Today I went to see Bowling for Columbine, which essentially makes a good case that the government and the media fuel fear in us for their own distorted reason. This was one of the first posts that I read after the movie.

It was very kind of this new poster to warn us about his fear. However, I always assume that a lot of people are quietly reading these posts. They have their own reasons to do so. It probably does interest a lot of people that gay men would go on the internet and talk sexual issues, including paying for sex.

Just as the government seems to have wasted their time and resources hunting down marijuana pipes, it would be a waste of resources for them to monitor this site. But as this movie points out, playing up public fear is one thing that the government does best. It allows them to assert more control in "protecting" us. The idea tht gay men would be so bold as to talk publicly about these things would surely distress some people. But, one has to hope that more serious enforcement people are taking up more serious subjects.

Well, that's my first amendment expression. Sorry, officer, if you disagree.

Lucky, I just tried your link and it's not working. :-(

Is the URL correct?

Sorry Tony. It is an Associated Press story detailing revelations by ex-FBI agents on the bureau's extensive practice of recruiting violent informants/murderers and looking the other way as people were killed. I found it at yahoo, but the address is horrendously long with all these weird symbols.

Yes and with this post I have officially "jumped the shark".

As one of those "Reliable Sources" I can state with certainly that we are being monitored (which by definition would be an investigation). I haven't looked at the stats for a while; But I believe that about .04% of our traffic is in that category.

Thank-you for reminding us that we Really need to keep the message board within reasonable limits. We are a "Freedom of Speech" type of site. However, People are not allowed to yell "Fire" in the theater and we can't advocate the breaking of laws.

Contrary to what some people may think, most messages that are deleted are because of legal implications and not because of any sort of favoritism.

The majority are triggered by one or more of the users sending an alert. Typical reasons messages are deleted, moved, or locked:

[ul]

[li]Legal Reasons.[/li]

[li]Personal Information was released. [/li]

[li]Somebody requested that their own message be deleted.[/li]

[li]Posting was off-topic in an area other than the lounge.[/li]

[li]When a thread has degenerated to a off-topic flame war.[/li]

[li]Post didn't follow the guidelines of the forum. (For example, The subject line in "Escort Travels").[/li]

[li]Blatant advertising.[/li]

[li]Cross-Posting.[/li]

[/ul]

Do we on rare occasion screw up? You bet! We are after all human, and most of us keep very busy. However, in the last 12 months I can only think of two instances that could have been handled differently.

The point is that when the Moderator and/or Administrators take action, it's not subject to a vote, and for the most part the decision is final, and no public explanation will be forthcoming. We do have a moderators-only area and most of actions are discussed there before or just after they happen.

Hooboy is the only person that can overturn these decisions. To the best of my knowledge, he's only done that once in the history of the message board.

I think I'll jump off the soapbox now. I just hope I don't break my high heels when I land!

RE: Four Out Of Five Twinks Recommend

no cross-posting???

Why aren't drag queens allowed to post on this site? If they get bitchy and just talk about lip-syncing, make up, and places to buy plus size clothing, that is not relevant, and they should not post. But is possible that a good-intentioned drag queen has a good point about m4m4sex4cash.

There is an otherwise diverse group of people posting here.. thinking back... certifable nuerotics... racists... male.. female.. Republicans... faux Muslims, etc.

Well, well, well Lucky you are going to make woodlawn eat his words with this post! :) I do not care who is monitoring my posts here or at any other web sites. Hey BIG BROTHER! I will gladly state my real name if you just ask! x(

Of course, somebody is watching. Anybody can read what's posted on this site, and any other site on the web. Can you imagine that vice cops don't check out sites where sex is discussed? In fact, news stories I've seen over the past year indicate that several anti-gay police crackdowns against places where public sex occurs (parks, etc.) resulted from "investigations" as simple as reading the postings on cruisingforsex.com. I can't help believing that crackdowns by police against escorts have resulted from studying postings on this site. It's one of the risks of modern, on-line America.

I don;t think we are being monitored I think someone kidnapped HOOBOY and will soon ask for ransom. It is so quiet or maybe he was kidnapped by one of the escorts and he is enjoying it. I just hope they don't get the computer LOL HUGS Chuck:P

And what words might those be? Lucky keeps telling everyone that our domestic security situation is so grave that he can't believe any law enforcement agencies still pay attention to prostitution and related issues. I keep telling everyone that they should believe it, and the prosecutions and investigations that continue to occur after 9/11 keep proving me right. So what's to eat?
