Sometimes there just isn't. Long term illnesses can justify suicide. Robin Williams is an example of that. I'll take the same road if/when my time comes. Dementia is big time in my family.

I'm out. Family, friends, neighbors know.
I'm out because it just became too much effort to lie, dissemble, mislead and obfuscate. Its exhausting!

I feel no pressing need to tell everyone immediately upon meeting. I fly no flag. There's no rainbow on my bumper. So I suppose some business acquaintances don't know. But if we're friendly enough to chat, go to lunch, they know. In fact, I often have a little fun when people, getting to know me, asking questions, reach understanding. It's visible on their face, evident they want to ask "are you gay?" but are afraid. I usually smile and chuckle, saying "its ok. I have nothing to hide. You can ask."
I'm not proud of being gay. I reserve pride for accomplishments; I had nothing to do with being gay. I'm not proud of being six feet tall or having brown eyes. Or size 13 feet....well ....
I'm proud of the manner in which I live my life. I'm proud that I've upheld my personal commitment that I'll never ever make even the slightest effort to hide who I am. I'm proud of my lifestyle choices, and my career accomplishments; I think its important that others see that I live a quiet suburban lifestyle, have advanced through management into owning my own business. Being gay doesn't define me. Not all gays live the stereotypical lives depicted by the entertainment and other media. When its finally apparent that there are gay butchers, congressmen, executives, techies, single and partnered, thin and fat, black white & brown, quiet or outspoken, timid or faaaabulous living in cities, suburbs, towns and on farms..... maybe people will stop looking for, focusing on, and reacting to differences.

Although I'm not in my 50s or 60s I am 41 and I'm ok with it and always have been. With age comes confidence, understanding, openness and such. Not to knock the youngin but I think if I were to hire it would be the guys in the 40-60 range.

Gar1eth, what you are feeling is normal, not pathological. Memento mori. You are grieving for a loss which also reminds you of your own mortality. It is something we all must learn to live with, without stifling our own enjoyment of life.

Inevitably, we will all be touched by death in our lifetime, and our own mortality lie in the balance until "its OUR time"... I am the last in MY family... I have lost everyone around me, including my longtime partner... but it hasnt broken me, as I know "it's just not my time yet".... I identify with your situation Gar, and empathize... All I can offer are words of encouragement and strength. Make the most of the time you have. do things that make you happy in the moment. Death knows no Age, and often seems unfair when those taken are so young. It's not for us to question.... I did that for a long time and it got me nowhere, no answers.

Now I wake up each day and say to myself "I was given another day, what am I gonna do with it" ? It's good you feel safe to talk about your feelings here, and just know there are people that ARE listening, and offering their support. GOD BLESS......

I must admit that, in some ways, I find it difficult to believe that I have nothing better to do with my time than to read the various forums on this site and then post responses.

I would also like to say that I am amazed at how many really nice, kind, intelligent and fun people I have met participating here. I want to thank Daddy, for taking the time and effort to provide us with this wonderful site and opening up an whole new world for me. It has been a wonderful experience meeting people who share my interest in escorts and don’t find me some kind of pervert for doing so.

Now you might wonder why I am taking this opportunity to make these pronouncements. The reason is simply that this post makes 1000 for me.

    Thank you one and all!!!!!

The Kevin Spacey news is 0% surprising to me but still very depressing. I've been an out gay man attempting to make a career in SHOW BIZZZZ for over ten years now. Sometimes it's worked out, a lot of the time not. I've experienced many Hollywood predators in that time. Agents inviting me to their hotel rooms to "party". Allowing producers to quiz me about my sex life in meetings because "we bat for the same team, right? LOL!" An A-list director following me down the sidewalk of West Hollywood my second day living in LA and winking at me as he put money in the meter where he'd parked his Lamborghini. And the biggest question you're asking yourself: what kind of lunatic parks a Lamborghini at a meter?

When you're gay in a business with such an anti-gay history, you are forced to believe these moments of discomfort are par for the course. You think, well, half of the casting people won't even acknowledge me because I'm gay so I guess this successful weirdo who keeps touching my leg at The Abbey is the only person with connections who can help me.

But in the midst of this predatory dam breaking and internet pile on, I think it's important that we remind people that the majority of gay men in Hollywood are NOT predators. There are incredibly kind, good hearted gay men out there who actually DO want to help each other move forward. The Kevin's of the world are NOT our community. But on that note: until executives, producers, and casting directors celebrate those people and give them the opportunities they deserve, predators like Spacey will continue to misrepresent a remarkably supportive community of good people.

I don't think crime stats bear out your assertion that the streets are meaner today than they were 25 years ago. For one thing, the murder rate is something like half of what it was back then. We just hear more about stuff because of social media.

Cynical group here. When I give, which is sometimes, I do so with the expectation that I have no control over what that person may do with the money I give to him nor how much money that person has accrued by this activity, but rather I do it with the expectation that at this particular time and in this particular place, I am feeling a kindness towards another human being who may need my help. On a cold winter night walking in the streets of the NE, I may slip a bill of some denomination into the sleeping bag of a person sleeping on the street with the hope that this may be the dollar or five or ten, that brings this person back. I know some find this naive, I find that the world is frequently a hopeless place and I figure I am not giving away money, I am buying a bit of hope for myself and perhaps the recipient as well.

If it happened, it was wrong. What's also not right is a 14 year old kid going to an adult party at night alone, assuming that's true.

There are statutes of limitations for good reasons, the erosion of those exposes anyone to any accusation, and when late makes it difficult to defend oneself. In America an accusation like this is almost a conviction. I think anyone who makes an accusation 32 years later or after the statutory period for a claim should be exposed to libel/slander damages. Think about how many times you were alone with someone in your home or office whether repair person/neighbor/fellow employee/customer/etc/etc and how they could, like this accuser, come out 30 plus years later to say you did something improper. How would you successfully defend yourself? It's not right.

I download everything -- either by torrent or private file sharing sites -- I get things quicker, without commercials, in better quality. The only thing I don't get by having gotten rid of cable/satellite is news and sports but that's changing to so I don't miss it. Plus I can piggy back off my neighbors in the country and their satellite. In NYC, in my building, you have have no choice but to have it because it's built into your assessment.

I'm happy to be rid of the cable cord and I save a ton of money.
