  1. Hey Nortonman02 I have somewhere the original albums of the late great Vicki Sue. They contain the extended versions of Hold Tight, Don't Try To Win Me Back Again and Daylight..A few years ago they released a 12inch with both classics back to back. I think I added that to my collection. However sadly I have not seen these songs on any CD..x( Keep Tryin tho........... "oooh it ain't easy no no no sayin sorry no I can't go out with my friends...cause a real sex (I used to sing) do not get started..till everybody else is in.....and it looks like "Daylight" gonna catch me up...... gonna catch me up again..." I love this stuff... G
  2. Well the bash was last weekend and it was blast. Thanxs to all of you who in your own way contributed to its success. The first song we played was "Love to Love You Baby" which was the first disco song I remember hearing on the radio and the last song...................you guessed it.................Last Dance. The crowd was in heaven and there were even people running up to me in tears because we played their songs. My friend put all the songs on discs and had them pre-mixed. It was amazing that we could go the whole evening w/out playing a song made after 1982. Some of the highlights were "Dancing Queen"(of course) and my Ross homage starting with "The Boss" to the disco version of the Supremes medley. The crowd simply refused to leave the dance floor with my rented "Disco Ball" hanging over head. The music was the highlight...even with open bar and free food and sweets for over 235 people. "There will be another song for me ....and I will sing it.. I will drink the wine while it is warm ..and never let them catch me looking at the sun yeah" ........Jimmy Webb/Donna Summer Thanxs Again G
  3. Thanxs all for your help with the tunes..I will let you know how the bash turns out.. Also if you hear any song that you want to add to my list..come back here and "Drop It Like Its Hott" ;-) G
  4. Thanx Hotdad, Rm and Funseeker for your suggestions. I have my interns out buying up all of the collections and checking the internet for these songs. I have a friend that works for a known music channel and asked him why hasn't someone come up with a show where the old disco acts could sing their songs. I mean do y'all remember that horrific year when Diana was trying to force the "Faux Supremes" down our throats..VH1 did a special around her but the most amazing part was when Donna came out in full voice and blew everyone away. Many of these acts still perform but not together. Thelma, Gloria both still sound great. He said this has been discussed many times before but the time isn't right. If they could get a concert with all these acts don't you guys think they would do big bucks!! The last real concert I went to was when Whitney was at Radio City during the Bodyguard year ..she just started touring and was in excellent voice..the second time I went to see her at RC she started her "Crack Is Wack" shit and cancelled an hour before. I would pay anything to see all these disco acts get together..maybe they could perform for charity?? Just Dreaming....... Please keep the hits comming.. G
  5. Thanxs BG I remember 1982 very well..That was right around the time "Borderline" hit the charts and Disco became the dreaded Dance/Club/Party/? Thanxs for the digital offer..my party is in mid Feb..my computer is crap which will probably be my next threadx( G
  6. Thanxs guys..can you imagine trying to remember all these gems.. While at work today.. I realized that I had all Divas and no male screamers. I thought of Dan Hartman and when signed on tonight some of you posted his name.. Guyinsf..How could I have forgotten "This Time Baby"..that song put me on table tops..and Linda Clifford ouch..Run Away Love.. Rick..thanxs for Le Cher..I am a huge fan of Donna Summer and I remember they made a big deal when Cher signed with Casablaca (Summers label) and said that her song "Take Me Home" would make her discos new Queen.. x( well all know that never happened but I have the extended version somewhere. The Supremes have a dance medley of their Motown hits that I love.. Tiny..Loleatta Holloway is da bomb..she can out scream anyone..Thanxs for the memories. mmk..I completely forgot about Dr Orders.. Hotdad..thanxs for your hit list..although I remember some of the artist of the songs I don't remember all of them. Keep them comming guys... G

  8. I have been planning my b-day party for the last few months. It will be early this year in a club I rented. Every detail is covered accept for the one thing that I hold dear to my heart...MUSIC... I want nothing but Disco played.........Old Time Disco....... I have an old D.J friend of mine who is digging through his vinyl collection to see if he can find the old hits. It will be a 70's theme. I don't want Pop Disco..I want the classics..He asked me my favorites and it was hard..but I narrowed it down to a few must haves.. 1) The MacArthur Park Suite (17min) My absolute fave..(Donna Summer) 2) Souvenir(sp)..(Voyage) 3) Casanova Brown, How High The Moon, Do It Yourself (Gloria Gaynor) 4) Love In C Minor, Supernature (Cerrone) 5) The Boss (Miss Ross) 7min dance version..one of her many comeback hits that planted her firmly back on the charts. I remember when the extended dance version was played in the clubs and hearing Miss Ross whoop and shout like a church lady on the dance floor made us all crazy.. 6) Do Or Die (Grace Jones) After Dark (Patty Brooks) 7) (Vicky Sue Robinson)..no not Turn The Beat...but her other major hits like Hold Tight, Daylight..etc 8) You Make Me Feel..Mighty Real...(Sylvester W/ Two Tons Of Fun) AHHHHHH the memories Wait..what song is this ..( I met him at a party, he said the sweetest things than he hit on me..wrapped up in his arms I was blinded by his charms and I couldn't see....) Who can remember the rest!! Of course there is the (Holy Trinity) aaaaahhhhhhhh of Disco songs played everytime, everywhere..... I Will Survive, Don't Leave Me This Way, Disco Inferno.. I want the Classics. I am sure that I am in the minority here but for those few of you who remember being in the middle of the dance floor looking up at that ball and hearing Karen Young..sing "when I'm with the crowd..and the musics loud and I'm feeling proud..I need a "Hot Shot"..ooooh now baby we who mama baby baby sweet sweet baby yeah yeah my fire is burning its making me hot... ...oops I'm sorry.. Please list any classics and the artist if you can remember ;-) PS..I just recently aquired some old 78 (slate) records along with a barely workable old stereo player. As I scanned the collection I saw Nat King Coles Route 66, Bill Haley..Shake Rattle and Roll, Ink Spots, Benny Goodman..all 78s over 60. When I play them on this old system they sound like The Little Rascals use to sound with Miss Crabtree. Gee I better stop now I am dating myself.. Is there a market for these 78s? Thanxs in advance G
