The storage cost for Wasabi is actually pretty cheap. It comes out to $6 per month per TB of storage. That means we spend $72 per year for each TB of storage long term. This is MUCH MUCH cheaper than trying to scale the cost of the server's built-in storage.

Yes and no. Yes - You CAN attach files. No - Our server itself is not hosting them. We're using a file storage company called Wasabi to host images. This provides us with 1TB of storage and no bandwidth limits. It basically uploads the images there and automatically embeds the link into the post for you.

Yes. Click on the mega menu button first, then click on the mailbox icon. In my screenshot below, it's the three lines to the right of the logo. For mobile devices, you have the extra step because there is not enough screen "real estate" to have the extra buttons on the main display.

Yes. Below the search box is an option to display unread content. Just click that link. As a reminder, the search system is still not 100% yet as the indexes are still being rebuilt. "New" content is automatically being indexed as posted, but all older posts are still being worked on.

I’m the first to admit it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. This is a big overall change to ask from the community and I get it. If there is anything I can do to make it a little easier, I’ll do it. My goal is to give members as many options as possible to handle our many and varying preferences.

The topic index/rebuild will occur after the post index/rebuild occurs. We need the posts finished before we rebuild topics themselves to prevent problems.

Or ask the guy who can dig into the database itself. 🤪

Watched content and search absolutely won’t work till the rebuild/reindex completes. These fully leverage indexes.

Ignored users may possibly not be working until the rebuild completes. It was not on my testing scenarios to confirm. I’ll see if I can play around with this to see if there is a setting I’m missing in the meantime.

The search is literally only aware of 25.43% of posts and 1.3% of topics as of a few seconds ago. It SHOULD get better over the next day or so. I was viewing a topic earlier when it said I had new replies. I refreshed and it had loaded in three older posts that were not there earlier. So they’re (very) slowly trickling back in. This was one of the drawbacks for opening the forums early. I intentionally allowed the boards to come back online without the full board being back and reindexed so that we would not need to have the site down for a day and a half.

In the upper right side of the post is three dots. Click it. You will see an option to edit or hide your reply. In the old Xenforo forum, it said "delete", but all it did was hide the post. Admins/moderators could still see the post. So if you make a mistake, feel free to edit or hide. No harm/no foul, and it will continue to work exactly like it did before. 😇

Where possible, I tried to have IPB use the same cookie data used by Xenforo. This means in many cases, your browser matched the domain name itself and the cookie ID to authenticate you. It may not have worked quite the same way for everyone depending on your OS/browser. But at least you made it back!!

Yes! On the home page, look to the LEFT of the "Start New Topic" button. It should be near the "Who's Online" widget. There are three view options: Table, Grid, or Fluid. Choose Table if you want it to look like it did on Xenforo.

Like any good cosmetic procedure, it will take a little bit of time to fully heal and recover from the major surgery. I know it will suck waiting for all of the topics/posts to reindex and rebuild, but I think the outcome should end up pretty nice!

If you don't like the card view that shows pictures of each forum name, you can change this setting! Next to the "Start New Topic" button is three buttons. Click the first one that says "Table". It will switch your view to look like the original Xenforo display!

The Message Forum is now running on Invision Community. All of our posts, topics, and private messages have been moved into the new forum. However you may see some errors and messages about posts missing as the system works to rebuild and reindex the full database. As I mentioned prior to the conversion, it will take approximately 24 hours for the full process to complete. During this time, posts that are not working will magically start coming up. There is no need to file a report. Please feel free to start a new post in the mean time as existing posts work to rebuild. (They will be back soon!)
