  1. I remember when CBS launched The Late Show, with host David Letterman. That was a big deal, due to the NBC/Jay Leno kerfuffle. The expectation was Letterman was next in line for The Tonight Show. He then hosted The Late Show for 22 years, followed by Colbert. CBS recently let go of the After Midnight show. Corporate media is making claims that late night talk shows are too expensive to create. Daytime dramas have been nearly wiped out by talk shows over the last 10+ years. Apparently daytime talk is much cheaper to produce. I wouldn't miss the daytime talk shows if they disappeared but I will miss Colbert. I did attend a late night talk show once. Was a blast ❤️!!
  2. I follow Neil Sedaka, who was recently on a Caleb Simpson vlog. ❤️ Anyway, he credits Connie Francis for making one of his songs a hit. TikTok - Make Your Day WWW.TIKTOK.COM
  3. The Line of Beauty, Watched on Prime. Also streaming on TubiTV. Set back in the Margaret Thatcher era. Based on the Hollinghurst novel. Love Hollinghurst! 3 part drama. I saw it years ago. Watched again. It's OK.
  4. That amount sounds close to what the professional trustee outfit wanted for compensation. Ultimately I was not impressed with their process or price. Checking with your bank sounds like a good idea. I learned about an example where a client needed an ongoing POA, and used a fiduciary at their bank.
  5. That's an important point. What to compensate the POA, especially if the effort continues for years. I followed up with an estate lawyer regarding industry standard compensation for successor trustee. She quoted 1%, and since my estate is simple, my sense is 1% an upper limit. So, again, that aligns with the above comment. Also told the lawyer the rate for a professional trustee seemed excessive to me. Sounds like I was correct. Unnecessary, if family can perform the role.
  6. I am creating a revocable trust and will assign a successor trustee as part of my estate plan. My estate is not complex, so in this case I wanted to understand what is typical for compensating the role, if it's a family member. A 1% fee mentioned above seems reasonable for my successor trustee and executor, compared to the fee schedule professional fiduciaries quoted to me.
  7. Sinner was on! Will Alcaraz and Sinner achieve a legendary rivalry like Federer/Nadal? The Princess of Wales looked stunning during the trophy ceremony. 🙏🏻 Watching this tournament, what struck me was the level of sportsmanship displayed, especially the kind words from both Anisimova and Alcatraz after losing.
  8. Now that you've invested and saved, you may want to set up your estate to avoid probate and assure your legacy goes to the right place, right? I looked into having a professional fiduciary act as my trustee and executor of my will. One takeaway is how much $$ they pay themselves seems a lot. I'd rather have a family member be responsible and have them receive payment for the effort. Also the two professional outfits I contacted did not give me much confidence. So here is my question. My question is for those that have worked on your estate planning, and not using a professional successor trustee or/and have been named as executor or successor trustee by someone else. How much does the estate pay those roles, and how does that process work? I have done some internet searching on this and will do more. But am hoping to benefit from first hand experience you might share.
  9. According to the TV comments, Swiatek had never advanced past the quarterfinals. Glad I don't gamble. I would lose my shirt on the Women's draw.
  10. Yup, pretty sure he is straight. I booked him years ago when he lived near Sunset Blvd. His RM profile shows LA. Did he really move back here? EDIT: His profile no longer shows LA. Maybe was a temp. status.
  11. Xxxxxxxxx Spoiler. xxxxxxxxxx Season 4 seemed like a therapy session, family member claiming grievances and making amends. I got weary of that. I like the quiet scenes, like when Sydney was left alone with Donna at the wedding or when Carmy visited Donna and went up to his old bedroom where he found the green sweatshirt. Finally, there were little or no open restaurant with customers scenes, other than some food prep. "Look, I invented a new pastry!" That strategy ignored part of the show's energy.
  12. My friend the amateur chef does not salt potatoes before or while they're frying in the pan. He would never do that so he said, recently. His hash browns are tasty.
  13. This may or may not matter to you, but when you enter information on a pad, type information on a keyboard, or write by hand, you are using different parts of the brain. I learned this during a creative writing workshop. Does it matter with your challenges? Don't know. But it's interesting you brought it up. A neighborhood realtor leaves 3.5 X 9 notepads on my porch now and then. They are great for jotting down information. I also use them for to-do lists, and sometimes at the end of the day I make a separate list of all things accomplished. For appointments, and other key dates I use the calendar on my phone. I trained myself to open and check my calendar app every day. Finally, I keep a running grocery list on my DOC app that I continually update, real-time. Perhaps any method will succeed as long as you remain faithful to it, by following through with the "do" part of to-do. I heard an advice columnist say that this morning. Sounds too simple to mention but made sense how she framed the idea.
  14. So pretty. 20250701_220138-CINEMATIC.mp4
  15. Do over. 😗 Gauff is the highest earning female athlete on the planet according to the Tennis Channel. That said she lost her first round match at Wimbledon. I'll swap her out of my early picks, and replace with Andreeva. Love her game. A rising star.
  16. Wimbledon has started. They have a good Facebook page. Who is everyone rooting for? Who will win? I'm pulling for Alcaraz, Draper, Keyes and Gauff.
  17. For all the posts about Jacob Elordi, I'm surprised not one about On Swift Horses. The film is a throwback to post Korean War America. If anyone read Diego Calva's comments on the romantic scenes with Elordi, after watching the film, one can understand his compliment. All the romantic scenes, each cast member, were exquisitely shot. There were some uneven elements, but those are easily overlooked for me, compared to how I appreciated the film.
  18. IMO it's OK to fall in love with a provider as long as you don't fool yourself. Enjoy how nice it feels, but stay realistic.

  20. Reasons for liking Mickey 17 The cast. I am drawn to Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Pattinson. The Sci Fi element/space creatures during the climax was pretty good, and I'm not really a Sci Fi geek. A reflection of the world today, and the false idea of Failing Upwards to Perfection. Yeah, it's not a movie I'd watch again, but was interesting.
  21. @Rod Hagen How interesting you crossed paths with his world! That would have been quite something to be painted by Bachardy. He still lives and works in that same house in Santa Monica. When you go to the show, I recommend watching the short film about is life, before leaving. This video, below, shows him attending the opening.
