I'll probably end up at Al's Diner just because I refuse to be the token single guy at the table and I'm not in the mood to cook this year.

You guys all know what it's like being the token single guy. Str8 friends try to hook you up with the token single female. Gay friends try to hook you up as well. Right when you should be enjoying friends, family, whatever, you're "on" and you can't enjoy a damn thing because there might be spinach on your tooth.

I can't be with family for logistical reasons. Most of my friends *are* going to be with family and are dreading it for one reason or another. (See above.)

Thanksgiving really hasn't had much meaning for me since I was a kid. I do pause to give thanks for the year's blessings. And there are many this year.

For the first time in almost 10 years I won't be with family or friends on Thanksgiving.

One work project is about to finish where I currently live and another is about to begin in a neighboring state. I'm traveling on Thanksgiving to set up a second "home".

FYI, with the new airport security measures, it takes me between 7-8 hours to fly to my neighboring state, rent a car, and then drive from the airport to my new "home". I can travel entirely by car from my current home to my new "home" in about the same time.

I've decided to drive and avoid the airport mess. (Besides, I have more comfort and leg room in a car than trying to squeeze my very tall and fat frame into an airline seat.):+

I'm having Thanksgiving dinner at my mothers home as usual. It's only immediate family thank heavens! Luckily, I only have to drive a few miles. After dinner there I have been invited to a friends home (who I warned I will already be STUFFED and not eating dinner again) and maybe we will head to the movies or something after they eat.

PS..

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

My mom is flying in to spend the holiday with me. This has been a tradition now for the last 10 years. She visits me for thxgiving, I visit her for Xmas. May you all have a great holiday. In light of Sept 11th, I would say we all have something to be thankful for. God bless!

Hope all of you -- or at least all of you in the US -- have a safe and joyful Thanksgiving weekend. I'll be traversing the state to make sure all the families are happy. No matter what your situation, whether it's your favorite holiday or another one that makes you cringe, remember to be thankful for what you have -- enumerating the good stuff tends to put things in perspective.

I'm going to the home of friends for Thanksgiving Day, then having friends descend upon my home from North and South that evening.....to continue the celebration through the weekend. And we'll have a night out at the Roxy in NYC Saturday night, and Sunday for recuperation. A happy thanksgiving to all!

Gobble Gobble kids,

This will be the first Turkey day I have ever spent away from my family. My options were : a. Take a bus to Lafayette or have my mother pick me up in New Orleans, drive to houston to visit my father and then come home. b. Take a bus to lafayette or have mother come and get me and take me there, and then ride with my PE coach brother (put your tounges back in kids) 5 hours to Shreveport to be with my exteded family.

I decided that it would be too big of production just to get my nervers frayed, so a few other French Quarter orphans and I are gonnah try cooking up some holiday cheer, but will proabably just end up with a strange substance that makes everyone sick. (that wine at hooboys) but tra la.

on anothe rmatter, I went and got the keys to my new place today. Scarry to say but my address will be on the 800 block of Bourbon. ehhe. For thos eof you who dont know, thats the same block that Pub and Oz are on. *cross your fingers and pray for me kids*

Lot of Turkey luvin,

Jake

Traveller, the tallest tale you tell may be that you will be up early enough to go to the Macy's Parade and shiver in the cold! (Maybe you have a pill to wake and warm you!)

I will spend Thanksgiving right here at the Message Center waiting for a lonely escort to post a "free" offer!:9

Too bad dont like the holiday...

I kinda like it. Big home-cooked meal without the stress of gift-giving.

Traveling to/from Chicago this time sucks.

Thanksgiving is not an indigenous holiday in Australia. But let me tell you what we are doing this weekend. We are going to airports to say farewell to our SAS troops who are helping to fight the war against terrorism. Mind you, only 100 are going but considering the population of Australia, pro rata it is a good proportion. And we are so far away from the mainstream, but realize that terrorism has to be stopped.

And what are you lads worried about? What you are going to do for Thanksgiving. NOT one of you mentioned having a thought for YOUR lads that are in Afghanistan. I find that despicable.

Again, it is all about self-gratification. Should I drive or take a plane. Haven't been back for awhile but want to show my support! Have already done grandma's, maybe Mum this time. Not sure about you lot. Cheers!x(

Big family day at my place where I will cook the turkey out on the grill as I have always done, then Friday it's off to Vegas for the weekend to see my "boys"!:-)

What an insulting post. The thread was about plans for an American holiday, not about the war; there's another forum for discussion about that. We've been told over and over again by our leaders that we have to get on with life; otherwise, we are letting the terrorists win. Thanksgiving is a big part of American life. By going on and celebrating it, we're are showing that our American spirit lives on. In no way is doing so showing any disrespect to those fighting abroad. Yours was a despicable post.

Drivng tomorrow morning to my other home in the city for a big family gathering. I had all the food catered this year so my folks don't have to be bothered cooking for all of us. I know it's going to be rowdy and noisy again watching all those footbal games on TV, but I love and enjoy these family gatherings.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Every Thanksgiving my place becomes an open house. My family enjoys spending holidays with me and my eclectic group of friends and neighbors.

With all the different cultures gathered together, we still discover our similarities -- we all love to have fun. We eat lots of food. We tell stories and play party games. And my Mom always initiates a Thanksgiving ritual. At dinner everyone in turn gives thanks.

I'm thankful for having such a loving family.

(Today I'm cooking and trying to "de-sex" my bedroom.)

Vegas baby!! It’s an annual event with my best friend and worst influence. There will be substances animal, vegetable, mineral (chemical and human) stuffed up or down every orifice of my body.

One man’s debauchery is another’s tradition I guess.

(LG – I’ll be thinking of you. Hopefully you’re a twink man so we won’t be trying to hire the same guys. ;-) )

My first choice is not available so this year I'll settle for second best, more or less. This has always been a family holiday for me, and by default it will be again this year (with a twist), though my daughter will be MIA due to work. My son has sucked me into attending dinner with him and his fiancee at her parents. Fortunately, I have already met them and they are not bad people, and it is only a few hours.

On a different note, with the exception of the birth of my daughter, which doctors forecasted to be a tragic event that proved to be otherwise by 180 degrees, I have more to be thankful for this year than any other year in my life. So this will be an important Thanksgiving for me, even if second best.

LOL.. Since my family is in another state and I am going home for Christmas, I had to stay in Las Vegas. Luckily I have a client that day and then I am spending the rest of the evening with my BF. Fortunately I love to cook so I am going to prepare the "Adam Thanksgiving Special". Fellas that includes : Cocktails, Ham, Green been casserole, homemade bread (my mommie sent it), and sweet potatoe pie.:9 Heavy on the cocktails LMAO:D

I want to wish each and every one of you a very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving. And I want to wish all of your Friends and Family as well. This is a time to be thankful that we still have fingers to tell each other Happy Thanksgiving.:-)

Luv you ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
