dumb kid could have had anything he wanted had he played it the right way. this wasn't the right way.

But what is the "right way"? Continuing to keep company and (I have to assume) to have sex with his sugar daddy? That route would be just fine for most young gay lads and even a few straight ones, but probably unbearable for gay-for-pay Jarec. Jarec assumed he had his wealthy patron locked in between a rock & a hard place and obviously never thought his closeted sugar daddy would contact the authorities. Wrong guess.

if he wanted to be 'set up' with a wealthy older guy there might be a line around the block for a fella who looks like him. I cant comment on his sexual preference because I don't know him personally but I'm sure him being 'straight' wouldn't turn off some guys out there willing to support him

 

the right way to handle anything like this is discuss the relationship and set boundaries first

The criminal complaint (and especially the tweets cited in the affadavit) definitely suggest that whatever relationship/boundaries existed between Jarec and his patron had collapsed when the extortion really began. Seems like the patron was trying to cut Jarec off & Jarec was having none of that. Between the tweets & the fact that Jarec's buddy sold him right out, things aren't looking too good for him right now.

 

And the fact that the whole sting went down at a Starbucks in El Segundo is just wild...

Does anyone know if the guy being extorted is protected in some way from being outed if it were to go to trial? Or is it more than likely that there will be some type of plea bargain that would preclude that from happening? I hate to think Jarec could get off lightly as his actions seem downright despicable.

I suppose just one more lesson to add to many others here over the years on why, if one has the money for it, one should be very wary of the gay4pay porn stars.

 

How many tales do we need to hear about extremely wealthy but closeted men in prestigious public positions who hire with the hope that their largesse with one or another Gay4Pay porn actor will convince him to become more pliant (read... GAY) because of the pay and agree to be a person's private Boy Toy? How often have these sometime escorts turned on their benefactor over greed (and I would posit a good deal of shame) and began a scheme of extortion for more threatening to out him?

 

But on the other side, the day that closeted wealthy power brokers of the world stop hiring such people will also be a sad day for escorts who do live a comfortable lifestyle on the largesse of these individuals. Hmmm what was that saying from grandma, "Don't bite the hand that feeds you?"

While I have no notion of the very rich, doesn't it sound like the client either has family money or is a businessman? Would even many A-lister TV/Movie actors have that much discretionary funds?

Having lived in LA for a number of years while working in filmed entertainment (still have some friends in the business) there are many people in that town with that kind of discretionary money. I have one friend in LA near the beach that has over $11 million in bank accounts which he considers his "safety net", no debt, several properties and no stock investments. And he's likely considered poor when compared to many others out there. Actors not only get paid for shows and movies but residuals go on for decades. Producers, their assistants, writers, etc., etc. have similar streams of income.

I do believe we see more news stories about G4P guys (often having girlfriends/wives) who are arrested, not always for extortion but also for assault, theft or even murder, than out gay porn actors. My opinion is just from some past stories I've read on the 'net.

So assuming he did the things he's being accused of - remember that pesky innocent until proven guilty thing - I feel a little sorry for him. Sorry because he's in a heap of trouble and convictions on the charges he's facing will likely doom his life. Too bad, he is handsome with a great body. Poor me, I just have the great body :)

I almost met Santoro once. I'm thinking if that's the way he feels about clients, I'm glad it didn't work out.

 

He is right that we don't know Jarec's side. However the client would have to have done something really egregious for me to feel more empathy for Jarec. I mean I feel some pity-but not a lot.

 

I wonder if there is going to be some kind of plea deal. Any lawyers on the Forum? Wouldn't a deal be the only way to try to keep the client's name from becoming public?
