He’s not good about returning texts as it is, I would think joining RM would only exacerbate a bad situation…… if you run a business I thinking being able to return one’s text within 24 hours isn’t the impossible….

I could not agree more. Bad communication is not good look for someone who runs this “business”.

💯💯💯💯💯.

Is that what he's asking, what you paid, what you think he's worth, or ?

No I am agreeing 100 percent with the previous comment.    I think it takes a minimal amount of time to send a text and 24 hours is plenty of time when you’re running a business.     I offered to fly into nyc to specifically to

meet to make it easier and crickets.

One can never tell how busy an escort may be.  Perhaps he is on a 5 day trip with a demanding client and does not have time to return every text.  One should not presume the worst nor presume the best.  In this case, perhaps waiting and seeing if he responds at all is the key.  A second text which is nonresponsive or slow in coming would probably be enough for me to move on.  I am tolerant but not oblivious.

For curiosity sake

How close to 100% text response rate is anyone in the non-escort segments of their lives?  Because I'm not, in any sector. Not even close.

Work contacts?  Nope.  Not even employees for whom i was their boss.  Not coworkers.

Not service providers or contractors.  People who've said they were interested in work around my home.  People who've said yes, they'll send a proposal.  Contractors whose bid I've signed and returned, even contractors who disappear mid-projects.

Friends, relatives, fellow volunteers on a community board of directors...

None of the above are near 100% text response rate in my life.  Maybe it's not ghosting, but those much younger than me will maintain that not responding is a response.

Why would rentguys be any different?

How many of these people are offering to directly pay YOU money:

 - Work contacts?  Nope.

 - employees for whom i was their boss.  No.

 - coworkers.  No.

 - service providers or contractors.  No.

 - People who've said they were interested in work around my home.  No.

 - Contractors whose bid I've signed.  No.

 - Friends, relatives, fellow volunteers on a community board of directors. No.

Someone wants to pay you $, a response is a small ask.

For those providers who don’t list a phone number, but direct all initial contact through the rentmen messaging feature, I can think of a work-around to this specific problem identified by @purplekow.  For the duration of a trip, the escort can set up automatic responses advising that he’s away, he won’t be able to communicate until he returns on “x” date, and to please reach out again after that date.  That way, prospective clients won’t feel ignored and the escort will be free to devote his attention to enjoying the trip with his established client. He’d also be free to respond to inquiries at his leisure upon his return or simply wait for those prospective clients to reach out again as directed.

As a physician, I had to answer calls all the time.  Each day I would answer all my calls. no matter how long it took me to do so  I was not being paid specifically for that time but that did not stop the callers from calling repeatedly during the day though they were told when the calls back would start and that if theirs was an urgent problem to report what it was to the person answering the phone or go to the Emergency Room or to come for a walk in visit.  Nevertheless, people would call and demand that attention be paid to them immediately.  If for some reason I was not otherwise engaged at that time, I would take the call.  Such urgent issues as I have had diarrhea since this morning with no other symptoms, or I need my prescription refilled before my pharmacy closes were the kind of calls that people had no difficulty making into an emergency.

That said, I have a great deal of compassion for escorts who are likely receiving large number of calls and each person calling wanting their call returned urgently.  Escorts have lives outside of their career.  They are not paid for those calls.  How many of their calls are of the not really business type of business calls such as guys trying to get dirty talk or asking questions clearly stated previously or explained in the ad?

Just as my calls were part of my business which in and of themselves did not generate income, so are the escorts receiving many phones calls that lead to no dollars in their pocket.  I answered the calls because it was good medical practice to do so.  The escorts should be respected enough for their potential clients to realize that they are running a business and they are free to run it the way that they feel is appropriate. If the potential client is dissatisfied, they are free to move on.

I think this is the nub of the issue. My sense is many of us here are professionals who now or in the past have treated our own clients with respect, including prompt responses, even if that response is no. And when the shoe is on the other foot, wouldn’t mind similar treatment. And if an escort cannot muster that, we note that, including not extending respect to a complete failure to respond at all, and move on.

Here’s the bottom line.   I run a business and if I don’t respond within 5 days I don’t have a Customer.
I made it very clear I was willing to fly to NYC to meet after the it was made clear he would not travel to someone new.    He was then willing to meet, but then again Crickets.    I was told that even though I had offered to come to NYC he was “Prioritizing” NYC clients even though I was willing to fly in, at his request.    I would have simply preferred I am just not interested that’s all rather than games.   Better choices to be sure.
