When not using your phone, you could keep it inside a metalized enclosure (Faraday cage). But if a mobile account needs to use their phone, wouldn't the cell tower data always show the approximate location? Ronan Farrow did a piece on mobile phone surveillance, that was worrisome. It's worth listening too, yet if some nefarious entity wants to track you, such as Pal!nt!r, there may not be much you can do, since there is little regulation covering surveillance. One recommendation is to restart your phone everyday. See Farrow's piece.

I found an interesting YouTube vlog explaining the line of succession. Learned so much, such as Where/who the current line originated from. Names of everyone and their place in the line of succession. What are the royal titles and meaning. What are the Duchy of Cornwall and Duchy of Lancaster. The position of the Duke and Duchess (RIP) of Kent in the Royal family tree. A Catholic cannot serve as monarch. And yes, all the facts surrounding Prince Harry's status. IMO the Duchess of Sussex is "too Californian", not cut out to be a royal. She needs to take a chill pill. Mkay? To be fair, I am not a Meghan expert, so do your own royal research. But my sense is Harry and Meghan fit in better as Southern California personalities. Back to William, one of the first impressions for me was his travel in Poland, how his entourage enjoyed dinner at a gay bistro, during a time when voters in Poland had struck an extreme blow against gay people. That said something.

The short story and the screenplay were widely praised. It's fair to say the screenplay exists because of how Dianna Ossana, who is now in her 70s, reacted to the short story, Brokeback Mountain, written back in the 1990s by Annie Proulx, who is now in her 90s. Jack and Ennis were inspired by young cowboys Proulx observed at a tavern near her ranch in Wyoming. She admits falling in love with the two characters that she created. I belonged to a Brokeback Mountain chat group for years. Ossana contributed from time to time, confirming interesting details about the film. Her writing partner Larry McMurtry died not that long ago.

What is it with unsolicited groping among gay men?
TonyDown replied to + PhileasFogg's topic in The Lounge
That seems creepy IMO, what happened to you. But yeah, some guys are apt to grab without asking. Keeping other guests at a comfortable distance is justified. That said, based on my visits, The Hacienda expects guests to take any sexual activity inside their room. In the pool areas, everyone has been friendly and relaxed. I enjoy conversing with most of the lovely guests, but yeah sometimes after listening and observing, I try to avoid an outlier, here and there. -
Curious, the estranged husband worried about poisoning, yet allowed his parents to dine. Hmmm..... This reminds me of a long running newsmagazine genre television show here in the States called Dateline. I recall one epi where the spouse was slowly killed with gradual doses of antifreeze.

Back when I was a boy in the Midwest, AM radio meant something more than it does now. One of our local stations went clear channel late at night, playing country music, coast to coast, all night long. Whenever I heard the sound of distant thunder rumble across the prairie, or noticed a faint flash of lightning in the darkness, I would tune in and wait for the station break for weather reports. I was into tracking weather, not so much the country music. But the old time country music radio was interesting.

Northern Cal. My position had ended, so was between jobs. I sat in my neighbor's living room watching the coverage for quite a while. Went for lunch with my neighbor. Funny, I remember we had hot dogs.

I respect Prince William. Also Catherine.

PBS News Hour did a story on Khruangbin, yet they've been around for a while. That their music was featured during The White Lotus S3 on HBO may have expanded their audience, but they are long established, for years before that. I like the wigs.

I've been eating a lot of watermelon lately. It seems to be great for my "regularity". And it's a tasty treat. Now I find out there is such a thing as consuming too much watermelon. Friend told me to ease up on the watermelon. I looked it up. He's right. 😐 This week I'm trying zucchini squash, stovetop recipe. Also okra. Both from my garden. What dietary choices do you keep on your menu for a happy digestive tract?

I love that idea your friend suggested! That was perfect, how Jack's mom had the paper bag ready.❤️

Weldon reminds me of critics that crucified Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for not portraying Susie Myerson living her true dyke self. That story takes place around the same era as Brokeback Mountain, when gays and lesbians were rounded up when the police felt like it, and when comedian Lenny Bruce was thrown in jail for saying anything bordering on vulgar during his act, as portrayed in Maisel. I was able to love the character Susie Myerson without the script shining the brightest light on it and honking a horn: LESBIAN HERE. Maybe young people aren't into poignant, subtle stories. They're dividing time between the TV and their phone. No time to think. For me, one benefit of actually thinking while watching Brokeback Mountain is how I might notice new things each time I watch. Example, we were led to believe from his drunk singing around the campfire that Jack's parents were ultra religious Pentecostal, and therefore not an easy thing for Jack to deal with as a gay young man. Yet when Ennis visited the ranch where we see a cross on the kitchen wall, Jack's mom nearly treated Ennis like a son, inviting him to have coffee and a piece of cherry cake, and to be sure and come back. Perhaps not the kind of reception one might predict. If young people and Glenn Weldon don't have time for nuance, too bad for them. One might guess what a fan I am. I own the 2 disc collector's edition.

He was convinced Ang Lee, Larry McMurtry and Dianna Osanna were going to blow it? Why would an NPR critic want to admit that? Not too clever. The sex scene was adequate. It got the point across. What does Glen Weldon want? I mean really. SMH. Do young people really claim Brokeback Mountain is "straight" Hollywood's attempt to tell a "gay story"? Or are they just too lazy to imagine the lives of closeted ranch hands, and their families, 50+ years ago. I don't need young people or Glen Weldon to agree what a great movie Brokeback Mountain is. But how sad, jaded and narrow minded they are, to complain about such remarkable cinema

Well...week 1 was pretty sparse. Didn't notice any of the network cameras finding shirtless hunks in the stands at the college football games. At least there are still a lot of cute quarterbacks on display. ❤️ Maybe times are changing.

Yes, it happened once. I didn't engage him. He hasn't been around for a while. Massage may not have been his forte

How many clients know your employer and family? Sounds messy. I would block his # and stop communicating with him.

Bowen Yang is my favorite. I wonder if he is ready to move on. Just a guess. -
Carlos Alcaraz is getting a lot of feedback on his buzz cut. Frances Tiafoe gave a heavy dose of teasing. Sounds like he's a little shocked to see all the beautiful hair gone! Alcaraz shared that his brother cuts his hair. Any predictions for the tournament? Sinner and Alcaraz are 1 and 2. Sinner looks hot.

More TGA trivia. There is an interesting Christine Baranski (Agnes Van Rhijn in The Gilded Age) video on the HBO TGA Fan Page on Facebook. Baranski's late husband had a direct line back to the Gilded Age Drexel family. A portrait of Elizabeth Drexel hangs in The Elms, in Newport. Also, I was watching "The Firm" (1993) last night and wondered what else Jeanne Tripplehorn has performed in. Turns out that is her, playing Sylvia Chamberlin in TGA. From TGA Wiki Websites, I found that character is based on Arabella Huntington, who has quite a story One might expect Julian Fellows to pick up on that in S4. Long story short, The Huntington in San Marino, CA was founded by Harry E. and Arabella Huntington. I recently referenced The Huntington on the Museum thread. Also, for those in the OC, Huntington Beach is named after Harry E. There is much more to their history.

Is the American dream dead? Have YOU achieved it?
TonyDown replied to marylander1940's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
...the disillusionment of the American Dream, the dangers of materialism, the power of social class, the corrupting influence of wealth, and the unattainability of the past The above are themes assigned to The Great Gatsby, written in 1925. If that book suggested the dream was dead, 100 years ago, can one blame anyone for suggesting the same thing now? My Dad's parents arrived from the old country and found honest work, a maid and a blacksmith. Grandpa barely survived a deadly coal train accident, with a severe head injury. He went on to marry Grandma. Back then infant mortality was significant. Dad was their fourth and final try. Dad served in the Pacific at the very end, Tinian and Okinawa. After the war, Mom and Dad had 5 boys, me, the last. When I think about it, I'm lucky to be here. Nowadays, when I hear coworkers worry about housing affordability and skyrocketing tuition costs, I wonder. But yes, I'd say I have achieved the American dream. I had an excellent public school education and got an engineering degree from a very competitive state school. The tuition was affordable. I saved and invested well, so I have more than enough. I own my home near the beach. Good enough for me. -
Bridgett? Jack was the very first character on screen in The Gilded Age. I wonder if Julian Fellows did that for a certain reason. He's led a sheltered life, is well liked, and talented. I fear Bridgett may be slightly high maintenance, for him to deal with. I hope she does right by him.
