I guess it’s me. I have never had a public encounter let alone any overture – from a man or woman. These gym, bathroom, dressing room spontaneous rencontres fortuites are only something I know from porn.

Getting Back on Prep Prior to Engaging in BB Sex
Archangel replied to + Axiom2001's topic in Men's Health
In short, you are responsible for your own health. That said, it seems to me hugely disrespectful to not go on PrEP if you know you’re going to be going BB. Even if the other guy is on PrEP, your respect for him and his well-being means you will too. It just makes sense. Yes—there are potential side effects to taking PrEP, but that’s the cost of BB in our day and age. I always start taking PrEP about a month before my appointments (I book ahead for multiple-day BFEs or vacations) and stay on for about a week after. -
Not you 😊
-
I’m also going to ignore or even block those who aren’t respectful 🤷🏼♂️ That’s a function here for a reason.
-
In seriousness, I have few gay friends despite being gay. And I’m always careful what I share with them because I know how they talk about other people when they’re not around. My best friends are straight women.
-
@Vegas_Millennial – But…that’s an anecdotal generalization. You shouldn’t do that! Nor can I trust what you wrote. I mean, see below.
-
In all sincerity, I cannot see where the original title is that I had written. It seems to me it was more complicated than “The entitlement of straight white men” but I truly don’t recall what I had written. Where are you guys seeing this original title?
-
I guess looking for support and affinity here is expecting for too much. I figured our shared interest and – even if minimal – similar experiences as gay men would create more bound than with someone who’s not even a member here.
-
Oh. The original title… I edited that to be shorter. That’s all. I don’t even recall what I had originally put for a title, frankly. Now I am the one who’s curious. About just one thing, really. What awful spelling? 🤔
-
…add to my last post (I’d edit it, but @BenjaminNicholasthinks that’s odd) …”put it well insofar as straight male privilege goes irrespective of age.”
-
This was a pretty decent discussion about straight men and their entitlement until a particular post tried to make me the problem. I don’t fully understand why anyone in this forum would want to take the part of someone who’s not here instead of someone who is – akin to the “devil’s advocate.” I know I've had my fair share of confronting people I disagree with, and disagreeing with people is fine, but assigning blame to someone for an observation they have about someone else's flaws is effectively blaming the victim. Why are a bunch of gay and bi men defending straight male privilege? Do we not accept that's a thing? Forget the Boomer part. Even above @ApexNomad put it well.
-
I honestly don’t subscribe to the notion of generational distinctions as it’s talked about here. That was sort of my point in being so bold about calling out so-called Boomers. There are plenty of Boomers who act like Gen Z and plenty of Gen Z who act like Boomers. What that whole thread was about was simply bitching about young people (cf. below) – which will always bother me. But when the shoe is on the other foot, it’s unfair to make gross generalizations.
-
Who? Me? Or the guy I was discussing talking with on FB?
-
I don’t understand. Why have an edit function if it’s not okay to use it? I corrected typos and added more to that came to me after I submitted. It’s like you’re looking for a reason to discredit what I have to say.
-
I decided I’m not allowing a bunch of people who choose to grossly mischaracterize me and indirectly malign me keep me silent. So I’ll keep participating after all.
-
So…I’m gathering that no one agrees that straight, white men of the Gen X/Boomer generation, largely, feel entitled by virtue of who they are to unquestioned acceptance or agreement. ✅
-
Of course. As they did his. He’s not righteous here. I’m willing to wager that people rarely change their minds based off social media posts (this forum is a prime example – I’m doubtful what I write here will change your mind!) I can say that I included various quotes and examples but it wasn’t what he wanted because he wanted to discredit my sources. And for what it’s worth, I know the man personally, and he is straight and white, talks about both those facts periodically, and I’m not sure exactly of his age, but he is in the neighborhood of 45, give or take.
-
The same way I would handle it if a young gay man insisted on repeating the same opinion over and over... Walk away... Even if he keeps talking and gets in his last words I said I’m done so he knew I wouldn’t reply to his inevitable attempt to bait me back in. And walk away is exactly what I did. What frustrates me, no matter what you say or want to reassign my feelings, is his apparent idea that by virtue of who he is he’s owed deference. If it wouldn’t be a huge breach of privacy and personal identity security, I’d share what was posted. But I assure you, the guy didn’t post with the same tone as your father. He just didn’t like that I disagreed with him. I don’t expect you to change your mind about my opinion as you seem to have formed one of what I feel and believe – wrong though it be – based of me having said precisely what I feel and believe.

Data that unravels your logical fallacies? You can’t seriously be asking for data about toilets… https://a.co/d/8FBzucv https://a.co/d/iyfUDUG
-
Data from four years ago is laughable. You can’t take one survey focused on one topic and another survey focused on another topic and say that the results from one are valid hypothetical results for the other. The data is better…than your conflation. You just don’t have the data you’re conflating. The old farts can’t laugh from the grave 🤷🏼♂️ If anything has shown us is the world changes and adapts, and while there are metarealities over time, the arc of history bends to change to accommodate new realities. Otherwise those who poo-pooed the necessity of indoor toilets in the 1920s would still be laughing – but we have indoor shitters now and would consider it an under the acceptable standard of living if someone didn’t. Just imagine if DCF found out a kid at the elementary school would come in and let slip his family was using an outhouse instead of an indoor toilet. Times change – whether the old cranks like it or not
