Solitaire can be healthy

I don't know about prostate cancer, but physicians have suggested masturbation to me in two related situations. I have had the privilege :( of passing kidney stones in the past. During those weeks between the excruciating pain, I would feel chronic discomfort, and masturbation would temporarily diminish that discomfort. Also, those orgasms were some of the most intense I have ever experienced--must have had something to do with overstimulated nerves. Later, after one lengthy stone passage, I developed an infection, and the physician prescribed antibiotics and masturbation.

Of course, if we're talking mental/emotional health, most psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers will tell you that masturbation is normal and can be quite healthy, in moderation. Doesn't matter if you are single or in a relationship.

And why would "moderation" enter into this equasion - the inferance being that masturbation without moderation is bad? Hooey!

When I was 15, I masturbated at least ten times a day to climax. In my 20s I had sex almost every day with someone (anyone!), but I still masturbated at least once a day. In my 30s I masturbated almost every day, whether I had sex with someone else or not. In my 40s I mastubated a couple of times a week, even though I was no longer having much intercourse. In my 50s I did it maybe once a week, and could sometimes go a couple of weeks without remembering to do it. Since I discovered this site, I'm back to doing it almost every day--the power of suggestion!--but when I am away from the computer I can go a month without thinking about doing it.

Well, there is some evidence that masturbating more often reduces one's risk of prostate cancer, particularly in middle-aged men:

Intuitively, it makes sense. The more you get the fluid moving out of your prostate, the less likely any carcinogens are going to cause trouble. Just like there are studies showing that the more fruit and vegetables you eat--therefore the more you increase your stool volume, thereby diluting any carcinogens--the lower your risk of colon cancer. It's not "hard" evidence, so to speak, but I think the wisest thing to do given our current state of knowledge is to masturbate as often as possible! :) I mean, which prostate would you think is more likely to get cancer, the prostate on the left of the man who jacks off every day or two, or the prostate on the right of the man who thinks it's a sin to masturbate? There's probably a biological reason men feel the need to masturbate. Nature's telling you something. Obey the call of nature.

I have one masseur I see a couple of times a month -- I don't go for his body massage skills but for his prostrate massage skills --

A good portion of our hour is spent on my prostrate and I produce enough precum that the first time, before he learned my body, he thought I had ejaculated which I do at the end.

This along with ejaculating 5-7x a week either by masturbation or receiving a blowjob keeps the juices flowing.

Hard to believe that my current weekly rate was my daily rate until my mid 50s.

My prostate is healthy, PSA very low and I never get up to urinate duringbthe night -- full bladder and strong stream in the morning.

I once asked my doctor about this "rumor" that frequent ejaculations can help with prostate health......before I could even finish the question, he sorta chuckled and said that story has been going around since he was in med school and isn't true......

but I'm not going to take any chances ;)

I got a "like" today on my post here, so I re-read it, and realized that I wrote it 14 years ago, and the last sentence needs to be updated. I now masturbate about once per month, provided that I make a note to do so in my monthly planner.

You need to find a new doctor. He's ignorant. It IS true.

Way to go Charlie... I always admire the charm and style of your humor, but it's good to know that you have still resisted the current trend to use smart phones and iPads as reminders. There's nothing like a good ol' "At-A-Glance®" monthly planner to keep all aspects of your life totally organized!

If your condition does not improve, you should return to your doctor and see if he will prescribe an escort to help you. Wouldn't it be nice! Then the escorts could charge a really high rate, just like the drug companies do! Although I have a hard time believing that most escorts could ever be that cruel and rip-off customers like the drug companies do.

A bit off topic, but I am still fuming. Remember the price gouging scandal about the EpiPen? Well, last November 4 major manufacturers of insulin (Eli Lilly was mine) raised their prices 400% all at the same time. Collusion and price fixing are illegal, though not naked greed. Imagine the difference in the numbers of persons who are dependent on insulin as opposed to those who have life-threatening allergies. The manufacture's cost of my insulin had been $143 per month, but as of January 1st it jumped to $695 per month!!! I still pay the same very low co-pay out of my Medicare prescription drug benefit, HOWEVER, the increased cost will consume my Medicare benefits for the year by the end of June! That doughnut hole thing. Big Pharma has managed to rip off the government and the individual at the same time. This situation may become moot after Congress grants us freedom from healthcare entirely, returning 100% control of pricing to the insurance companies and drug manufacturers. Imagine what they must be planning to do.

You schedule your masturbation? I thought that was the houseboy's job...

If you'd just simply give into technology and force your device to deliver you daily reminders for this, your old-school daily planner could finally be burned and disregarded forever as it should be! Please don't tell me you still write checks at the checkout when you're at the grocery!:p

PS: I already know the answers to this which is why your presence here and everywhere is so cherished.
