Consumer spending has been down for a year, but only among low wage earners. Now it's going down for the entire middle class.
Cause is likely inflation and credit- fueled spending...a vice not limited to gay men by any means.

In my area, overnights can range from 1000 to 1500, although I've been quoted higher by visitors.

these type events used to be free-spirited & fun, before crystal meth took over.

I would say it would be more with inflation rather than this. Things are getting more expensive. For most probably have to budget something for this. As money gets tighter, these excursions wont happen as frequently.

I tend to think that not really. The reason for that is that at this point in the political environment where we are, people are just polarized, and what happens is being used to just reinforce what they have already chosen to believe, and act accordingly. So people who hire will continue hiring, people who judge and don't hire out of their beliefs of morality will continue reaffirming their preference in their beliefs and actions.
As a client, lately I have been watching what I spend, and that includes hiring, due to inflation. I believe that is a more influential factor that might or might not be related to the current political climate. All business are influenced by the overall economy, some for better, some for worse. Just my thoughts, not law.

I'm not amazed by this. From time to time, we have threads on here about perceived, potential issues with law enforcement. It stems from fear of being caught doing something naughty, like having sex with another man. I knew a guy who believed that if he paid for a book about coming out with a credit card, "they" would be able to use the transaction record to inform his employer that he bought said book. He never could explain who "they" were, nor could he explain why his employer would care. 
 

You can either make yourself more attractive.  Or hire less attractive providers.   They can only pretend so much. 
 

I hate to say it, but some states in the US are probably going to start being dangerous for gay escorts and hookups soon. Low hanging fruit for ambitious and amoral prosecutors.
I think the current slowdown is due to economic factors.
