That a provider, after telling you he is retiring, gets back in touch with you sometime later wanting to see you again?

Interesting because I have been hiring regularly since 2013 and it never happened to me until roughly a year ago. Since then it has happened 3 times. The first time the guy was a real jerk about it - told me his modeling career was taking off and he didn't want to see me anymore. Then 6 months later he texts me out of the blue like nothing happened - "Hey man wanna hook-up?" When I didn't reply immediately he actually seemed resentful. I was furious but we eventually mended fences and saw each other (I'm a sucker for a hottie) but it wasn't the same.

The second guy was much more contrite and respectful. Though he did drop the news he was retiring on me with no notice (in fact he had just texted me several days prior saying he wanted to see me) when he un-retired he was very cool about it and explained the whole situation to me and things are pretty much back to normal between us.

The third guy I'm seeing tomorrow so we'll see what happens. He gave me more than a months notice when he "retired" and also explained his changing circumstances that led to him getting back in the business when he got back in touch so I'm hoping for the best.

Is this typical? Has this been happening to anyone else?

I’ve had a few give notice and say “goodbye”. It’s always been appreciated.

Even a “whammer” like me gets attached sometimes and it’s nice to have

closure.

Most have just drifted off, which is certainly understood and ok as well.

Never had someone be a “jerk” about it. If they were I certainly wouldn’t

entertain seeing them again under any circumstances. As you experienced,

the “magic” is ruined and it will never be the same.

To date, any of my “regulars” who have “moved on” would be welcomed back

with open arms. It’s just never happened so far.

I've had several regulars stop working and then come back or just contact me privately (which I'm always flattered by.) Many of these young men never intend it to be a long-term gig and have complicated young lives they're trying to launch, so I tend not to overthink it and just wish them well.

However, I've never had one break the news to me in such a rude and personal manner. This one I would have told, "Thanks but no thanks. I've retired from hiring."

I only hire for massages so probably not the same connection but my two favorites both left. One was out of the blue so did not get to see him again and another was no longer taking appointments before he left. If either returned I will be waiting.....

I had a guy tell me he was retiring because he found a BF and the BF did not want him to escort. He was very sweet in his message, mentioned how much he liked getting together and wished me well. He's the escort whom I saw on the street at the Farmer's Market. He stopped, turned around, and said "hi" introducing me to his BF. We lived a few blocks from one another and he told the BF he knew me from the neighborhood. About six months later he texted me to let me know he had broken up with the boyfriend, would be posting a Rentboy ad, and assured me that he would continue to honor his old (lower) rate. We hooked up several times until he retired for good.

The guy I'm seeing tomorrow is a massage guy but I felt we had a deep, intimate connection. We talked a lot before during and after our massage sessions about a variety of subjects and often had heated disagreements. That made the whole experience hotter for me. I considered him a friend even though we didn't communicate much during his retirement. Hoping you can go home again.

It happens...unless the departure was handled with grace and style, it is never really the same again, IMO

Like Sean Xavier. I managed to get with him once inbetween retirements, incredible experience. But then again the times I was with him before his first retirement were pretty freaking awesome too. (BTW he's not one of the guys I was referring to in my original post)

If I had a dollar every time I heard someone was retiring and yet he came back...

See @Mocha for the textbook ;)

Yes, but don't you forget about so many posters who said goodbye on here and came back like nothing ever happened...

Old story. ESP the G4P scorts.

A live-in GF and moderate success in a real would job make them pull their ads and retire.

A live- in GF tossing them OUT or a baby-mama to support brings them back.

I've been seeing this hot little str8 30-ish muscleguy for YEARS. When he's got a warm nest with a chick he ignores my texts and Emails. When he splits with a chick he hits ME up. *I don't mind at all btw, he looks like Zach Efron.

Most of the guys I’ve met, who have retired from escorting, I still see or talk to on some level. None of them have come out of retirement and started advertising again. So my situation is not quite the same.

There are only two men who noticeably retired and I’ve never heard from again. One was abrupt, without warning (Andrew Irons) and the other let me know in advance and why (Alec Andrews). Alec seemed a bit disheartened as much as I was sadden during our last overnight a few weeks prior to his last hurrah. I enjoyed and miss them both.
