  1. @Cooper By adding new money, does the entire balance maintain the 4.35% interest rate? My 3 months for the special 4.35% rate ends during July so I will be visiting the branch to make any changes. That said, overall CD rates seem to be easing lower. Sounds like the better CD rates are behind us.
  2. That's encouraging to read about the Melbourne team. Just this morning I read an article from the Raleigh News and Observer, that funding is ending for a prominent HIV vaccine development program led by Duke University researchers, a move the school said “represents an enormous setback” for creating a vaccine to fight the cause of AIDS. Recent advances spurred by mRNA technologies had brought vaccine development to a pivotal juncture.
  3. When I was a young and fetching lad 😉, an older gentleman handed me The Last of the Wine, by Mary Renault. 😉😉 Many years later I re-read it. Someday I'll read it again. I read Call Me by Your Name, by Andre Aciman, twice. After many years I might read it again. Roll your eyes if you must, but it's a winner. I like Aciman's writing. I might re-read Enigma Variations before the Netflix limited series comes out. Hope Netflix can do Aciman justice.
  4. Loved all those characters in The Edmund Trilogy! Been many years, but still remember a lot of them. The lesbian from Iowa. The wacky relatives in Texas. What I remember the most is how he began A Boy's Own Story, the midnight boat ride.
  5. I'd forgotten about that MSP airport cop, below. Yeah, he looked sweet!! Some supported Larry Craig just had a wide stance in the stall, but others thought him a nasty-bad-naughty-boy. 😉 Careful out there guys!!
  6. Mira 103K views · 3.1K reactions | I need 10 or 15 skirts from Calvin... WWW.FACEBOOK.COM I need 10 or 15 skirts from Calvin Klein. Will Miranda's character evolve? 😉
  7. I wasn't aware of the political shade thrown around but I see it now. I also see fans in the UK complaining about high ticket prices, where some venues had significant unsold seats. That may be the bigger problem, IMO. But I tend to be frugal. 🙂 The Jacksons are a devout family, right? So my shirtless, hunky dancer idea probably wouldn't fly with Miss Jackson. But frankly, when a performer is a little long in the tooth, it doesn't hurt to have some firm, young flesh on stage that can move! As long as she keeps it fun, tasteful and clever...
  8. I accompanied a friend today that recommended visiting The Huntington to see Don Bachardy: A Life in Portraits. Glad I went! An amazing volume of work over the decades. The exhibition runs to early August. Visit www.huntington.org for more information.
  9. Queer comedian. Trans kid. Lots more non white characters. On and on. Did that work? Seemed forced. They definitely abandoned the "bunch of white people" storylines. But it seemed uneven. I did like the Todd Rundgren interludes. Maybe Steve is lucky he's lost his hearing. 😉
  10. I anticipate good food! Yeah, I would not be looking for hookups. Have you visited The Breakers? Is there a favorite mansion you have toured? I enjoy history. I see a lot of options.
  11. @Charlie I would like to see the International Tennis Hall of Fame and also Fort Adams.
  12. Have any of you traveled to Newport, Rhode Island? I'm on the West Coast and brainstorming a trip east. Not interested in NYC, Provincetown, Boston, etc. this trip. Just Newport. Would love to find a gay tour group I could join, but not finding much. Perhaps I should look for a tour that is not specifically gay. My interest centers around the National Museum of American Illustration, located there, at Vernon Court. Sadly, I've learned that Vernon Court is closed for renovations. By now I've learned how many architecturally significant mansions are located in Newport, hence my strategy to find a travel entity to help plan the most worthwhile visit. There is a lot to see. But also I am seeking ideas on line, starting here on Company of Men. I'm hoping to learn from those of you with actual travel related experiences. Image below is from .... https://historichouses.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/vernon-court-newport-ri/
  13. If she put together a clever show, added some shirtless, hunky backup dancers, and a great band, then it could work. She did have a lot of fun hits. If leisure tourism is softening, should Las Vegas find a more realistic ceiling for ticket prices. $444 is a lot for Miss Jackson.
  14. SPOILER Is this the movie where in the end, their friendship ended? I need to watch again. Been too long.
  15. There was a spa in LA where someone on this chat board suggested the therapists could possibly be trafficked. However each of the therapists at the spa have a massage license. So the trafficking idea was doubtful. That might be a helpful clue. A massage license probably indicates they are not victims of trafficking. Another would be if they provide appointments both at the spa and at their apartment.
  16. When I came out of the closet, a trusted person asked me how I was doing with my own homophobia. I felt confused and a little bit insulted. How could he asked me such a question, I thought to myself. But he hit the nail on the head. Doctors, police and preachers used to all define us negatively. We were diseased. We were breaking laws. We were committing sin. IMO, all the shame and fear that arose from that needed to be replaced with Pride. Another trusted person reminded me "there's nothing wrong with being gay." Helps to remind myself, against the negativity that is still out there. Finally, another trusted person reminded me to be gentle with myself. Take care. 🙂
  17. Yeah, writing a book probably means having something sensational to say. But overall is this thread really claiming Geffen treated Armstrong poorly? I don't see that.
  18. Did anyone read the book Going Down in La La Land? That had a sugar daddy character that some claim was allegedly based on Geffen. Just thinking about Armstrong's prospects, he might look into a book deal, unless he signed an NDA.
  19. Full disclosure, the coin ATM I mentioned at the credit union was out-of-order. My bank would accept quarters if in rolls. So I have that option or else driving to another credit union branch that confirmed their coin ATM is operational.
  20. Today I arrived at my credit union with $25 in quarters and asked if I could make a deposit. The answer was no, because they are a "cashless" branch. Cash is transacted through the ATM including a coin ATM inside the branch, below. So this was a wake up call, a first hand example for me how the world is more and more "cashless".
  21. I hope Pillion is more than "straight people get a poignant education" like in CMBYN, which was kind of derpy for me.
  22. The reviews sound impressive. I'm looking forward to this one though I worry it will be another gay film that connects with the critics (like Call Me By Your Name) but disappoints me. https://www.unilad.com/film-and-tv/news/alexander-skarsgrd-harry-melling-harry-potter-pillion-xrated-movie-558558-20240509
  23. There was an Andrea Martin cameo also. ♥️ @MikeThomas I agree with your take. IMO, there are some clever scenes and a lot of cringe. ++++++++SPOILER+++++++++++++ The only character I care about is George. That can be a deal breaker for me. I need to care about more than one character. What is Miles's deal? Is he bisexual? I think he may be bisexual in a plot twist. If Benny wasn't such a closeted drama queen, maybe he could have had a connection with Miles. Also, Benny's roommate is a big question mark for me. He might play a bigger part if there is Season 2.
  24. 🎼 We listen and we don't judge. 🎵🎶 🤣🤣 I paid off my mortgage early. That used to be the mantra. Send extra $$ each month, so I did. Never had a car loan. Buy used, paid cash. Do not carry credit card debt. That all worked! There is a sweet, young dude on YT driving the West Coast in his old truck, cooking his own meals, camping, surfing and hiking with friends. Some kids find ways to enjoy life without creating huge debt. And really, this cute young dude and his friends seem way happier than the TikTok crowd living with huge credit card debts on the Zack Rios channel. But yeah, I watched Zack's entire video on credit card debt and need to remind myself... 🎼 We listen and we don't judge. 🎵🎶
  25. In my case, I had straight friends that wanted to be sexual. I still don't know why. I was way more naieve about sex than they were. When I was a kid, admitting I was gay frightened me. I am still guessing whether these guys figured I was gay or they hoped so. In any case if I had asked them why they wanted to have sex and admitted my lack of experience, that would have been somewhat educational. Honest communication could have avoided hurt feelings. I will always remember a friend asking "are we getting divorced." He cared for me but I ended up really pissed at him. So yeah, the closet was not an honest place and was messy. Years later I wrote my especially close friend John a letter saying I was sorry. It stayed in my journal, but it helped.
