It is noted that some people post replies VERY frequently. While that is not bad in that messages are the lifeblood of a site like this, I must wonder if some are addicted or obsessed with posting and reading. I sign in occasionally, but it seems that some do this several times a day. What thinks you?

I was curious what my stats were after you brought this up:

Total Posts (since June 2010 I think)

1,541

Posts Per Day

1.41

I'm not on every day. But once here, I tend to post several replies. I'm not sure I'm addicted, but it is a website that's part of my routine.

I sign on most days and read most posts. When I was unceremoniously put in the corner for a weeka while back, I missed the place but I did not go through withdrawal. I try not to take the comments here too seriously, but I do give some though and do some editing when I post here. I also seek out the results of each day's NY Met game. I don't think I am addicted to the Mets or the Men here.

I've had to cut myself off at times because I become addicted to checking and posting on sites like this. So I try to limit myself to checking the site a few times per week. Sometimes it's more than that, but often it is less.

Humans, by virtue of being human, are addicted to social interaction. Whether it's in person, on the phone, on Facebook, or on message boards like this one, we're all wired to seek out social interactions. That's why social withdrawal is a sign of depression. Of course, using the Internet to avoid offline obligations and social activities or to create an alternate persona can be a sign as well, but given the relatively low volume of posts on here, I don't think that really describes anyone here. Compared to other message boards, this place is a ghost town.

Personally, I check this message board most evenings to see what's new. I don't think most posters spend a great deal of time here once they've browsed through the new posts. Unless of course, they are reading threads over and over and over again. And with some threads that have many photos of handsome men, I don't know that I could blame them. :p

I read posts every day with my morning coffee - a routine that I would find hard to break. But, I post only infrequently if there is a thread on which I have something to contribute.

Pretty much me as well. In the morning, first I read the paper, then a few blogs, posting when I feel I have something to add. I occasionally go back later in the day when there's a hot thread or a case where I'm curious if anyone has commented on what I said.

Guilty- but my excuse is I've been out of a job for a year. This Forum and the NYT online have been one of the mainstays of what little sanity I have left. If I ever get a job again or if I have to start using the library because I can no longer afford a personal Internet connection, my postings will decrease.

I hope you find work soon. It's so tough in the job market, still.

I check the new posts regularly, but often I don't see anything that interests me enough to read it. My posting frequency has declined a good deal, mainly because I have said most of what I have to say over the course of fourteen years, and don't want readers saying to themselves, "There he goes again with that same old observation." I also get tired of saying the same things.

I also am now sitting here with my morning coffee reading the forum and I'd definitely miss this board if it was shut down for some reason.....I do admit I look in here a lot and miss it if I'm off on a backcountry trip for a week or more.....great crowd here with good ideas and comments....and Rich's "whoa" blog in the Gallery.....jesus!

I try to check the site at least daily to see the new reviews and any new messages of interest. I post when i think I have something to add to the conversation, very rarely start a new post.

I tend to peek at the MF in the morning when I first get up. I check in the afternoon and then early evening. I am retired so I do have more time on my hands than most. I have met several members here, and by traveling to see them, I now consider several 'good friends' Plus there are those that communicate with me via PM's...... It is entertaining, but not all consuming.

I love being part of this "family" called the Forum and enjoy checking the posts almost every day. That said, I just took a 2-week "breather" away from the forum. I try to take such healthy breaks a couple times a year, just to help me keep things in perspective and not get too jaded or take it all too seriously. I would definitely miss this Forum and the witty, intelligent posters on here if Daddy ever decided to close up the shop.

I check in every day and often with my phone (which accounts for some of my typos I might add!)... and have averaged 1.24 posts a day so I guess I have been somewhat consistent... Like others I have been fortunate to meet a number of posters and have even made some good friends here. Incidentally since Brooklyn Guy was mentioned above, it was due to one of his postings where he exhibited his great knowledge regarding "working guys"... and I felt the need to reply... that gave me the incentive to officially join this group after a number of years of lurking... I thank him and so many others (with a special mention to Doit) for making this such an informative and interesting place to visit.

I post obsessively with the goal of reaching the next level. I'm a Knight now. Is it Lord next?

And when you become a Lord some of us might even address you as "Lord Poolboy". Or, your lordship? Guess you'll have the status then to tell us your preference :) While not necessarily true, I always think of a knight as young and hot (and hopefully at least Bi if not gay or straight curious).
