Luv2play Posted June 24 Posted June 24 This appears to me to be the first big heatwave of this summer. It got hot here today about 35 C. But there is a nice breeze and little humidity where I live. Also not expected to last more than 2 days. How is it in your area if you are affected?

He was asking about areas in a certain country, and asking about a heat event there. Whether that country uses Celsius is beside the point, he was citing the temperatures in a part of Ontario that does, and where there has been a heat event that may have been experienced below the 49th parallel DMZ. + José Soplanucas, CuriousByNature and Luv2play 2 1

Thanks, I was just trying to determine the country. Thank you for letting me know it's a country other than the US that includes Ontario. I will assume that it is Canada. Here in USA we still use the Imperial system even thought we left the Empire a long time ago and before we were allowed to even ask to do it. Yesterday it felt like 111' F in DC, I had to run an errand nearby at 1 PM and later at 8 PM, the first time outside was extremely hot, the 2nd time was way more comfortable. + Vegas_Millennial Posted June 25 Posted June 25 I think the heat in the Northeast US and Midwest US has been sucked from the West. In early June, my city of Las Vegas was hot at 109F. Now we're cool at highs below 100F, so it's back to long pants and long sleeves to stay warm in the chilly mornings.

The Bible Belt and Appalachia... Those sound like they could be Freeway names in California 😂. Then I would agree on the hopelessness of the tent cities lining California freeways just a few years ago! Summers in Tennessee and Georgia are always more comfortable to me than southern California or the San Francisco area. Call me a sucker for green trees and cool creeks of the Great Smokey Mountains over Los Angeles & Ontario strip malls any summer 🌞. (Had to make a reference to our original Ontario conversation 😉).

I guess you don't believe in facts. San Francisco doesn't have a summer and has plenty of green trees around it. Only Southern California has dry areas Unfortunately those areas that you describe as heavenly or some of the poorest and most backwards in the whole country. Obviously everything is very cheap over there because people have no money and sometimes they resent tourists, talk about ungratefulness

Mark Twain famously said the coldest winter he ever experienced was the summer he lived in San Francisco. The 2 heavy jackets hanging in my closet were both bought when I visited San Francisco in the summer (on 2 separate trips, I end up buying one every trip because I forget how cold it is!). Brr 🥶 I stopped going back to San Francisco, even in other times of the year, when the poverty/needles/feces on the sidewalks outside of my hotels became impossible to avoid. 48 minutes ago, marylander1940 said: Obviously everything is very cheap over there because people have no money and sometimes they resent tourists I do like Dollywood! That's an exaggeration! Besides walking up the hill even I get sweaty even thought I'm HWP and in great shape. Just don't stay in the Tenderloin! BuffaloKyle Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Here in Buffalo the past couple days it was upper 80s and felt in the mid 90s. It wasn't too bad actually. It's just been notable since normally this level of heat is more of a July or August thing. The most brutal stretch of recent heat I remember was no more than a few years back. During the long 4th of July weekend the actual temperature was in the low 90's everyday. It was hot! Fun fact is that Buffalo has never hit 100. Our all time record high is 99. The wind coming over Lake Erie always keeps the temperature a little bit cooler until you get far enough away from the water.

The obese you saw near Dollywood was probably me! I mostly hooked up with young Daddies who had to sneak away from the wife and kiddos to let off some sexual energy with me whilst on holiday. I last went to Dollywood in late August, and it rained almost every other day. It was beautiful, and not hot. I am tentatively scheduled to visit again in November, but I'm worried about the cold. Would a jacket suitable for San Francisco summers be able to handle Appalachian Novembers? marylander1940 1
