I've been noticing lately that some escort ads (I'm thinking of Rentmen in particular but I don't think it's limited to that) contain an extraordinarily large number of photos of the escort in question. I'm not talking about ten or fifteen photos. I'm talking about forty or fifty. I'm not exactly sure what I'm reacting to here but I find this plenitude vaguely disquieting. For one thing, it seems that too many photos actually make the escort seem less attractive. If so, this is literally a case of overexposure. Why so many photos? Whatever happened to the idea -- common in the history of art -- that less is more? That concept has always been true of erotic art. But apparently not of escort ads.

I post a slew of photos in an attempt to give potential clients less of a fantasy about what I look like and more of a reality of what I actually look like. More photos give more insight into my appearance even on my bad days. I don't want to appear so hideous as to turn too many people away, but I am willing to present a more complete picture of myself rather than my best self and let the chips fall where they may. I would rather meet the people who will take me at my ugliest than the people who think I'm just borderline attractive enough to be worth hiring.

Showing less is ultimately sexier and more attractive than showing more, but I personally feel more comfortable presenting a more comprehensive image of myself rather than luring people in. I'm not trying to look my best on screen just to look worse when I meet someone in person.

I agree with your sentiments but....Hideous? At my ugliest? Look worse when I meet someone in person? Seriously Mike... who the fuck do you think your kidding??? You are hot, handsome, and very sexy online and even more so in person (yes, I have hired you... ;))

I don't think there is any problem when you share diverse pictures. At least I would not mind going through 50 pictures that show me 50 different sides, styles, characters, etc. but some guys post 20 pictures of their dick, or always the same character and fashion. Definitely a turn off.

What a pragmatic response!

A team of professional writers could not have composed a more eloquent response. Bravo -

I like lots of photos, within a reasonable number. Assuming there is some variety - not 50 bathroom mirror selfies - it's much more likely that the guy's personality will come thru. Getting a sense of a potential companion's nature makes it much easier for me to answer the question I always ask myself: "How am I likely to feel after spending time with this person?".

I'll take one smile pic over a dozen dick pics anyday.

Thanks, Mike. That's a really interesting perspective. I think that much of what I'm reacting to is fifty different versions of "come hither, fetch me," with only the scenery and the lighting and the costumes changing. In those cases, the excess photos feel more like overplaying the fantasy than trying to illustrate different aspects of a real person.

I don't have any issues with the number of pictures a guy may have in his profile. @Mikegaite sums it up well, a variety of pictures provide a sense of appearance and insight into a guy's personality. Profiles with only one or two pictures fail to keep my interest and I usually move on to another profile.

A variety of candid and professional, or posed, shots work best. I also like to see a guy dressed up in business attire. This gives me an idea of his fashion sense and whether or not one can feel comfortable with him as a companion for a dressy occasion.

Take a look at Mike's profile. https://rentmen.com/MikeGaite I think it's a fine example of variety. We have Mike nude. Mike in briefs. Mike in bed. Mike out of bed. Mike in workout gear. Mike with rope. Mike tied up. Mike tied up and gagged. Mike in the shower. Mike still tied up, gagged, and blindfolded. And, of course, Mike in a suit. (Damn, I need a cold shower after writing this paragraph.)

I also agree that @Eric Hassan and DavidSF have great sites as well. I'd add @SimplyAdam to that roster. In summary, I'd say more pictures are better than fewer and not over exposure at all.

I detect a touch of irony in his post...and sincerity at the same time.

Regarding the quality of the pics, in this day and age even with a lowly cell pone camera there is no need to do a bathroom selfie. One can easily produce photos that have the look and feel of those done by a professional. They can then be edited if the escort decides not to show a face pic and a watermark can be added so they can't easily be used by others, etc.

Plus, while we are on the subject it might be a good idea to clean up what's in the background as well. Of course, some might say, "Who looks at what's in the background when there's a hot guy staring one in the face!" Well some do and definitely take that into consideration regarding an escorts professionalism.

But often (to me) that bathroom selfie, or one with friends, is the most "natural" and sometimes revealing pic.

A friend who hired/hooked up used to tell me "the worst looking pic posted is what will show up" ;):p

All it takes for me is to see your blue eyes and your killer smile. The rest is just icing on the cake.

I think it's just the times we live in. People take a billion pictures (because they can) and share them all in most aspects of their lives. So it's not a surprise this would be the case for escorts. They probably aren't good enough judges of quality anyway so they just throw it all out there.

I agree that seeing the same pose 20 times seems idiotic. Or posting 20 pictures that don't really show you anything. Everyone has different things they want to see. So showing a variety of things would seem sensible.

For me a nice face picture and one or two body shots are all I really need. I understand why guys don't always want their face out there, but since that's just about the most important part to me it is a bit of a problem.

I think if you're marketing yourself you need the lures to get them in. For example if you're a "top" escort lots of dick pics will lure bottoms. Likewise "bottom" escorts will show more ass pics. I agree sometimes it's excessive posting 20 similar dick pics. What I really don't like are those "glam" shots - professional looking photos that are also heavily photoshopped.

I don't mind the number of pictures so much - nobody is forcing you to look at them all!

What is worse, is overexposure through excessive emailing! This guy has now sent me 3 emails on RM, he must have noticed that I looked at his profile once. Not only were there 3 emails, each one was exactly the same:

"Thanks for checking out my profile. :) There’s much more at www.SimplyAdam.com. Feel free to reach out anytime directly via my site or phone…

Adam"

Not only do I find that excessive, it looks and feels like DESPERATION. No, thanks!

I recently went to a rent.men link from a review, and the escort had posted 97 photos! At least they all seemed to be different (the only reason I scrolled through them all was curiosity about why there were so many). Then there are other ads with fewer photos, but they are so similar that more variety would be useful (think: eight selfies in a locker room). I would think that 12-15 photos in different poses, outfits, settings, etc. would be ideal. (How much can one learn from ten photos of the same cock?)
