To me, age is just a number and one of the least important factors. While there is an age that men (to my eyes) are no longer hot, it is different for every guy… I call it the “grandpa effect” when men hit a wall and suddenly start looking elderly. Otherwise, hot is hot whether a guy is 21 or 65. When I was in my 20s, I would have 100% hit on a lean/fit 50 year old. That said, I do think that most men tend to peak between late 20s and mid 30s.

Not all adults live alone or with roommates. I personally live with my parents (to take care of them), and I know there are a lot of other adults in a similar situation. And other adults have spouses and/or children. And some adults live with their (adult) siblings or as roommates, so a “date” coming over wouldn’t be appropriate. I’m always baffled when people are baffled by this lol. I actually did this a long time ago for a couple hookups… both hookups were great, but the hotels were really seedy.

Exactly, the whole point of paying is that the client gets to call the shots- in an unpaid hookup, if one guy is out of the other’s league, the roles would be more likely to be reversed. And generally speaking, people don’t go into professions they hate. If your least favorite/worst subject in school was math, you’re probably not an accountant. The same premise applies to being a provider... if a provider doesn’t enjoy sexual activity with a variety of types of guys at least to some degree, it would not be a viable career.

My life has changed significantly in the last few years. I was much more sexually active from circa 2012 (aka before PreP was common) to 2019, and had plenty of hookups albeit very rarely anal. The handful of times I did anal I always used a condom, but had never thought of using a condom for oral before reading on this very site about experiences getting STIs from oral. I was fortunate enough to have never gotten an STI, but I now know that that was more due to luck than my own safety measures. While I now hook up very very infrequently (more due to my lifestyle/circumstances than fear), I understand the cohort LookingAround is describing, and they regularly go clubbing/bar-hopping, go to sex parties, are on PreP, and have BB sex. I don’t think it’s obliviousness as much as it is a mindset that they’ll just cross the bridge of treating an infection if they get it. While I don’t judge those who do that at all and am honestly a bit envious, I don’t have space in my life for all that and don’t think BBing would be worth the risk of other STIs even if I were on PreP.

That’s because many of those of us who are pro-condom are not the inhabitants of that world. Yes, I am gay and a New Yorker, but I am not the kind of person you would meet while out clubbing… I have commitments that prevent me from living that life, as well as other interests.

Exactly, this is why I don’t get the anti-condom rhetoric.
