Fort Lauderdale. Plenty of boating year round, access to the inter-coastal, warm weather, no state income tax, only 6% sales tax, good bang for your buck in real estate, lower cost of living, a large gay community, slower pace, cute boys, close to the Keys and the Carolina's...and NYC is close should I feel a need to pick the pace up.

Most of us can live anywhere we like in the US but choose to live where we are. So I guess, my answer is right here on the Jersey Shore. Now when I retire, I may chose to move to a more senior friendly environment, less expensive, warmer climate and as of right now I am still

perplexed as where that might be.

I already live here.....in my beloved Jawja. My retirement home already stands on the outskirts of ye olde Savannah. And speaking of retirement, I'm beginning the process next year. I'm going to start cutting loose some clients, and begin semi-retirement. Not a bad situation at age 46, which will leave me even more time to enjoy down on the ranch.

I still have a few years to change my mind, but right now I am leaning towards retirment in either Las Vegas or Reno/Lake Tahoe.

The why part is harder-- I have no where better to pick and I don't like the humidity (or the politics) that I have lived with in Texas.

Easiest question ever. PALM SPRINGS as soon as possible. I fell in love with it 2 years ago and can't wait to relocate. The warm weather, the setting, and the people all combine to make it a truly amazing lifestyle.

It is not only extremely gay friendly, but age, and looks friendly.

I hate living in the city only reason I live here is due to work.. If I could live anywhere Id purchase a nice spot of land and build a modest home in the smokey Mountains of TN

I'm currently in a college town in otherwise-rural midwest corn-soybean-pig country. It has its benefits, including a great sense of community and many friends, not to say an amazingly inexpensive housing market. But if I could live anywhere, it would be Manhattan (NYC, not Kansas!), probably on the Upper West Side. My BF would like to live in NYC, too, but prefers the Upper East Side. I say if he can buy us a place there, I'll happily accompany him.

There are few places on the planet more beautiful than Lake Tahoe......should you decide, stay on the Nevada side, for tax reasons, and excitement.

There are so many places I'd be interested in:

Palm Springs, California

San Francisco

Austin, Texas

New York City

Chattanooga, Tennessee

Seattle

Chapel Hill or Asheville, North Carolina

North-Central Florida

I'd probably do Austin

Whilst physically able in my retirement, I will travel with the seasons: autumn in the Appalachian foothills, winter on The Island that is Palm Beach, spring at Pass Christian on the Gulf Coast and summer in at San Miguel Allende in Mexico.

When my retirement employer made everyone work online from home, I discovered that I could live almost anywhere in the Continental US where I could get Internet service. So I immediately moved to the place I really wanted to be, Palm Springs. The problem is, there is no place that I would want to be all the time. If I had the financial means to live anywhere, I would do exactly what Republican candidates like Romney and McCain do: have a legal address in one place, but second/third/fourth,etc. homes in other parts of the country that I like. For instance, I would have apts. in Manhattan and San Francisco, beach houses on the Oregon coast and Cape Cod, a lodge somewhere in the Rockies, and a condo in Waikiki. Oh, and my own plane.

Love a man with goals (some call them dreams). I keep watching HGTV and playing powerball.

There is no place in the United States I would pick year round, especially in the late spring, summer and early fall (Sorry,

ErieBear).

So my choice would be New York City in the winter and Stockholm for the rest of the year.

My strategy as well!

I'd probably continue to live primarily in my current location (near friends & family) but, with substantial wealth, I'd probably spend about half my time elsewhere. I'd investigate Hawaii, a Manhattan apartment/condo, and beach house.

SO happy living here in Vegas...the ONLY place that would supersede it would be (ahhhh.......................) PALM SPRINGS!

I was born and raised in Southern California and you can't beat it for weather. The problem is that the state government is totally nonfunctional and is only going to get worse. State and local taxes or about to become the highest in the nation and will likely continue to climb making California difficult for retirees on fixed incomes. Now if all the above wasn't the case I would probably live in the San Diego area -- the best weather in the world as far as I'm concerned.

Now if money, family, and medical service weren't issues I would immediately establish my principal residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Austin, Texas would also be a possibility. I would then have apartments in New York and London. I would also have a vacation condo in Puerto Vallarta.

P.S. I find it fascinating that I have so many friends and family members who absolutely love Palm Springs and Las Vegas. I loathe the desert. I find the landscape boring and I HATE hot weather or any sort.

I find ranch life for most of the year suits me good. I take some time in santa fe every winter (6-8 weeks).

experimented with florida and didn't like it much. if I want sun and sand, I would rather go to st kitts or st lucia.
