Well the best thing would be to just be Honest with him, and let the cards fall where they may. It can go either way. Either he will wait (on his own time), or he will leave... You have to decide beforehand if you are OK with either option. But also take into consideration HOW EARLY he actually is. I would say up to 15 minutes is OK, but anything more needs discussion.

I think I’d be ok with plus or minus 15 minutes for an appointment. But anything beyond that would lead to awkward situations.

 

He could assume I’m ignoring his texts or calls when I simply can’t reply because I’m still in the shower.

 

This is the reason I don’t like giving my room number until I’m ready. I don’t want him knocking or standing by my door for a long time.

I'm one of those that one might say is ocd about being on time. If i tell someone I'll meet them at noon chances are great I'll be there at 1130. When I am arriving to an appt for work I will find something to do till about 10 mins before the appointment. I would never knock 30 mins or earlier.

I wouldn't have a problem with one showing up early - I'd be ready. It would be neat to have in fact. If I'm visiting, I'm usually there early, have a book and read until 10-15 before when I text to tell them I'm ready when they are. I'd always rather early than late.
