jeezifonly Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Are there state laws regarding establishments mixing nudity (and degrees thereof) and alcohol? Are there male nude clubs in Lauderdale, Miami or Key West? If there are, then Orlando is merely about making it appealing to Disney/Universal adults. "Forget the wands, put your money in a magic pouch!" Danny-Darko 1

I think the laws regarding nudity & alcohol in clubs in Florida may be county rather than state. That may have changed in recent years though, I don't know for sure. Swinging Richards had locations in Miami & Pompano with both. I believe there was also Floppy Rooster in Miami and Cupids in West Palm Beach, both long gone now. Danny-Darko 1
Buff Daddy Posted April 23 Posted April 23 You are correct. The liquor laws go by county. We had nude male dancers at Cupids Cabaret with liquor. I co managed in 2007,2008. We had a adult Entertainment license which was very expensive. So what we did in West Palm Beach you were not allowed to do in Ft Lauderdale. Unless that has changed I don't know. + Vegas_Millennial, Danny-Darko and + jeezopete 1 2
Poppie Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Ahhhh ... SO many wonderful memories at Cupids Cabaret!! I miss that place. Both locations WPB and Miami. Buff Daddy and brettnyc 2
CHIberia Posted May 6 Posted May 6 There are workarounds if you can find a clever business lawyer. I remember some clubs in other states being "members only" establishments where you had to sign up and pay for an annual membership like you would with a country club, and you were therefore attending a private party with different rules. Other clubs had 2 separate clubs technically attached to each other.
rojjodc Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Actually, I am surprised that Johnsons had not considered Orlando for a location over Tampa. Orlando gets many more visitors than Tampa and is only about 500K fewer in population per metro, and there is probably even less competition in the gay entertainment scene (my guess). Orlando may be even more progressive than the Tampa area. Danny-Darko 1

rojjodc Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Wilton Manors has lots of red tape (approval and permitting process are very slow for many new projects and I live here) but I surmise that the bar is doing very well. In fact, it may be doing better than Tampa. I bet an Orlando bar would do well if Orlando had a stronger cohesive LGBT commercial hub - I thought they were trying to make Blossom Trail and Downtown but that may have faltered. Tampa has a sort of LGBT friendly commercial hub in Ybor, which may have made it more attractive than Orlando. So pro-business may matter less - I don't see a ton of strip clubs in pro-business Dallas more so than red-tape NYC. In fact, I read a few days ago that a club in Dallas was raided because it was hosting a sex play party.
