If the fact the man is straight is the primary reason for attraction for a gay man, this might be a fetish. But absent that factor, if the attraction involves the man's looks (handsome, well-built, and so on), mannerisms (so-called "straight acting" as opposed to -no offense intended here, please- "swishy"), personality (intellectual, funny, blunt or -no pun intended- straight-forward), or other common factors for attractions between people, it seems natural to me.
Since a gay man, by definition, means a man sexually attracted to another man, what would be more natural to that condition but to find the very epitome of masculinity attractive and desirable?
Getting one of them to agree, however, is more problematic. As a boss I had years ago told me regarding finding and hiring desirable candidates, "Selection is a management function; availability is in the hands of God."

In the past I've hired two straight guys.  One was an outstanding experience while the other was a total waste of time.  My success rate with bi and gay guys is much better.    

Don't get me wrong - the courteous thing to do would have been to say he wasn't interested or something.
But I do not agree that he flaked on you. He dropped out of the earliest, most non-comital stage of communication. Clients do this to providers all the time. I think of a flake as someone who makes plans and then bails or doesn't show up.
I think of the word "flake" as a serious thing to call someone in this ecosystem, because peoples' reputations as providers are built on trust and reliability. Clients have the benefit often of being anonymous and unaccountable and being able to mistreat and string along providers without consequence or damage to their reputation. Providers do not have recourse to report clients as "flakes" in a big, public way.
Now, obviously you disclosed who you were in a way that is refreshing and better than the average client. It also sounds like you displayed courteous, thorough communication and it is unfortunate that he did not reciprocate. But I feel like impugning his name on this forum just because he never got back to you at the earliest stage of communication is a bit uncalled for.
But I guess it's not worth getting into any further. I've said my opinion. I'm not interested in anything heated or overly contentious.

I don't see prices in RM ads that often (am somewhat surprised they allow it).  
I may be wrong, or maybe confused with RB when it was around, but I thought at one time there was a listing of rates under pornstar info section but that was some time ago.
I actually wish it was more common than it is as it certainly saves a step.  If I am interested in a guy but see his rate at $500 then I just move on.

I know there will be hobbyists who will (vehemently) disagree with me, but in the two decades I’ve indulged in this hobby, I’ve had maybe two encounters, both in my early days as a hobbyist, with genuine straight providers that sufficed. They weren’t spectacular, and they weren’t unpleasant - they just sufficed a need at the time. 

Without getting into the whole discussion of providers who identify as straight or bi when they’re not either for marketing, there are plenty of actual gay providers out there. Again, just my opinion and experience, a gay provider is the one with whom you’re far more likely to have a successful encounter. 

Sorry to read about your very disappointing experience, @Daniel_D, and I hope your future experiences are far, far more enjoyable.

Both mainly just out of curiosity. 

If you were interested in meeting him, then you should just have proceeded without the question as to whether or not he is a sex worker, unless there was some urgency in the contact and you wanted clarity fast.  Otherwise, that aspect would eventually. become clear.    If you were not interested, the question of whether or not he was looking for a job or a blow job is moot.

As far as the whole PNP thing, while that’s not my scene at all, I’ve come to realise the inclusion of PNP can mean different things. I know from some providers they include it to let potential clients that they, the client, can indulge. Others have said PNP to them means everything but “hardcore”. So take that as you will.

I’ve heard this comment before and I’ve always questioned its accuracy. 

...agree 100% about success rate with un-reviewed newbies...have had great experiences with newbies...the inverse is also true...have had some mediocre to poor encounters with highly reviewed/rated escorts...

I always look at them, including the written comments provided by some clients, and I take into consideration the negative ones. It’s all part of good research. 

I also wish they would be more helpful.  I will note that I have made contact with several RM reviewers of other escorts in the past and have had a decent reply rate.  It is just odd that for this particular guy that no one responded, however it may be just the luck of the draw.  I have sent a PM to @Kufrolasking about his review and will see if he responds (he has recently been on line here so it appears he is active).
