  1. Were you actually handcuffed?

If you have ever been detained by PD before, real law enforcement issue handcuffs feel way different than bdsm/sex store handcuffs.

Also, it's standard practice for law enforcement to at least have you interlock your fingers on your head and Pat you down, even if they just want to chat.

If these things didn't happen most likely it was a complete scam.

So sorry this happened to you:(

Quite frankly, I was frigging terrified and the handcuffs looked like the real deal. If he was LEO, I didn't want to challenge him and make things worse. And if he wasn't LEO, I didn't want to antagonize him and risk being physically harmed. My brain shut down and my first instinct was to save myself from whatever. Chalk it up to me being a very stupid old man . I really never thought someone would do something like this.

  2. I haven’t been on for a while, and haven’t really been actively hiring since 2017. I’ve been using Grindr and other apps/sites for this type of activity.

Today I set up an appointment with someone on skipthegames.com. After several messages and exchange of photos we met this afternoon. He asked that I produce payment before anything happened, and I did. As soon as I handed him the money, I heard “Sir, please turn against the wall and place your hands behind you back.” He pulled handcuffs, and I kind of chuckled and asked for some confirmation that he was LEO, and was assured that I would know he was once we were in the police car. I completely lost it and let him know that something like this would absolutely ruin me.

After desperately pleading with him, he agreed to turn a blind eye in exchange for additional compensation. He wanted $1,500 to make it disappear. I was able to come up with less on the spot, and had his word that this would be the end of it. He said that we both had a secret about each other that would protect us both. His rationale was that he would tell his colleagues that I got cold feet and backed out of the arrangement.

Not sure he was really LEO, but wasn’t really brave enough to take the chance. Dirty cop or shyster hustler? He told me that they’ve been scooping sites like skipthegames, Grindr, etc., looking for “generous men” and that they were cracking down.

After today, this has pretty much thrown water on my hiring at all. A painful, frightening and expense lesson to learn.

    A truly FML experience.

  3. There were a couple of things in the story line that just didn't make sense.

Like where on earth did they find a seemingly unending supply of white beach sand in upstate NY? The major complaint I heard was that people were upset that there really wasn’t any character development. I actually thought that was a good move on the writer’s part. They just plopped you in the middle of a random family’s life during this this crisis (which was never fully explained.....just hinted at).

  4.

Just saw this yesterday and thought it was well crafted, directed and acted (the children were amazingly good). Lots of jumps. A nice, tense little horror flick that’s not slasher vs teen or torture porn.

  5. Would it be terribly awkward if a prospective client reached out to you to exchange contact info for possible future hiring? Given the uncertainty of the future existence and availability of sites, it may be the only opportunity to establish contact. I haven’t been at this long enough to establish a base of regulars, and there are several guys, both here and on RM that have sparked my interest. Most are out of my area, but I thought it would be a good idea in case they wander my way, or I wander their way.

  6. I can't see that happening because Reddit had a section devoted to escorts. The other sites are based on accounts. You have to go profile to profile looking for what you want.

The worst they can do is not accept # that are connected to prostitution

I don’t really use any of those sites. Is it feasible that they could employ an internal search mechanism for key word like “escort”, etc to identify those accounts and deal with them on an individual basis? Particularly if they discuss their escorting business. RM has a Twitter account. I can’t imagine that Twitter would allow it to remain given the nature of their business.

  7. The worst part is that guys can’t link to their own sites. A great work around would be for guys to be able to put their Twitter/tumblr/instagram accounts in the contact section. That way the can basically just say, “for more information about what I’m interested in, check my tumblr account.”

And once a guy stops paying for an ad, the link goes away, the same as their number.

Based on the actions or Reddit, will Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram accounts for escorts be scrubbed as well?

  8. I wonder, could a guy set his profile location to a location without these concerns, say Antarctica, and use the visiting options to bypass these changes.

The point is that if RM wants to continue to be a viable option in the US under this new law, it needs to cleanse the whole platform of suggestive language, pricing, and links to external websites for all providers and clients. No more detailed reviews, not more “I am into...” section. If they do it only for US members, it still exists as a site to facilitate. They can’t effectively wipe it from one site, but allow it on another and in their app.

Also, I’m wondering if the “we’re overseas” reasoning works if they’re operating a site that’s counter to this new law, while accepting membership payments and advertising dollars from US based persons and companies.

  9. It looks to me like these change are only for US providers and clients, which seems to be a futile overall effort. If the idea is to make RM a platform that doesn’t facilitate prostitution, they need to apply those changes across the entire platform. A provider in NY has their ad cleansed of suggestive copy, rates and external links, while across the border a Montreal provider carries on, business as usual. It’s like a Disney Princess bandaid on a sword wound.

  10. Have any members done a Route 66 tour, either road tripping it or through an organized tour company?

I was curious if it’s worth the trip, particularly from a photography angle.

  11. the stereotypes and cruel bitchiness and divisiveness really bothered me

And one only needs to look at many of the posts in forums like this to understand the relevance in the community today.

  12. I don't know that you would expect a subpar situation because his rates are lower on a certain platform than another, but it would have me pause. I would wonder - is he charging too much and so he's trying to get any business he can by dropping his rates? Is he just adjusting to a different market or offering a special limited time discount? Was he maybe gonna hang with you for free, and figured if he can get a few bucks, why not? Is he just not certain of what his value is?

I think there's something to be said for some consistency in pricing, as it suggests a certainty of value (at least, on the part of the escort - it's a form of confidence). A classic example is Apple - the same gadget costs the same in every store, to every customer. There are no gimmick sales (holiday weekend bullshit, doorbusters, etc) and no variation in cost based on market. Apple says their gadget is worth whatever amount of money, and that's the end of it (excepting some discount programs). When things go on sale, or you can get them for significantly less in another state, don't you wonder just a little bit about what the value is? A consistent price leads you to believe it's worth it and you're not getting ripped off.

I don't think my city is really prime for escorts. My gut tells me that he was just looking to take any business at all. Doubtful that he was looking to hang with me for free. That would never happen for me.

19 year old hunks demanding $500 from a Grindr (or seeking Arrangements) message don’t understand their market. And that’s exactly what I explain to them when I say “no thanks”. Sometimes I’ll provide a link to RM for them to study ;)

I've realized that there are 2 types of non-escort guys on Grindr here. Stunners who believe they should be getting higher than market rates based solely on their looks, and average and below average guys who believe that I'm so desperate I would pay any amount for the privilege. I actually am desperate, but I try to be a smart shopper.

  13. I've added a few emoji roses to my Grindr profile, and lo and behold I'm the most popular girl at the prom. This AM I had a message from a 19 year old hunk who said that he was looking for some reliable clients and wants to get together to discuss details. He's not advertising on any platform to my knowledge, but seems to know what he's doing (he talks the talk). Of course this could all go horribly wrong, and I could end up being the lead story on the 6 o'clock news
