I met with this guy today in Chicago. It was a nice experience. He looks exactly like his pics. The first 1/2 to 3/4 of the massage is a medium to strong massage. Mostly a dry massage with some oil later. He advertises on RMen, but he does not offer those services. It was not a big deal to me, but I did ask. The finish was very nice and sensual. Not alot of other extras available. I would say, a very good massage but may be priced a little high for what he does. He said business is slow in Chicago due to more Asians in town at this time (his comment), so he is just gonna hang with friends for a couple of days. Not sure he will be available.

Pretty much ditto what @Trey mentioned above as far as what he does and extras.  Nice guy.

I posted this thought on kind of a whim but my thanks to jeezifonly and tracermain for the philosophical/emotional and biological input/information.
One therapist in particular I met early after coming out; he was handsome and nurturing and kind. My biggest mistake was trying to forge a friendship.
today, I have someone who is excellent at his job and I leave satisfied. No desire to forge anything beyond the 90 minutes a few times a month.

So from my observation it hasn’t dropped looks like 150 is the new 120. Admittedly, my frequency of getting massages has significantly went down lol. I use to get 2-3 massage a month at around 120-140 range. Now it’s like once a month or every other month. It’s not really whether I can afford it because the I think I still can. It’s more the of VALUE from what you’re paying for. I wonder if masseurs noted a drop in their clients when massage rates went up. So whenever I decide for a massage for a rate say 180 or above I just have to rationalize and think of other options where I can get more value from it like a nice dinner with friends in a fancy restaurant or a stay in a nice hotel maybe I get to take home a hot DILF at the bar kidding! I wonder if some peeps here are on the same page.

I have an incall on Saturday with a traveling masseur who keeps his pricing simple: $160 for 60 minutes, $200 for 90 -- no upcharge, no price change from his home city, etc. That's very refreshing and easy to understand. He does tack on a charge for an outcall, whether he's at home or traveling, which I can understand.

Seeing rates at 300,400 even 500 - NO WAY its a massage. Why cant those stick to RentMen site as they are clearly escort-is

Thanks for the contribution @BeefyDude. Traveling guys are all a little bit different. I agree the pricing should be as transparent as possible, but if they are at least quoting you upfront when you inquire, that should be ok.
Traveling has many costs. Fuel, transportation and accommodations are the big ones, but also the time it takes to travel between cities. For example I had a four city tour last month and was driving all day between each city, and two days for the first stretch. That’s at least 6 days for that tour and those are whole days I am spending considerable $ but not making anything.
In addition to travel costs you’re still paying for all your normal expenses at home like rent/mortgage, utilities, maintenance, etc. We have to charge what makes sense to cover ALL of that AND make a profit above and beyond what we normally make in order for it to make sense to travel. Otherwise, we’re busting our butts and going way out of our way for the same or less as we would get working out of our home cities. Has to make economic sense!
For my last trip, I tallied my total income minus expenses and it was higher than my average monthly income but not by a huge margin. It basically bought me a week off which I sorely needed after working so hard hustling for 3-4 weeks…and I used that week to move out of state to California, which was not exactly a vacation lol. Frankly I’m not surprised other guys might charge a bit more when they travel. Opportunity is high, but so are the costs.
Ads are a lot to manage when you’re going on a trip. I have at least five different ads plus my personal website. I’m not going to update rates on all of them and then change them right back 1, 2, or 4 weeks later. Meanwhile confusing my home city clients who view my ads at all times whether I am away or at home. I update my travel plans on ads that offer that feature, but not the other stuff.
I don’t change my rates when I travel. The main benefit is that I’m booked back to back every hour of every day when I am in another city. I charge the same but do more volume than I do on an average day in my home city. It’s quite exhausting working 13+ hour days one after the other after the other, but it can be great for a short stretch. Some guys change what they charge to cover travel expenses and/or adjust for a different market, whether that be higher or lower pricing.
I can’t replicate my incall experience when I travel but I get as close to it as possible. I’m in the minority in that regard. I refuse to book hotel rooms because they are so impersonal and almost always lack the space I need to set up a table and move around it freely. I refuse to give crappy bed massages. I need a table to provide a proper massage. And I’m not paying for a suite $$$.
So…I rent AirBnBs and set up in a manner as close as possible to my home setup. I bring a towel warmer, stone heater, extra large table, all my own linens, aromatherapy, products, speakers, waters, cleaning and laundry stuff, and everything you could think of. And I have access to a washer and dryer. I can’t understand how the hotel guys do it. If you’re giving multiple massages per day, that means you’re re-using dirty linens!
If you ask me, you’re getting a killer deal considering my prices are the same and yet I’m doing a lot more and spending a lot more to make an excellent massage experience available to a client in another city.
If a masseur quotes you something a little bit more when he’s traveling, have some grace. If it’s too much, decline and move on. It shouldn’t be outrageous. A nominal upcharge is not that crazy, especially if the masseur’s regular rates are reasonable to begin with AND he delivers a high quality experience. If he’s charging 200+ for “massage only” I have no pity. If he’s charging 120-160 or possibly less (per hour), I find that pretty reasonable.
    My pair of pennies.

A lot of them are bad at marketing themselves.
A photo session, including full resolution images and rights to use them for commercial purposes can cost $500-1000+ depending on who you hire and what package you get. It’s expensive.
However, I see professional photos as a wise investment because the bulk of our clients hire primarily (even exclusively) based on their impressions of the masseur photos. The returns far outweigh the costs.
I’m overdue for an updated photo shoot. Will do one soon.

Masseurs probably get more looky-loo one-time clients I bet, and though they may be open to providing something more than MT and HE, they have the option to NOT provide more if it hasn’t been promised and with a client they’re not into.

You make a good point, lines are  blurry nowadays but one thing is massage (especially a therapeutic one) and other thing is escorting.
If what a person really wants is a massage maybe the looks shouldn't matter so much but his education, experience, etc.

A few here and there, but generally speaking they're all going with the new base amount, which for SFL appears to be $160MIN for an decent massage (if you're lucky).  Many of the newbies are starting off with $200 as the low, which is becoming supper frustrating because you have absolutely no idea what you're going to get.
I saw a new ad yesterday and he was hot so I went with it.  You'd figure I'd learn by now, yet here we are.  When I got there he tells me it's going to be a holistic, interactive experience, where we would become in-tune with each other's energy, blah, blah, blah.  It all sounded great but the interactive part was just for the introduction, I guess, because the massage was done in complete silence, no guidance, no breathing instructions, definitely no energy exchange.
When we were done I told him the massage was very good, similar to the spa massage I got last week, that I paid $100 for.  I took full responsibility for not doing my due diligence beforehand and asking questions and told him I figured for $160 that there would be something special, perhaps sensual...which apparently there was an option for, for a little more. 😠
I'm usually a go with the flow kinda guy and prefer to let things happen organically, but if NOTHING happens, I'm annoyed.  Especially at a higher price point.
Moral of the story, ask all your questions beforehand.

When I see anything “Reiki” (haven’t been to one, just secondhand stories), I tend not to go.  Hands hovering (is chanting part of it or is that when “tantric” is then used by the masseurs) is what I primarily equate this too. These usually go to the muscle worship route, i’m old fashioned, i go to rentmasseur for a massage massage.
But, in all fairness, I do need to try one Reiki masseur just to say i’ve been to one.

Honestly, it depends on the guy. It's really hard to find a male provider who is legit, let alone one who does extras. For the massage itself, $70 is about as much as I'm willing to pay because I can get a great female massage for less than that. Extras.. Like I said in my message about rates, more than $50 and I am better off waiting till I get home. It's really a shame that getting a massage from a man is still seen as homoerotic or somehow less masculine for straight men. There was a time when men were routinely giving other men massages.

Ok so I took the plunge.... I even gave him a review on rent masseur, which should be up in the next few days.  So to answer the inevitable questions without making this a "review" on this site...
    1. Yes, I would see him again.
    2. Yes, the photos on rentmasseur are of him.  (And therefore some of the pics in the links above on other sites are also him, but not all).  He has a tattoo on his left forearm that makes it easy to identify which ones are and aren't of him (at least, when it's visible).
    3. Yes, he charges a high rate.  In SF it was $300 for an hour for entry level and went up from there. If you message him, he'll detail his massage offerings.
    4. Yes, I was wrong, based on the links shared earlier in this post, he's a member of the syndicate.  I would hazard a guess that he's either left them recently or is only "loosely coupled" with their business.
    5. He's a sweet and polite guy, so if you do choose him as your masseur, be good to him.
    Happy Hunting!

TennisPro35 reacted to Simon Suraci in Masseurs: what do you consider the difference between massages?
I agree with @Jamie21. If he lists erotic and uses language like “most of my body”, or quotes escort rates, he should be prepared to answer specific questions about erotic services. You are not the first one to ask, so he should have plenty of experience navigating his responses.
Guys stating very clearly in their ads “therapeutic only” and have rates under $180/hr are signaling to you they are offering regular massage services. Anything “extra” is either not offered or perhaps varies from client to client. This kind of guy may say to you that he doesn’t offer erotic services. In that case, move on to the one who matches your needs/desires or be ok with a therapeutic only session.
His rates are also a clue. Over $200/hr indicates he is most likely offering more than massage. It’s perfectly fair to assume with this type of ad that he can answer yes/no questions about erotic services. If he prefers to not put his answers in writing, you can request a phone call to discuss. Most will text.

I stay very busy, and my costs are only going up. Taxes, general costs of living, and business expenses are all higher in California than in Texas. I will also be commuting daily from my home to a business location, about 45 mins each way (vs living on site in TX).
Nobody is happy about higher prices, no matter how slight, and I know only a percentage of the market is interested in hiring me at any price - BUT let’s say you were a client interested in hiring me. What do you think about the proposed changes below?
I’m particularly interested in your opinion if you are located in the San Diego area.
    Proposed Pricing:
    Massage
    $80 / 30 min (vs $75)
    $150 / 60 min (vs $140)
    $210 / 90 min (vs $195)
    $260 / 120 min (vs $240)
    ^add to any massage:
      $40 / 15 min hot stones (vs $35)

    Body Care
    $50 / 30 min body scrub (vs $45)
    $70 / 45 min body trimming (vs $65)
    (body sculpting removed from menu)

    Cuddle Therapy
    $80 / 30 min (vs $65)
    $150 / 60 min (vs $120)

    Full Service (no change)
    $300 / hr
    $500 / two hours

    Escort Service (no change)
    $1,000 / five hours
    $2,000 / overnight
    $5,000 / weekend or (2) days
    $1,000 / additional day after (2) days
    $10,000 / week

    Notes:
Escort service is all inclusive; companionship, massage/spa, and full service, any combination.
Massage pricing is consistent for therapeutic, sensual, and erotic style massages.

It turns out that that the two masseurs from Tampa that I referenced above have reduced their rates to $160 for therapeutic only. If you want erotic it is still $200 for an hour and $300 for 90 minutes. Oh, well, I am still holding the line. I can get top quality therapeutic massage for $100 and I actually PREFER to be massaged by someone I don't find attractive in that case.

I have no issues with these travelling group of Asians.  They have a set range of $$ already and it hearkens back to how Taiwanese and Thai male massage places operate in their respectice countries on where there is a stable of boy/men to choose or given.
As long as they massage and extras are within the scope of the set prices(their particular business model) …good to go.

Short pockets of time here and there I find to read and contribute. A lot of the time I’m busy working. Currently on a four city tour and it’s been a crazy busy time. Booked back to back morning to night every single day for weeks now. I’m exhausted.
I enjoy learning more about the biz, trends, and how clients think. I do this for market research too. I’m also a client, at least for massage anyway. Sometimes people forget that. It’s entertaining here if nothing else. That’s probably the biggest reason I stick around.
Clients tell me from time to time my approach on the forums directly or indirectly influenced their decision to hire me. That’s just a bonus. I could spend my marketing time more effectively in other ways. It’s just a positive outcome. You can learn a lot more here than you ever could on a short ad bio, and clients like that.
Call me old fashioned, but I would rather read things here than on other major social media platforms for a few reasons:
    1) No algorithms curating what I see or don’t see. Nothing reinforcing extreme content or views. If I don’t like something or have no interest, I make a conscious decision to scroll on.
    2) A greater percentage of members are willing to engage in civil, thoughtful dialogue. More of us are invested in making our community better for everyone. Big social media is not like that at all.
    3) The content is focused largely on shared interests and related niche MSM topics, more specifically those on hiring. That creates a natural filter for things I am more likely to be interested in, have experience with, or have something constructive to contribute.
    4) There’s more space than 140 characters (or whatever limit du jour), and people here actually read. Sure we use images, but most of what we post here requires reading comprehension to engage. That’s refreshing when the rest of the world only has the attention span long enough to view a catchy headline or a photo.
    5) It’s easier to search for and reference things.
