  1. I have to ask - if you don't want to use RM, is it easy enough to pick up guys for hiring? Or safe?
  2. You want to play with economic data? Below is the very reason I felt 300/hr was too much before the pandemic: Anesthesiologist Average base pay: $164 per hour Orthodontist Average base pay: $118 per hour Psychiatrist Average base pay: $103 per hour Commercial pilot Average base pay: $50 per hour U.S. Marine Corps officer Average base pay: $42 per hour These are from 9 months ago, so feel free to adjust for inflation.
  3. Your co-workers are not your friends. The company you work for is not your family. Your boss isn't really concerned about your well-being. And....
  4. I should also add a caveat- I see people from NYC, California, and overseas visit Chicago and charge these prices. Chicago isn't NYC. Not all providers adjust for location. Their prerogative, but it'll probably hurt their business.
  5. It seems like there's been an influx of inexperienced, young, and high charging escorts as the pandemic subsided. I have a theory. They probably heard what everyone here heard. There's pent up demand, and a lot of extra money out there. Most won't stay long. They're just looking for the chance at quick bucks. I have seen some "inflation" from well-reviewed escorts, but not all. Sometimes that influences my decision; sometimes it doesn't. I personally believe the "standard 300" fee from before the pandemic was too high; maybe the pandemic corrected it.
  6. Well, he didn't even bother returning my text when he visited Chicago, so I suppose he's busy enough.
  7. Yes - I did (I only focused on one person at a time). I generally do this out of courtesy to escorts - I don't want to waste their time or contact them needlessly. However, after reading the feedback on my question, I'm thinking if that's one of the reasons why. If it's common for escorts to text with multiple clients at once, I guess it's okay for me as well. If I would have contacted more potential hires, I would have been more likely to find somebody. Also, I usually schedule ahead of time, because it helps with the logistics. Hiring for the same night puts more pressure on the escort. (I don't think this is what you meant to convey, but I'm afraid that's how I took it 🙂)
  8. I guess I'd ask both providers and clients here if they've noticed this, but I've been getting some _really_ rude responses to my attempts to hire escorts I haven't met before (not to mention prices in excess of 400/500 an hours). Here's some incidents I had contacting several Chicagoland escorts yesterday (I texted them in the early evening, asked if they were available later that night, was completely open about my preferences (no anal), and offered to pay for Uber both ways on an outcall: - I texted 4 people, 3 of which quoted me at least 400 an hour + Uber (I asked for a 2 hour session, but they didn't adjust their rates accordingly). - One kid with only 2 RM reviews wanted 900 for 2 hours. He was located right next to me, and I would pay for the Uber. When I declined, he responded with a _completely unsolicited_ counteroffer that was still obscene. His text was worded like: "Oh man, I'll do it for X dollars; I DARE you!" Did he think I'd hire him when he spoke to me like that, even if it was a reasonable offer? - Then there's the openly blatant con artists. One guy, I was purely willing to hire, but I thought it reasonable to ask him why 3 of his 15 RM reviews were bad. He told me he was insulted by the question. Luckily, he was honest enough to cancel the session before I would have. Right now, I'm only hiring one of my 3 regulars, because when I reach out to "new blood," I get treated ilke this. I'd rather jack off than deal with such rude people. Is this the new post-pandemic attitude? Obscene rates combined with rudeness? I've been hiring for 8 years, have always been nice to my hires, and have always contacted providers in good faith.
  9. Give me 10 more minutes...
  10. Viagra works extremely well for me, in that it makes and keeps me hard for a while. However, it doesn't really simulate my libido, or mental horniness. Is there anything for that, or is testosterone treatment the only option?
  11. Don't forget the social safety net, and universal healthcare that includes therapy. In the U.S., if you need help but don't have money or the right insurance, you're SOL.
  12. For the broad picture: gay men in general have higher rates of addiction, psychological problems, and suicide.
  13. I was wondering if anyone has ideas for what the "best" cities are if you're interested in hiring bodybuilders, or men with bodybuilder builds. I don't limit it to ones that advertise on RentMen - I mean any bodybuilder who is willing to get intimate with another guy (not ones that only allow muscle worship). I'm looking for bodybuilders are are willing to kiss.
  14. I reached out to him once when he was in Chicago, but he was leaving the next day, so I didn't get any information from him. After what Curious said, might not try again. 4 sub-perfect reviews in a single RM ad are suspicious.
  15. @Jarrod_UncutI understand how sometimes escorts don't have a choice for short-term, short-stay visits. But from a client's perspective, that doesn't matter. If a client is busy during that time (and for short visits we're more likely to be), then we're simply not going to hire. It's just business.
  16. I'm not above giving - the regular I'm discussing, I sent him a Xmas gift. However, at the same time, I think of all my hiring as "giving." The best type of business relationship is where each side appreciates the other - I appreciate his responsiveness and skill, and he appreciates getting the extra money on a regular basis. And we've told each other that. Like it or not, any money a provider receives is money not paid to another provider. And there are a lot of providers chasing a few clients (with a few small exceptions like after a pandemic ends). What is surplus money to me, goes to someone who needs it for rent, education, training, etc. I ask very little from providers, and am considered "easy money." So to me, all hiring is a form of charity.
  17. That's a mighty big "if" there. I once helped out a regular I'd been seeing for 2 years. It didn't stop him from trying to rip me off when he had the chance.
  18. Yeah - I was going to raise this too. I just got an Oculus Quest 2. I joined what seems to be the only viable and active VR gay site: https://ultimatevrporn.com/visit/virtualrealgay. It's okay, but the porn is pretty conventional, and about 90% of it is filmed from the perspective of you getting a bj (which I don't like receiving). What I am looking for are places and models that are willing to do custom professional VR videos, more aimed at my tastes. Also, I can't find any VR Cam Shows with men, only women (even the can shows linked to by gay sites!).
  19. There's also hotels with "in-house escort services." That would be a great alternative too - like ordering room service. I found one, but it's in Medellin, and in Medellin, you hardly need a brothel. https://www.tuhotelroma.com/travestismedellin.html
  20. No way! Cancelling for a positive Covid test potentially benefits both parties, and nobody owes the other for something that is essentially up to chance. One advantage of a regular is they know you'll hire them again when you can, and it's in both of our interests not to risk each others' health. And I've been hiring this guy for 5 years now. Establishing professional networks is the best way to get good and reliable service.
  21. Okay. I've been meaning to calculate and ask this for awhile. Chicago's a Midwestern city in the U.S. How do other cities stack up? And do these numbers mean anything to you?
  22. I'm hiring my closest regular next weekend (have to travel a bit since I'm not moving back to Chicago yet). Can't be riskier than when we met during the Delta surge. We've both had full vaccines, boosters, and we both have home tests for beforehand.
  23. Ditto (although not so DL). When you have a demanding job, and a guy is going to visit only on a weekday or two, there's no way I can just drop everything. This is made harder because, since they're only in for a night or two, I'll be outbid by anyone who wants an overnight.
  24. Too bad, but when I see RM ads for bodybuilders and: 1. They list their SO as Straight or "ask me" 2. They don't list kissing in their "intos" It's pretty likely they won't kiss properly.
  25. Hey Doe Be Doe (or anyone else here) - is anyone thinking of going to Medellin in 2022? I've never traveled to South America before, and was eyeing this spring (April to May). I'd be heading alone, and am only interested in hiring (both online and in clubs), not hooking up with anyone. But it's always good to know someone in Medellin who's traveling for the same reason, if only to watch each others' backs.
