Luckily, as opposed to the 70s and 80s was quite prominent in HIV, even before the effective treatment for it, it had become quite rare as did the intestinal parasites that were seen in the early days and lead to names such as Gay Bowel Disease and GRID before AIDS and HIV.
Luv2play Posted September 20 Posted September 20 I beg to differ. I saw KS up close and on many of my friends starting around 1983. The lesions were purplish and on their arms, legs and torsos, which were the exposed ones. Others lurked in hidden spots on the body. We were all terrified of them. An ex- lover had them. Others were afflicted with the pneumonia and weight loss. I witnessed this in the gay community in Canada, Florida and California up until about 1994/95. By that point the drug cocktails kicked in and many recovered at least partially. Others had suffered too much damage and died a few years later despite the advances in drugs. I don’t know but I assume anyone on treatment now does not get KS or pneumonia (I forget the name) and can lead a normal life. Meaning they will die from some other cause.
