  1. I was being facetious in that moment, tbh. But if proof exists about the particular location and behavior of a small section of our brains consistent with homosexual desires, is it a big stretch to imagine other parts of the brain might have also benefited otherwise from proximity to the sissy cells?
  2. Like theatre, opera is moving forward. It has to. And like all things resulting from progress, some will not fit into the usual sorting places in our minds. Yet.
  3. This is probably why GaGa did two shots of tequila on air with Colbert. (I would LOVE to do shots w Lady G) She and AD will both survive a stinker I think.
  4. Can the one traveling, regardless of race or provider/client, ask his host: hey I’m discreet but I don’t know the area, is there any reason to think your neighbors might not be cool with my presence?
  5. Saw this article today, and thought it might be something to share for discussion. A study about college degree-holders the US showed that gay men were more likely to have a college degree (or two) than straight men. (The one demographic that seemed to have slowed in acquiring degrees over the period examined are gay women.) Now, I am fully aware that many here do not self-identify as gay, and while I don’t know the exact questions posed to respondents were anything other than self-identification, it seems unlikely they would have to slap a dick out of one’s mouth to get confirmation on that question. So my references here using the plurals “your” “our” and “we” apply to men who would check the box next to Gay rather than the one next to It’s Complicated. It does ask about why this may be occurring, and suggested that one reason may be the need to excel in areas under our control to compensate for not living up to societal expectations which is not under an individual’s control. I wondered if it’s also a need to extend the period where “I‘m so busy with schoolwork” remains a viable excuse for not finding that girl to “go steady” Ugh. I had a girlfriend for all 4 years of university, and of course knew in my heart it was doomed. I worked hard to get my BFA, had multiple offers for grad school TA’s but I did not want more school. In my line of pursuit, advanced degrees are only an advantage in pursuit of careers in academia - No thanks. Not long after college ended, so did the girlfriend. For the next few years, having been with men but still not out to family, I was able to use poverty as my excuse (BFA, remember…) for not finding the right girl. Is this data somehow indicative of our need to fend off or delay societal disapproval? Or are we just smarter, in addition to being more clever, talented, funny and having better taste? Did you get a degree, two-years of college or more? If you are looking back from a distance of more than a few years, do you feel your sexuality played a role in the motivation required to get it? Did you go beyond 4 yrs? Did you also excel in school as an adolescent, and feel anything akin to the “best little boy in the world” syndrome? Be sure to show your work on the back of the page. Pencils up. Time starts now.
  6. His profile is gone, but there was a hot vers daddy, as recently as a year maybe. Once advertised as Rob, later MuscleGuyNextDoor I think. Perhaps the mix up?
  7. Well, this development has helped me make an important decision. From now on, I will once again be buying all of my party plates, bathtub stickers, and hinky makeup at Nieman Marcus.
  8. It’s not without some effort - but I find a bit of research to be the same as “sweat equity”. Don’t worry, I’m very keen on hydration…
  9. A business CAN pause increases on top salaries in order to avoid burning loyal customers. It chooses not to. It’s a 25% price hike across the board.
  10. It’s not really the memorable part of the movie, no shade to Lady Burtka’s derrière. Rosamund Pike is perfect casting, the delicate flower with an intoxicating scent to lure you into being carved up with her hacksaw. Did not read the novel, but it’s a great thrill ride.
  11. It’s a multi-billion dollar enterprise with CEO making annually several million, and employees paid minimum wage. No, it’s not justified. It’s greed.
  12. Just now realizing that a good handful of my things go all the way back to my earliest memories of Christmas, even a couple things of my folks that go back nearly 100yrs. (Felt stockings) and stuff that was homemade. Can’t put it all out, but whenever I get to visit with it for a bit it’s nice to recall the exquisite agony of anticipation that built to its Christmas Eve crescendo for my sisters and I, being certain we heard something on the roof as we barely slept.
  13. I use two filters: truthfulness and accuracy. Keeps the list super short.
  14. It’s the Goldilocks Paradox. Perfection through repetition…but not too much. Thrill of the unknown, after a full preview. Spontaneity, carefully planned. As I am participating less after the last year, I will probably go for a new treat. Can usually return to an old fave later. Just not too late…
  15. Once you’re a Cast Member, you are never not on stage…
  16. Perhaps (hoping) he travels to LA Might be nice to engage in some deep conversation.
  17. A hole new world…
  18. Warning: Upgrade probably required for him to lose that goddam ape
  19. Andrew Garfield is a major talent - if you watch Late Show w Colbert, find his interview on the show from last night Mon 11/23. Funny and moving, having just lost his mum, with his dad and brother in the audience.
  20. I worked with him just before Aladdin and he’s as sweet and sexy as pictured.
  21. After skipping a holiday season (Christmas at my house) I have been looking forward to doing some decorating and began looking through the big plastic tubs from different sources some labeled some not, filled with the various trash and treasures gay men accumulate in 30+together, mostly to out-Fab last year. Huzz was in retail display, so we were always a bit OTT. Oy vey. Each of us has our own small collection of childhood baubles as well. Overwhelming amount in total, going thru it to donate a bunch asap. How about you? Do you give good deck? How important is it to you on average? Are there mandatory festive decorations or pieces of religious significance to the celebration? Does the process involve conflict? (I said one strand at a time!!!) Are you a collector/hoarder of it in a way like no other thing…? 😱 Have you inherited things? Made your own? Do it just like Mom? Do it nothing like Mom? Say fuckit that’s Mom’s job..? 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

  23. I agree - I learned a lot about how this particular drug made its way to so many people. Exceptionally strong performance from Michael Keaton, too.
  24. No, but we promote the biggest ones to run our government🤓
  25. We Americans are all whores. It is simply a matter of price. Desperate to part with $1500? I will clean your kitchen.
