foxy Posted April 4 Posted April 4 After being closed for renovation and $220 million, the Frick has turned the second floor which used to be private living quarters for the Fricks, then office space, is now new gallery space. Also a new cafe, a wonderful new performance space in the basement and a general sprucing up of what is still, in my opinion, the most beautiful museum in NYC. Happy to have a members preview today and they even served breakfast. Rod Hagen, thomas, pubic_assistance and 5 others 3 1 2 2

+ nycman Posted April 5 Posted April 5 So jealous. I’m out of town and missed the grand reopening. I guess I’ll just have to get in line with the unwashed masses when I get home. Don’t worry, it’s not my first (or likely last) time….grin Rod Hagen and thomas 1 1
Becket Posted April 5 Posted April 5 OH, it's a museum. This country boy thought it was the clever name of a new all nude gay club. D'OH! + Charlie 1

jayjaycali Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Looks Fricken nice if you ask me. Am I the first one to make that pun ever?
+ nycman Posted May 13 Posted May 13 I finally got to see it. The renovation is beautiful, but I thought the "new" second story was "meh". Getting to walk up the stairway has always been a dream, so that was cool. Overall, it’s was nice to see the old girl getting some tasteful work done. The crowds and lines were ridiculous. Either wait for the insanity to subside, or find a member to take you. Rod Hagen, pubic_assistance and + Vegas_Millennial 2 1

It’s not "impossible"…..there are timed tickets available to the unwashed masses this coming Saturday and Sunday (July 5th and 6th). https://www.frick.org/tickets Of course, you won’t get to just swoop in like a major donor, but even that can be arranged….grin. 3 hours ago, sutherland said: Isn't the Fragonard Room up on the second floor now? Perhaps you’re thinking of the even worse Boucher Room, which was moved back to the second floor? https://www.frick.org/map

I guess I shall be adding “no one” to my Grindr profile as one of my many delightful attributes! 😏 And now I know I can find others with similar attributes at the Frick. + Vegas_Millennial and KeepItReal 2

I knew it was the 18th century French room that was reinstalled on the 2nd floor. I hope they also restore the pipe organ on the staircase and have it played for the museum visitors Edited June 29 by sutherland typo
+ newatthis Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I was there a couple of days ago. Even with timed entry, it was uncomfortably crowded. One of the glories of the "old" Frick was how you could have a whole room almost to yourself with unhurried time to linger. I'm hopeful that things will get better once the novelty of the re-opening has passed. Still one of my favorite museums, right up there with the Norton Simon in Pasadena.
