To add to what @Simon Suraci said, satire builds on a narrative of what it critiques, but that narrative us usually a big picture that goes further than the individual elements that form part of it. Disproving, or calling out a lie in one small part does not necessarily debunk the entire narrative. Necessarily is the key word. Some things depend on the validity of every component. Narratives that tell a big story, whether for it to be satirised or merely revealed, are more like a jigsaw puzzle. Take out one piece and the picture is still clear. To mix metaphors, not every stone is a keystone.

Kimmel's employers are paying for a late night COMEDY show. Kimmel is NOT funny. Perhaps you considered his comments funny. Most rational people found them to be disgusting and repulsive.

the joke wasn't about Charlie Kirk; it was about the "lack" of grieving in the reaction of someone who claimed to be his friend. 

I wish we I could post the video but because of who he is it would be too political. 

If Kimmel is mean, and a liar, don't watch him! Maybe start your own channel in YouTube to see how popular your jokes are. Is never too late to become an influencer, at least for those who have entrepreneurial willingness. 

Let people watch and decided who is talented and who isn't.

He needs to issue a public apology, and grovel on his knees to his various employers asking for his job back.

Since the above scenario is highly unlikely, Kimmel will end up on Substack, a podcast, or as an MSNBC talking head.

I reject the victimhood narrative.  What extraordinary lengths did anybody employ to get Kimmel canceled?  He said something things that were outright false and deeply distasteful.  When his ABC bosses demanded he apologize, Kimmel not only refused, he said he would double down on his next show.  Fearing the public backlash, the powers-that-be felt they had no choice but to fire him.  “Suppress his freedom of speech” makes Kimmel sound like a noble victim.  Bullshit!  Kimmel did this all to himself.

If any of this is true, it is still irrelevant to the manner in which he and Colbert were handled.  Meanwhile Fox lives off feeding this beast when the shoe is on the other foot. 

Your statements just point out how weak the justification is for removing he because of WHAT HE SAID.  If what he said was really the reason, his ratings, the money and all the rest would be moot.   And while it may have been ill advised, it is only the heavy handed interference of the government into this matter now, and with the law changes that made companies like Sinclair possible.   If people were offended, and it seems unlikely that viewers of Colbert and Kimmel skew to the right who are carrying the torches for this, then they can not watch.

The ratings quoted earlier are based on total audience but when you look at the most coveted demo for advertisers (Adults 18-49), all three network late shows outpace Fox News with Kimmel and Colbert running almost equal. Fox News may have have higher numbers in the daypart but their audience is way older. As someone who has spent a good amount of his career involved in network television, it is all about reaching the target audience who has the greatest buying power. XXXX

Not mentioned in connection with ratings decline is the fact that Kimmel has 20.8M subscribers on his YouTube channel. Sure, it’s promo for the broadcast show, but these platforms are where the younger demographic lives. Will these cancellations hasten the demise of broadcast tv?

Colbert: 2.417 million total viewers - 219, 000 key 18-49 demo
Kimmel: 1.772 million total viewers - 220, 000 key 18-49 demo
Fallon:   1.188 million total viewers - 157, 000 key 18-49 demo
Gutfeld: 3.289 million total viewers - 238, 000 key 18-49 demo

Your ratings list means nothing in the overall scope of things, as you've shown them multiple times. What is being pointed out to you is that me and MULTI-MILLIONS of people do not sit down and watch these shows to report to Nielsen, but watch highlights of the shows that interest us on YouTube. So this is where your back-patting data becomes flawed and moot.

When you take into account views on the Internet of these four talk show hosts, Gutfeld goes from first to worst. Next to nobody cares to watch him on the Internet, which is why so many people have no idea who he is, until he went on Jimmy Fallon and brought his war chest of viewers with him that one night. 

How as you mention does Gutfeld have a "smaller universe of viewers"? The percentage of people with rabbit ears in 2025 rivals the amount of people who watch Gutfeld clips on YouTube. There isn't a cable or satellite provider in the USA that doesn't carry FOX News. I pat myself on the back for not putting that channel in quotes. 😊

Arguing he isn't because you don't like him is dumb.  I dislike Trump, yet I'd never deny he's charming and funny.  "Shithole Countries" Who says that?!  It's terrible, and 8 years later I'm still chuckling at that frankness and disregard mixed with vulgarity. :-)
