I hope everyone gets to see the new Russell T Davies story about gay London in the 1980s, “It’s A Sin”. It streams in the US today on HBO Max. I watched it with my younger partner and had to explain some things to him, but we both loved it. I found the dialogue strange at times but it was very compelling. The acting is of a high order, and especially in the last episode it is strikingly truthful. FWIW I’d recommend not bingeing on it; we watched an episode each evening.

I’m intrigued that we haven’t heard more from @Smurof. I feel @nycman gave excellent, pithy advice overall and @Luv2play gave helpful advice on the familial aspects. My advice to @Smurof is on two fronts: 1. NEVER take legal action (whether in civil or criminal cases). You are likely to incur costly legal fees in taking advice and from what you’ve stated, it seems unlikely you will get the retribution you seek. 2. Reach out to those family members you care about and simply state that you want to renew ties of affection etc. If they don’t respond, MOVE ON. Well said @rvwnsd. I’d add that the climate is generally benign and SD makes for a better Winter vacation break than Key West nowadays. There’s still gay life in SD: I’ve had interesting encounters in La Jolla and at Black’s Beach. There are still nice young men who are happy to meet nice older men. It’s just not what it once was.

We saw the film a while back. It was streaming but I can’t recall if it was on Netflix or Amazon Prime. We both found the film dull and overlong. It should have been edited much better. This is a really interesting thread. I lived in San Diego in 1979 and 1980. Back then, I was young and single so I had a very sociable time. I recall how many attractive young men came through San Diego; often they were transients or temporarily in SD. There were several popular gay bars and dance-clubs. Have you asked him if he can suggest a replacement @savantsav? My experience when I had similar needs for personal training and “extras” - some years ago, when visiting Sydney and London - was that trainers in a big gym always knew which of them was willing to do more.
