents when flying.

Yes, I'm a US citizen, which by US law means they cannot deny me entry into my own country.
That said, it doesn't mean that other countries and CBPs can't be shitheads if they want to be.

I just returned from NYC from last weekend's trip.  I didn't see anyone using Metrocards.  The OMNY readers are now functional.  I set up one of my credit cards as a "transit" card in my iPhone, then used my iPhone to tap the OMNY reader to pay for subway fare.
The Q70-SBS bus transfer from LGA to 74th ST/Roosevelt Station (subway connections) or WoosideAve/61st (for LIRR connection) is now free.  You pay once you enter the Roosevelt Station/Woodside Station.
Advanced planning my save transit costs.  If you qualify for a reduced-Fare, you can apply for a reduce-fare metro card, then use the number assigned to active an OMNY account so you can use your phone to tap the OMNY reader for the reduced-fare.  It took under 30 days to apply and get a reduced-fare metro card.  All of the buses and subways have OMNY readers now.

You may want to try some of the events put on at Rainbow Playground in Long Island City. They probably have the most diverse attendees out of all the NYC parties.  The promoter even does events in Manhattan. Compared to other venues, the Queens location is the most spacious and even has private rooms.  Tuesday nights are usually packed with up to 100 guys, as are Fridays and Saturdays. The subway is across the street from the venue for those who are commuting from Manhattan.
SCUM is another promoter that touts itself as having the most inclusive events of all colors, sizes and even gender/sexual identities. They have weekly events 3 nights a week in Manhattan and once a month in Brooklyn.

Decided to just give an updated thread on him. Lots of posts in recommendation threads but his own thread I see was back in 2018 and I can't post in that. Anyways, I saw him on Monday and I see why he's one of the main handful of names that pop-up for NY providers.
