It should be noted that Gutfeld and the network late night talk shows do not start and end at the same time. The Nielsen ratings quoted attribute the time for Gutfeld as 10pm  where as Kimmel and the rest of the network shows are attributed to 11:35pm. There is quite a difference in the universe of people watching television between those two time periods. When looking at social media platforms that bring true late night reach into focus, the description of “horrible ratings” given to JK is very inaccurate

"The ratings quoted earlier are based on total audience but when you look at the most coveted demo for advertisers (Adults 18-49), all three network late shows outpace Fox News with Kimmel and Colbert running almost equal."

This is YOUR quote. Care to back it up with an unbiased source?

View counts are able to be seen by all. That's your source. And, no, view counts are not "biased", just an accurate measure of the popularity of what is watched. If you want to take the time to use simple math to add up the total of views these late-night guys you don't find to be funny compared to the one guy you find funny that I don't at all, my point is proven.

Moderator, this is now "dead horse beaten to an unrecognizable, dental records needed" level. Lock.

After significant public pressure, Disney has allowed Jimmy Kimmel back on air. In a new statement, Disney writes: “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country.  It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.  We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday."

Wait, I thought the show was suspended because of poor ratings?!

The Sinclair Broadcast Group announced Monday that it will not air Jimmy Kimmel's late-night return Tuesday night across its dozens of ABC affiliates until "formal discussions" are held with the network regarding "professionalism and accountability."

Further, Sinclair is calling on Kimmel to apologize to the family of Charlie Kirk.

Sinclair issued a statement hours after ABC parent company Disney announced "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" would return from hiatus Tuesday night. Disney yanked his show last week over comments regarding Charlie Kirk's assassination.

"Sinclair will not lift the suspension of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on our stations until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network's commitment to professionalism and accountability,'

"Sinclair also calls on upon Mr. Kimmel to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family. Furthermore, we ask Mr. Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk family and Turning Point USA.

"Regardless of ABC's plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform."

Sinclair owns 38 ABC affiliates. That's 20% of ABC stations. Kimmel's ratings were already in the toilet. Without Sinclair, it will soon be economically unfeasible for ABC to continue to carry his program. And if Nexstar also decides not to air the Kimmel Show, that will be the nail in the proverbial coffin. Meanwhile, Kimmel will be on a very, very short leash.

Thank you Sinclair for your commitment to professionalism, accountability and upholding moral standards..

Kimmel doesn’t need ABC or the Sinclair affiliates; Kimmel is the platform. And Sinclair could take a lesson from Kimmel on professionalism, accountability, and moral standards.

You were right @Simon Suraci. Sinclair has said they will be preempting his show still. Nexstar had no comment yet. I looked if either owns my ABC station in Buffalo and neither do.

That's unfortunate. There are 38 ABC affiliates that should celebrate the fact that a lying idiot won't be polluting their airwaves. The list include Seattle, St. Louis, Wash DC, and Portland. As an alternative, the folks that like him could watch water boil at 11:30 PM and be better entertained.

Glad to see Kimmel's coming back.  ABC backed down.  Now I can restart my Hulu and Disney+ subscription and finish this season's OMITB!

Nextstar joined Sinclair in choosing not to broadcast the Jimmy Kimmel Show:

"We made a decision last week to preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” following what ABC referred to as Mr. Kimmel’s “ill-timed and insensitive” comments at a critical time in our national discourse.  We stand by that decision pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve. "

If ABC and Disney were bleeding funds on the Kimmel Show before his suspension, the damn has now burst open....

When Sinclair gets the consumer blowback, it will fold in the same or similar manner as ABC.

Wrong!
The "blowback" already occurred. That was when Sinclair and Nexstar told ABC/Disney that they heard from their customers, and decided they were no longer going to air that lying, loudmouth crybaby's show. At least not until he accepts responsibility and accountability for his prevarications and mendaciousness, apologizes to the family of Charlie Kirk, and makes a donation to TPUSA.

As a contrast to Kimmel, Sinclair and Nexstar should air reruns of an old show that was REAL entertainment, without vulgarity and lies, and fun for the whole family:
